Myself, Husband, 3 year old son, 2 cousins and cousins 5 year old daughter all just got back from a 4 day stay July 4-7 at the Wyndham. I will start from the beginning.

Check-in was pretty smooth, our rooms were not ready and we were told to come back in about 30 minutes, we were early being 2:00 so we went to the buffet to grab a bite to eat and then went to check back and get our rooms. They were ready. We booked the Oceanfront rooms and definitely were not disappointed with these! We walked right off the balcony to sand and then right to water, I definitely recommend upgrading and spending the little extra, it will be well worth your trip. Our room was clean, we never had any issues with the room. Water pressure and temperature of the water was fine unlike some of the reviews I had read. Everything worked fine and believe me the air worked great! Our room would be like an ice box when we would come in from swimming and also the room had a fan which was nice. Another nice thing was the toiletries were bath and body works, no big deal but a nice touch.

Now onto the food. IF you are bringing children, be prepared that they do not have much for them to eat. The snack bar has limited hours and if you are out and about you will miss them being open, same goes for the kids bar with milk shakes and smoothies and even if they are at the bar they never seem to have what they need to go ahead and make you what you want, The kids had to wait numerous times for things and then when the bar finally opened they would be swarmed cause of all the kids waiting. The buffet had awesome grilled chicken and steak (fajita type) with all the fixins', This definitely was good because we got our son to eat it and he just doesn't eat meat like that. However not much choice on the buffet for kids. Very tough to satisfy them. On our last night we went to Robertos. We made reservations as soon as we arrived to the hotel. Robertos was all we could get reservations for ( we were told all others were booked, as in other reviews we read). Robertos had great food, so much to choose from on the menu we ordered multiple entrees! They kinda looked at us like we hadnt eaten in weeks but gladly brought them to us. The food was marvelous. We got dessert , not so great. None of us even could finish that except for the ice cream the kids got. But all in all that was well worth it, it was great. Keep in mind even though the resort is all inclusive, if you want steak or lobster, you must pay for it at Robertos and from what I understand at the other restaraunts as well.

The hotel does not have a swim up bar, nor wait staff to bring your drinks, so each time you want a drink you must get out, wait in line and get your drink. That was a downside but not a vacation killer since we did have kids with us, we didn't drink a whole lot. The drinks were good and not good, depended who made them. Sometimes you couldn't even taste any alcohol.

The pools were nice and not ever super crowded, we even swam in the family pool for about 2 hours one day just us 6. That was really nice. But that pool never did really get crowded.

The ocean is rocky as stated by everyone else. We went to walmart and bought some cheap shoes to wear in the ocean which worked great. There were some really pretty fish right on the beach of the hotel but it definitely would be difficult to walk out without shoes. The water is gorgeous and the hotel has snorkel gear you can check out and use and also they have the hobie boats you can ride out and all of that is included.

All in all we had a great time. The hotel had some aspects that we have not been used to from other all inclusive reports. Some of the staff is on top of things and other could care less if you have a drink or not. But for the price and the length of the stay we had a great time. Oh also from driving into town and passing other hotels, it looked as if the Wyndham had the greatest beach of all the hotels. I could go on and on but I hope this helps.

What is there not to like in an all inclusive vacation in Cozumel? Simply book this hotel to find out how they can take a paradise of a city and do their best to ensure you have a sub par experience. I can best describe the faults of the hotel in bullet form:
-They gave us access to someone else's room upon check in
-When we were finally given a new room, it had not been cleaned (we checked in late 5:30 pm, no reason for room not to have been ready)
-The fridge was not stocked as promised
-Soaps/Lotions were not replenished
-Service in dining areas was terrible
-Servers would ignore guests
-You had to make reservations for dinner...and they were "booked", yet when passing the restaurant their was an abundance of seating available
-Food Quality was the worst I have ever experienced
-Food on menu was often unavailable
-One night while asleep someone entered my room, which I had the "safety lock on". The next morning I checked the safety lock. It would open with a keycard.

Positives
-Pool bartender was the only server there for the guests and deserves praises
-Room was clean and was a very nice size

I love to scuba dive and a group of 18 mostly couples booked 5 days at the Wyndham Cozumel Resort & Spa. All inclusive with three days of diving (we paid extra for more (only 2 of the 11 dives were of medium quality... we kept hoping). Should I start at how when we showed up at the hotel they didn't have rooms ready for us and didn't know when they would. Should I mention the flies around the food. Or the extremely drunk deck hand on the night dive. Or the Wyndham time share salesman that tried to steal $35 from us. Oh if you like no pool towels and only two bathroom towels in your room you'll love it. Its a great place to lose weight because if you want a drink (even water) its a 30 minute wait. I sent the Wyndham company a letter detailing our experience and they replied it was a franchise and they are in no way responsible for how bad our experience was. The hotel manger did say Sorry. But nothing else. Our letter was actually 3 pages long and we get a Sorry. I will avoid the Wyndham chain completely. They don't care except they got my money. Avoid this place. Oh yeah the food was terrible besides the flies.

