The Reef Club used to be a nice, relatively inexpensive family place, now it's a corporate, low rent operation posing as chic all-inclusive. Clearly the MBAs made some suggestions as to where they could cut expenses, such as having enough seating for all the diners, helping people with questions and activities and so on. We stood for an hour in the check in line, then stood for close to an hour for some meals. There was always a line for the buffet, and you can only reserve one night at each of the specialty restaurants, which are better. Our room was fairly nice, but the aroma of sewage permeated this side of the grounds, (building 14, near the kids' pool--an "upgraded room"). Many people got sick of the lines for anything to eat or drink and just went into town to eat, or bought food and drinks at the store, as we did.
I will say that most of the workers at this place are very nice, the ones I heard one of the buttoned up management types address as "chico" and "nino." (boy, child). But overall, getting anyone to pay attention to your individual needs, as opposed to as one of the tourist herd, is difficult with a staff to guest ratio like they have now. I miss the old Cozumel and won't go back.
