My husbsand and I stayed at the All-Adult portion (Sabor) inside the Wyndham Cozumel Resort and Spa. The grounds are beautiful, clean, and well kept. You have your own private check-in for the Sabor portion, so no waiting in lines to check in. Enrique is the best! He was always at the concierge desk at the Sabor and will help you with whatever, whenever. Katy also helped us with requests, questions, ect. They were both very professional, helpful, and always smiling. We made our dinner reservations for each night upon check-in and our bags were taken to our room and placed in our room while we were checking in. The rooms are nice- we stayed in one of the private pool terrace rooms on the first floor. I would highly recommend booking one of the pool terrace rooms. It was so nice to just step off the patio into our own little portion of the pool- it does connect to the main, larger pool also.

The Sabor has its own restaurant and bars- we ate breakfast every morning at the restaurant there- sit-down served meal, was very nice and by the pool. A la carte dinners were good, we only ate at the buffet in the main part of the resort once- it was fair. I celebrated my birthday while we were there and Katy along with the Manager of Mosaique (Sabor's restaurant) accomadated our request for a private dinner on our patio at a moments notice. We were sitting on our patio overlooking the pool at night and we just wanted to stay there and have a quiet romantic dinner for 2. Our server, Manuel, set-up our table, tablecloths, candles, bottle of wine- it was so nice. We apprecaite everyone getting a special request together for us at the last minute. Manuel also works as a bell boy- and helped us with a speedy check-out upon leaving the resort.

At night the resort was quiet and peaceful (Sabor portion) if you want to go hear music, see local artists, be in a more lively part- just walk to the main part of the resort. There was always something going on at night by the pool/beach.

I highly recomment renting a vehicle and getting out to explore the island of Cozumel. It takes about an hour and a half to go around the main road of the island. We had lunch at Coconut's (on the other side of the island) and it was great! What a view!

If you are traveling without children, the Sabor portion of the Wyndham is the ONLY way to go. We walked through the family pool a few times to get to the beach and it seemed very "kid friendly". I will say that I had to visit the Guest Services desk of the main lobby once and overheard a few guests trying to make dinner reservations for their stay. The restaurant reservations can be made 3 days in advance and the guests seemed to be having a hard time getting into one when they arrived. Some people left the Guest Services desk quite angry because they were only able to get reservations on their last night. I was so glad we were staying at the Sabor part and didn't have to worry too much about dinner reservations.

I had read in some reviews about a "sewer" smell on the walk between Sabor and the main lobby. There was a smell, but certainly not as strong as some reviewers mentioned.

We booked a snorkeling excursion through Rudolpho- he is located on the beach by the family pool.

We will definately be going back to the Sabor at the Wyndham Cozumel!

My husband and I recently returned from a week at the Sabor part of the Wyndham. Upon arrival we where taken to the Sabor section by golf cart for check in with the conciere. Katy was wonderful and explained everything to us. She also made us reservations for the first two nights dinner. My husband loved Roberto's. The buffet was okay but needed a little work on the food tasting a little fresher.
The room was beautiful. House keeping did a great job on cleaning it up. And our refrig. was always repacked. There was an inncodent one night when the pipes on the floor broke at 5 in the morning but the front desk had someone there very fast and had it all cleaned up in a speedy matter. They also offered to switch our room but it was not needed. There are times that pipes break out of anyones control.
The adult pool is only open till 7 pm and we thought it would be nice if it was open a little later.
Security was great and there where never kids in the Sabor section.
The hotel had a very nice romantic dinner on the beach for Valentines Day that we enjoyed. Returning to our room with a towel shaped into a heart and rose petals on our bed. Very romantic evening.
All the employees where friendly and helped with any of our requests. They where awesome.
Check in and Check out both went very smoothly.
We look forward to going back!
(Anyone that is going should take water shoes.)

