I went away for a week with my best friend and we LOVED the resort- this is our second annual trip and 2- 25 year old females. Two days before we left we decided to upgrade to the SABOR section- which was probably the best decision ever! No children allowed, pools right off your terrace, the food was AMAZING- the mozaic was definetely the best restaurant there. It was Asain cuisine and just phenomenal We tried the buffet one day and we very unhappy with it and extremely happy that we could go to the SABOR and get good food. The hotel and grounds were beautiful and kept perfect, the staff is amazing and very accomodating. We read on here that they recommend water shoes- which we brought and are so thankful for!!! The water is rocky at first and some people had trouble getting in/out of the water.

There is a cool lunchtime shack sort of.... near the main buffet that has hotdogs, hamburgers, Nachos and some other things to eat which was also very enjoyable. We ate at all the restaurants on the resort and were happiest with Mosiac even though they all had really good food.

We took a two hour snorkel trip with the guys on the beach adn we had so much fun! They took us all over and it was just amazing. i highly recommend this resort to everyone i speak too but if you arent travelling with children UPGRADE TO THE SABOR!!!!

My husband and I stayed there Feb 25 - Mar 6. Had a great time. Overall this resort is terrific. We did not experience any of the problems others had. The maid was fablous, Margarita, she introduced herself on day one, and went out of her way to be certain we had extra waters, towels, etc.

Sand Dollar Sports - DON'T DIVE WITH ANYONE ELSE! These guys are first class all the way. And great service at the snorkel, sailing shack!

The food - Here's a tip, TIP!! It will go far. If you are not at breakfast by 7:30 there is going to be a wait for the omlettes. The buffet for lunch and dinner got old, but the restaurants are great. Mosaique was our favorite.

Time Share Guys - they hang out in the lobby. Not by the pool, tell them once you are not interested (politely please) and they will leave you alone. If you listen to their pitch, or show the slightest bit of interest, they will hound you the entire time.

There is a line at the bars, so bring your own big cups, or order 2 drinks. They now have a self-service soda machine so that helps. Sometimes they run out of brand name stuff, but their regular vodka, rum, tequilla is good.

Entertainment staff does a great job. Don't miss Tequilla Volleyball in the pool at 4pm.

Complaints - If you are not staying in the Sabor section, where Mosaique is, you will be able to go there for dinner, and EXACTLY 2 drinks at the bar. After that the bartender will tell you this is your last drink for the evening. There has to be a better way to handle this. When you make reservations for dinner, book as many nights as possible at once, and understand you won't get the coveted 7:30pm dinner slot. These are reserved for the timeshare owners. You will see a lot of empty tables, but low and behold they are full....

Seriously, I have done a lot of AI's. This is a top notch operation for a 3 star. Some people just won't be happy, but then you have to ask if they would be happier on a cruise...

Go, and have a great time!

The food is bad. It is not fresh, it seems like it is just reheated TV dinners with a spring of parsley on top. One night we had to wait 45 minutes for our table even though we were there on time and the restaurant had plenty of open table, then they brought us our appetizers and never brought out of entrees. We were to tired we just left and didn't say anything. There are specialty restaurants that you need to make reservations at but often they are already booked, so you have to eat at the buffet. There are long lines at the bars. They took our towels and never gave us new ones,. We called the front desk to ask for more towels but no one picked up--we got an answering machine. Then we called housekeeping twice for towels, but they never showed up. My husband had to run around the resort, looking for the maid's cart to get us new towels. I would not stay here again.

We stayed at the Sabor and enjoyed it. Check in was fast and all the amenities were explained to us. Our room was a main floor pool side terrace room which was fun. Our deck was right on the pool. Staff was helpful and friendly. Management was always present and making sure we were happy. The restaurant mosaique had very good food. I would recommend getting reservations at the various restaurants (which all have very good food) as the food at the buffet is OK. There are no ocean view rooms because it is set back away from the actual Wyndham hotel. It would be nice to be able to see the ocean. The main hotel is much busier and crowded, so I would recommend the Sabor if you a couple and want things more relaxed. Rooms were cleaned every day with clean towels and restocked beverages. If you want any extra, you just have to ask. I know management is working hard at making sure your experience is positive.

Let me start by saying, I've travelled extensively in the Carribean with all-inclusives, cruises, and regular hotels and I was disappointed with the Wyndham Cozumel. My boyfriend and I chose this resort for a relaxing 6 day trip to escape cold weather. We aren't stuck up people who like to complain. Some people will find something wrong no matter where they go, but that's not us. We are very relaxed people, just looking to enjoy the sun and unwind. We have a good time no matter where we go and usually look on the bright side of things. However, I did want to offer our experience to others.

There was no major catastrophe with our visit to the Wyndham, but a lot of little issues that add up and put a damper on things. First off, we are not super wealthy and work hard for our money. Some people have said this is a bargain all-inclusive and what do you expect for the cheap price. It's not that cheap to some people and no matter what, you paid good money for the trip.

When we first booked the trip, we requested a king size bed. The hotel also ran a promotion that you would receive a $100 credit to the spa. When we arrived, we were given 2 queen beds. We had to switch rooms. Of course, they didn't know about our spa voucher even though we showed them the paperwork. They paged a manager, who never arrived and told us to come back the next day. And next day, and next day, until we gave up. Our new room was located directly next to the buffet. The workers rolled huge carts directly past our room that sounded like a plane landing outside. It became a game to count how many times we were woken by the carts. 6 was the lowest number, and we're normal sleepers. The shower would not drain and for 3 days we had no hot water in the shower. It was ice cold! There was a definitely septic smell in our section of the resort. I think after the first 2 days we just got used to it. Our toilet got clogged three times (only going number 1) and we had to call them to bring a plunger each time. However, the topper was the 3 inch cockroach I found on our bed one morning!

The food at the buffet was not good. The fresh fruit was hot. We also noticed that they recycled the same food over and over until people ate it. For example, the french fries left over from lunch were tossed into the salad for dinner. We didn't mind the long lines at the bar, but the drinks weren't great. The bartender seemed annoyed if you kept coming back. The entertainment group for the kids at night seemed good, but for anyone over 15, there was not much to do at night. Like us, most people just wandered around the resort. A lot of people had decks of cards.

The other reviewers were not exaggerating when they say the beach was rocky! You really could not walk into the water. Most people were getting the the edge of the water and just laying down and trying to swim out instead of walking into the water. I cut the bottom of my feet on the rocks and got a huge splinter with a rock stuck in it.
On the plus side, the staff seemed very hardworking and nice. It seemed like they were really trying. Sand dollar sports gave excellent dive trips. The specialty restaurants were good and we didn't have a problem making reservations. We got every one we asked for. The scooter station next to the gift shop rented scooters for $35 for 24 hours - the best deal we found. We highly recommend taking the drive around the island. It was our favorite part of the trip. Definitely stop at Coconuts on the Hill. Beautiful views.

We would definitely return to Cozumel, but not stay at the all inclusive Wyndham. Like I said, none of these problems were huge, but they did start to add up after a while. We laughed each one off and still had a great vacation, but I would recommend going elsewhere. I do believe that the staff is working hard to improve the hotel, and in a few years it will be a great place to visit.
