We just returned from our stay at the Wyndham. We were there June 16-20. We are a couple in our mid to late 20's with no kids. Check in went smoothly---we even got into our room early. We had a 1st floor room right on the beach (literally our door was maybe 10 feet from the sandy beach!). We went over to Sabor, the adults only section with a hotel rep to check it out as a consideration of upgrading. Ultimately we decided not to because Sabor is not ocean front, or even ocean view. Yes, they have a wonderful pool with slides and a pool bar, but we decided we came to the beach to be at the beach not at a pool! A lot of people like it over there, but we just thought it wasn't for us. If you stay just at Wyndham, not Sabor, Aura, or Regency Club (the timeshare), then you have 2 pool options. The main pool, which is only about 4 feet deep and has not enough chairs, and the kids pool area, which is even more shallow and has a lot of kids in it. However, that pool has a "bar" where you can get smoothies and milkshakes. Great if you are thirsty, but don't really want to drink alcohol. I wish the pool situation had been better, but it definately didn't ruin my vacation.
Here are some positives about Wyndham:
*Good value for the money
*Very, very beautiful resort
*Very friendly and helpful staff
*Nice toiletries provided--Bath and Body Works brand
*Grounds were well maintained
*Great snorkeling/kayaking
*Room was very clean and was kept that way
*Great breakfast buffet
*Lots of beach chairs available
*Very relaxing and tropical vibe
*Several room options (Wyndham, Sabor, Aura) to cater to varied tastes
*They serve purified water at this resort, which includes their ice. Don't drink the water out of the tap in the room, though. We did not get sick at all, and I am the kind of person who gets sick ALL the time!!

Here are some negatives about Wyndham:
*Only bar open during the day is by the snack bar and the line can get kinda long. You can ask for alcoholic drinks in La Isla, the buffet restaurant, however.
*Alcoholic drink quality was inconsistent. Sometimes they would be good (and a few times great) and then other times they would taste strange or very weak. It didn't bother me much, though because I would just get another! Someone previously mentioned they have Dos Equis on tap (I wish) but instead it is Sol. It's ok. If you are set on being drunk the whole time, then you'll have to work at it, but if you are the average person who just wants to relax and have a few drinks every day, you'll be just fine.
*The buffet is ok, but not great. The exception to that is breakfast. We loved breakfast! Lots of yummy food and great variety. For lunch your options are the buffet or the grill. We had a little of both for variety. I loved the chips and guacamole at the grill. For dinner you can either have buffet or make reservations at the 3 available restaurants. I would recommend that you get your reservations early when you arrive for each night you are there. You will enjoy it more than buffet, which can get boring if you eat it lunch and dinner both.
*Service was great at the restaurants and bars, but they seemed understaffed.
*The ocean is very rocky due to the damage from the Hurricane in '05. Bring closed toe water shoes to wear. I had some water flip flops and regretted it. You will want to get in the ocean because the water is warm, clear, and bright blue! We went snorkling right at the hotel (the equipment is free for you to use) and it was breathtaking! Lots of plant/sea life to experience!
*Regency Club is the timeshare there and it is a little disappointing to see their perks. They have a pool (the only deep one), a beach bar (the only one), and Jacuzzi tubs on the balconies. Just don't think about it/pay any attention to it! They want to make the experience unequal so that you will be tempted to get a timeshare or upgrade your room.

Overall, we had an awesome vacation! The negatives that I wrote about were just to help you have a realistic expectation, but they did not in any way ruin my vacation. My husband and I are positive, fun loving people who don't enjoy complaining about things. Go with a positive attitude and you'll love it! I still wish I was there!
Also, a must do is to rent a car and explore the island! We had a blast doing that! Go to Coconuts Bar and Grill outside of the resort. Food is great, drinks are great and it's lots of fun! Also, the beach on the other side of the ocean is an experience! Ocean is rougher there with lots of undertow, but it's gorgeous and fun to play in. The sand is so deep that we literally sunk in a foot or more!

Four of us just got home from a June 14-20 stay at the Wyndham Cozumel. To say I am extremely disappointed would be an understatement. This was our 4th trip to Cozumel and our first and last stay at any Wyndham properties. I will attempt to list a few of the many problems we encountered. First, they didn't have enough room keys and we only had one key for 3 days. 2. I had to request 4 towels as the maid would only leave three. 4. The pool with the swimup bar was green and closed on the third day until it could be cleaned. 4. There was a constant line of 10-15 people at the beach bar as was the snack bar. 4. most days at the snackbar, you could only get a hamburger. 5. patio door wouldn't lock 6. Never enough beach towels. 7 Beach bar ran out of beer twice. 8. The water pressure in our room was non existent. 9. Lack of variety at the restaurant (la isla) and below average. 10. Bathroom sink leaked into floor. 11. There wasn't enough wait staff at the restaurant, snack bar, beach bar or any where, for that matte, creating lines angering many guests.
Ordinarily, I'm not a complainer but this was just too much. I'll just have to chalk this trip up as a bad choice on my part. But, Wyndham will never get my money again. The time we spent away from the hotel was wonderful.