Stayed at Sabor end of June 2008. Rooms are clean and nice. Absolutely no view of beach or ocean. The beach is about a ten minute walk away. Bar service was great due to Hilario but the bars close too early. Main problem was the food and the attitude of the restaurant staff. The buffet was just plain bad . Tried it for several meals but never was good. The restaurants require reservations. Evan if they are empty, you can't eat there without one. They are understaffed and very slow. Breakfast takes roughly an hour and a half. The orange juice was watered down. The Vista del Mar is the best place to eat but the staff is unaccomodating. The advertised lobster and steaks cost extra. Don't try to ask for anything the least bit extra e.g. ice cream to go or to put tables together. The answer was a consistant "no." We requested an extra blanket for the bed and the hammock which was missing were all promised to us but not delivered. This is not a dive. The grounds and pool are nice. Simply needs new management, new food service and an attitude adjustment. Without this, stay away. We travel as a group of 20 or more to Mexico every year and this was our first big disappointment.

I know this is a very long review but it would be to your best advantage to read it before booking a trip at Sabor. There were 28 of us who visited this resort 6/27 - 6/30/2008. This is our 10th yr to visit Mexico as a group but 1st time to Cozumel. We have always stayed at all inclusive resorts & never believed everything we read on this review site. Now don't get me wrong, we can have fun just about anywhere, but this resort did have it's issues. We had fun hanging out at the pool, going down the one slide that had enough water to allow you to. Some of us had rooms that opened up to the pool. We were able to hang out there until late at night. It was nice to not have anyone run you out, but at night, besides the Sabor side restraunt and the one bar that stayed opened til midnight, no other staff was seen. The minimal staff that you did see were great. Hilario the pool bartender was great. Just don't let him catch you sitting down a drink that you didn't finish or just didn't like. We were told if they caught you doing that you could be cut off and not allowed to order any more drinks. I have NEVER been told that during the 10 yrs visiting all inclusive Mexico resorts. Oh, and the swim up side of the pool bar was not opened. You have to get out of the pool to get your drinks, no pool side waiters to take orders. Ok, now to the food. First I would suggest you bring some snacks (pretzels, chips, crackers, etc.) The only restraunt on the Sabor side did have good food. Just don't wait until your starving to go eat. The 2-3 waiters they had were good, just over worked. There were 2 but most of the time only 1 cook. You can eat on the Wyndham side but might I suggest not to waste your time at the buffet. The walk there is little long but the flowers are beautiful to look at and you will likely see iguanas, lizzards & humming birds. That's the only thing worth walking over there for. The food was horrible. We had dinner & breakfast there and both were not good. The snack bar was ok. It's only open when the buffet is closed. Forget about getting a late night snack. As far as the restraunts that you need reservations, some of the people walked in hoping to get a table, several empty ones around, were told they were booked but they could sit at the table with some of our group but would have to share one chair.???
Our rooms were cleaned daily, the pillows smelled sour and we always woke up on damp sheets. There was never any hot or warm water for showering, and the shower had half a glass door. Therefore, everytime you did take your cold shower the bathroom floor flooded. Forget about having fridge fully stocked. First day we asked for beer, after us and 2 other couples with us were hung up on repeatedly by front desk, we went to concierge. They called while we were standing there & were told it was on it's way. Never arrived. Second day told beer would be delivered shortly, the guy that brings you water & sodas does not have beer. Never arrived. Third day was told that have no more beer for rooms. That night they delivered a six pack, still in plastic rings, 2 were missing and all were hot. HMMMM!!! Arturo, the "Entertainment guy" was very nice and attentive to the guests. He just didn't have much to work with. Only activity was volleyball tequila once daily. The water was pretty, the sand on the beach was a great foot exfoliator and to get the ocean to swim you had to walk over several big slimy rocks.
It's about a 30-45 minute cab ride in to town. Some rented jeeps for about $70 a day. If you go to Carlos & Charlies I suggest you demand separate tickets, if with a large group, and check your bill thoroughly. We learned the waiters aren't too honest and don't mind putting someone elses shots on your tab and will either look you in the eye and say you ordered or 10 minutes later say someone with your group said to put them on your tab, just so happens that person had already paid approx $250 on their bill before they left. Another big HMMMMM!!! There's no manager or other waiter that seem to want to help out or figure out the situation.
As I mentioned before, the group we go with always has a good time together. This is just not what we expected out of an all inclusive Mexico resort. Especially for the money we paid. Have stayed in much nicer resorts for less the money. If you want to just get away and relax, this is the place for you. Just expect to have to wait some time for food, drinks, extra towels, and forget about the beer in your fridge. These poor people that work at this resort are extremely overworked. It's hard to blame them for the slow service. We were told, not sure if it's true, that they got new management a month before our arrival. Just our luck.
This is a beautiful resort, but please believe what the last few people have wrote about this place. I would hate for you to spend this kind of money and have the kind of experience we did. Again, thanks to the hard working staff at Sabor. Management, you need to re-evaluate what you got going on here and get the staff you got some help.