Ok, so prior to arriving at the Wyndham, i read many reviews from lots of people going back months, so i promised to gather as much information that i could by myself and from others at the resort to try and get the best unbiased report on the resort in general along with some helpful hints.....so here it comes! First of all, yes it used to the The Reef Club which Wyndham bought and converted to its own property this year. First the property - absolutely wonderfully maintained property, very beautiful, walkways all upgraded since the hurricane 1 and a half years back. The rooms - absolutely not a single report from all those I had talked to about bugs...so forget about it! You probably have more at your own home.....rooms are very well taken care of, housekeeping was wonderful, no conerns, very friendly and accommodating....The meals - there are three main restaurants at the resort - Mosaique, Vista Del Mar and Robertos....they all do require a reservation to eat there, but NOT a problem like some reviewers have said, simply go to guest services and make your selection of days and times.....you may not get the exact day and time that you want for the day you arrive and maybe the next day...but it is NOT an issue, the food at those restaurants is 4 star atleast and the option of the buffet is NOT like some advisors have said....please people, you are not at the Ritz or on a cruise ship! The service - the area where the Wyndham might need some improvement on, but only in the numbers of staff that they have working the buffet restaurant and the bar - their attitude and hospitality are wonderful and certainly make up for their sometimes lack of numbers! The Bar scene - at times there were line ups at the beach bar, but I NEVER experienced a time when they ran out of alcohol, nor did the many people i interviewed.....for those who desire top shelf alcohol, either upgrade yourself to the Sabor section or move on....their Mojitos are to die for and i met more people during the short waits in line, so GET OVER IT, and lighten up.... The entertainment - a really fun place to be at, you do not have to be at the Sabor adults only section, most young children were at the kids pool and had no impact or disturbance in the main pool section....from Tequila volleyball to battles on the surfboards, it was all great fun! The Hobie Cat sailboards were readily available as well.....the beach was great, but if you are going into the water, yes beach shoes are helpful as it is rocky, not a fully sandy entrance.....Special evenings were great, Valentines Day dinner was the most unbelievable, romantic and classy event I have ever seen for that day......Diving - I did 11 dives total, and again interviewed many veteran divers on my trips specifically to get their opinion as there are an insane number of dive operators on the island.....if you are staying there and want to dive with someone else, you are just stupid, period! They have a totally professional group of individuals there, excellent facilities, lockers, rinse tanks, rental equipment, cameras, a wonderful little dive shop.....The divemasters are very knowledgable and treat any concerns with the utmost importance - they realize the importance of excellent and safe dives by all those there and the importance of good word of mouth advertising. All most all of the veteran divers said that the Sand Dollar Sports dive team were top notch, don't bother even looking anywhere else!.... So, hope that helps you in your decision about whether to stay there, it is a wonderful place with great, friendly staff, amazingly clean and well maintained grounds, very good food and top service...Never heard any issue of any sickness, lots of bottled water for all!! Enjoy your stay there as I did!!

This was my first trip to any resort type location. My overall rating is more Neutral than average as I don't have anything to compare it against.

A couple of improvements I would love to see. While I know Wyndham cannot provide transportation due to Taxi transportation laws, having a representative at the airport for directional assistance and to protect you from getting sucked into a vacation club presentation elsewhere would have been very helpful.

The resort - We stayed in Sabor the adults section. I would not stay anywhere else unless I had my kids with me. This was a great area, we had a pool terrace room which was fun to have - definately worth the extra $40 per night.

Food - Since we experienced a vacation presentation at Sandos in Playa Del Carmen and experienced their buffet, La Isla was not even close in comparison. La Isla provided good amounts of fruit, and always had traditional Mexican fare which was greatly appreciated. While this was a kid-free trip, before I would consider taking my children here, I would like to see more kid friendly food at the buffet - such as at Sandos (i.e Chicken nuggets - etc fare that you perfer your kids not eat, but you know they will at least eat something!).

For food at anytime Chile's was convienient, but very limited. Hamburguese was good, the pollo (chicken) was horribly dry. For all the ala carte dining, one must keep in mind you are there to relax, otherwise the timing of the service will drive you nuts (at least it did for me).

Bars - the Bar in Sabor ran out of supplies for the famed 'Dirty Monkey' which was my wife's favorite drink. The bars also ran out of the amber Dos Equois.

Location - close to San MIguel which was nice. Based on where it is, the ocean is not as rough as what we saw at Playa del Carmen - this was a huge benefit.

Diving - this was my first time diving ever! If you have not experienced it, the local dive shop on the property makes it so easy and worth your time to take the Discover Scuba Diving course. It is so nice having the shop and dock right there. This just might be the driving factor that will get me back here.

All in all, while I have my various issues and complaints, It was a good first experience at an all inclusive. It was comfortable, and not as busy as Sandos was - that place felt like a zoo compared to the lower key - smaller atmosphere of this place. If you are looking for a place to escape, seriously consider this place.

(now I just want to obtain information from Ricardo about the vacation club/Regency club and how it operates now that I have seen Sandos, I want to compare this opportunity).

  • Liked — adult only section - pool terrance and scuba diving
  • Disliked — food quality at buffet.

We vacationed at the Sabor from 2/2 to 2/9. One of the finest most relaxing vacations I have had. The food is excellent in all of the restaurants, Sure, some are better than others, but for crying out loud we're talking about white linen 5 and 6 course meals here, this is not fast food. Even the Buffet is well presented and has anything you could want. I have seen some review’s pan the Buffet, ignore them, they are attempting to be someone they aren’t.

I can’t think of anything but positive accolades to express about the Sabor. The employees after a week become very familiar and are like family when you leave.
I am thinking of Enrique, Ricardo, Oscar, Hilario Laura, Orlando and many others.

Pay Extra for a room with the pools outside your room. Great to relax at the end of another tedious day with a drink and visit with new friends.

Someone had mentioned tipping, If you are served well, wherever you are, it is only proper and courteous to tip, all inclusive or not. Bring a bundle of one’s and expect to leave them there, spread them around, they will remember who you are and you will have a great time. Which reminds me of someone I saw there who was complaining about having to spend 85 instead of 75 for an excursion that was planned for them. For crying out loud, if you can’t relax and enjoy yourself and have to worry about 10 bucks, stay home.

The evening entertainment is great fun, but this is not Cancun and if you expect to have a big drunken party every nite, this is not the place for you.

The Sabor is a place to relax, soak up some sun, unwind, eat too much, drink all you can, and leave feeling refreshed and ready to go back. Not that you want to, but will have to, so you can afford to come back again and again.