This was our third time here, and quite possibly our last.
This was the second time we had taken our 2 children with us and even they weren't as impressed with the Reef Club as they had been on our last trip here.
We had 2 beautiful adjoining rooms that were the spacious, well cared for, and cleaned daily. Our only problem with our room was with the loud, foul-mouth drunks that had the 3 rooms next to us. They were all there for a wedding, and were very impressed with the free, endless supply of alcohol. Although the resort could not move us to another room, I do realize that they could not do this because they were full.
Our biggest complaint this trip was with the food service. Previously we were absolutely amazed at the service we had received whenever we ate at any restaurant. Waiters and waitresses were always there to get you anything you needed, usually before you even realized you needed it.
Unfortunately, this time, the service was poor. We are not very hard to please. We don't ask too much of the help. But we were disappointed because the help wasn't much help. Each morning we got to breakfast at 7AM when they opened (we get there early because we dive every morning). Every morning they were not ready to serve anyone. As minor as it seems there was never coffee around for the guests. Actually, there was coffee in carafes at the waiters’ stations, but the waiters were usually too busy talking, or still setting up in the morning. One morning I went and got coffee for us from the waiter's station because we had been there for a 1/2 hour and none of the waiters helped us. One of the waiters told me I wasn't supposed to do it. I politely told him that if they brought it around to the guests, I wouldn't have to go get it myself. For the rest of the week, we just got coffee outside the restaurant and brought it in with us.
The last night we ate dinner, we were seated for over 45 minutes and no one came to wait on us. A waiter came over to ask if he could help us only when we got up to leave. We decided to skip the restaurant and eat at the grill.
The second night we were there, my daughter got food poisoning. Luckily it was short-lived and she was back on her feet in 2 days. This is something I don't hold against the resort because that can happen anywhere.
My wife and I had decided that we were going down to The Reef Club this time to become members because we always had a great time and were always treated like royalty. We still met with the representatives from the Reef Club, but we decided against joining. My concern is that the poor service was not a fluke, but a probable trend. Ever since Wyndham took over, the service has gone downhill. My guess is that since Sabor is the premier section of the resort ( we were given a tour and the place is BEAUTIFUL), there are fewer resources available for the Reef Club.

My husband and I took our 4 young girls for a 10 night vacation at the Wyndham. We had a fantastic time! The feeling that you first get when you drive up is great... the lobby is beautiful. There are people waiting to help with your luggage the second you step out of your cab. Check in was painless and easy. Our rooms were wonderful!! There were a couple of minor problems... broken doorknob, loose shower knob, but they were both fixed right away. Any time we asked for anything, someone was there to help us. The rooms were cleaned very well each day, complete with fun towel sculptures that the kids thought were fabulous.
We enjoyed the food. I thought that they had a great selection at the buffet... something for everyone. We were never hungry! We tried each of the specialty restaurants. The Vista Del Mar was really great - very good food and excellent service. Roberto's was great food but the service was not great here... we still had a nice time. We had a babysitter one night to try the adult only restaurant and we were not disappointed! It was wonderful! The Snack Bar was good... we had chips and guac every day. And the Bars were great too. My husband is excited to invite friends over to make them his new favorite drink, the dirty monkey... a must have. And the swim up bar in the kids pool was a huge hit for our girls!
The best thing about our trip was the service. Adrien, Israel, and Bernardo at the buffet were so wonderful and started our day off right! Alejandro, the towel guy, was wonderful! Flor and Maria who worked in the kids club loved on our girls all week long... we couldn't keep our kids out of the kids club even though we tried! Enrique, one of the managers, truly helped to make our stay wonderful in every way possible. A huge thank you to him!
Alberto, the man in charge of housekeeping personally came to clean our room a couple of nights because our regular maid (who was wonderful too) came during the baby's naptime. Rudolpho at the watersports was super helpful and accomodating. And Manuel who took us out on his boat was a fantastic guide! Thank you!
The photography service at the hotel was super! They took pictures all week of our family and put together a DVD at the end of the week... of course we bought that!
We loved the grounds of the resort. The beach was very nice... although our baby was very fond of eating the sand so we didn't lounge on the beach long. We read ahead of time to bring aquasocks so the rocks were not a problem, and the water was super clear. We really enjoyed walking to the piers. We fed the fish from both piers and saw all sorts of neat creatures, including a ray and a HUGE baracuda. Our girls had a great time during the week hunting for all sorts of wildlife including crabs, geckos, iguanas, birds, tadpoles (after the rain), hermit crabs... and we only saw 1 cockroach the entire 11 days we were there. Not bad considering the climate that you are in!
Overall, we had a really great trip. I think that if you wanted to find things that are wrong, you could. But if you want to go and have a great getaway, then this is an excellent place to do it. We have done a lot of traveling over the years... including several places in Mexico, Belize, and all throughout Europe, and this was definitely one of our top vacations ever! Thanks to the Wyndham for a job well done.

We went down for a four day scuba trip. We were not looking for a hotel with all the bells and whistles. We just wanted a clean functional hotel room with edible food and beverage. We assumed our basic daily needs would be met... such was not the case.

(Please note this is a review of the Main Wyndham Resort, not the Sabor portion or Aura.)

Following are just the hghlights of our four day three night stay:
THE ROOM-
1. Water in the shower was either boiling hot or ice cold... and every 2-3 minutes the pressure would die out and you would need to turn the whole shower back on.
2. Windows would not close and screens were torn.
3. Sink in bathroom clogged. We had to brush our teeth and wash faces in the bathtub.
4. Hairdryer did not work.
5. Air conditioner was a ceiling unit that dripped water on one of the beds.
6. We came back to our room on the last night and bugs were literally covering our vanity area. Small and numerous amount.
THE PROPERTY-
1. The outdoor lighting for our building was out. So in the evening when you came back to your room you could barely see the stairs.
2. Pools were murky to the extent you could not see your feet at the bottom.
3. The water sports are NOT included despite what the brochure says. The only equipment available to guests at no charge is the snorkel equipment. The beach leaves much to be desired. We knew this going into our trip and this is not a negative attribute of the resort... it should be noted you MUST have swim shoes to enter the water. The rocks are jagged and plentiful.
FOOD & BEVERAGE-
1. There is only ONE bar open at a time which serves ALL of the main hotel guests. The line is typically 10-20 people deep. One out of three times there are no glasses available and you need to wait for staff to bring more glassware.
2. Water coolers around the property are set out in sunny spots. So the water is never warm.
3. There are four restaurants on property. We are big fans of all inclusive resorts. We have NEVER experienced such disgusting food though. We don't expect gourmet food but heck we would have been thrilled with just warm FRENCH FRIES!
La Isla- is the buffet. Yes, everytime we went up to the buffet on several separate occasions they claimed to be OUT OF FRENCH FRIES. The food options are not only limited but are cold and really not edible. They had a pathetic salad bar and one dressing options which we think was a thousand island attempt.
Vista Del Mar- is the "seafood" restaurant. They had one fish entree on the entire menu. Grouper. Nice view, but the food was petrified and the service, despite our reservations took forever. We waited for over 45 minutes once we were seated for our waiter to just take our drink order. He returned with a different drink than I ordered because he said they were out of the ingredients for a mojito. Last time I checked a mojito was rum, lime, sugar, mint and a splash of soda... HMMMMM! Pretty basic ingredients.
Robertos- Is the Italian restaurant. We were not able to get reservations at this location. So it may be the diamond in the rough.
Mosaique- is the Asian cuisine restaurant on the Sabor section of the hotel. Service was actually good in the evening. Food was edible and presented nicely. Our waiter was great in the evening, JESUS. Breakfast and lunch were okay but the service did not compare to dinner service. At all Mosaique meals1/3 of the menu options were not available. THEY HAD RUN OUT OF THE INGREDIENTS!

The service at the resort was awful. You had to beg or complain incessantly to simply get someone to respond to a request as simple as, "Could we have some ketchup?" I could go on but the prupose of me posting to this website is to make sure others do not make the same mistake we made. I use TRIPADVISOR to get candid feedback on places I am considering visiting. I often think when someone posts a review like this that they are too demanding and like silver spoon treatment. My husband and I would have settled for plastic spoon, McDonalds' quality service or experience.

Luckily we did enjoy our dives. (We did NOT use the onsite Dive Shop.) We never want our vacations to end. This time we couldn't wait to get home and out of the Wasterland that is the Wyndham.
