I noticed that every review is from the perspective of an adult. Well i thought i would give you the opinion of a 14 year old. My mom, dad, 17 year old brother, and i traveled to the Iberostar, Cozumel during the week of july 13- 17. I have been to cozumel once before, and this experience was totally different. We had and amazing trip.
SETTING: When you first drive in the entrance of the hotel, you might be a little freaked out. It looks like a disaster due to the hurricane. But you dont really need to worry about it because once you actually get to the hotel grounds, it is much prettier. The theme is rain forest, so there are alot of trees. There are a ton of different colored huts(hotel rooms) all over the place. The place is really big, so you might have to walk a bit. Iguanas and flamingos are everywhere! They don't bother you at all. They are really fun to look at though. The peacocks may be hard to find, we finally saw them on our last day. I think they come out mostly in the mornings. My family did not get bit by a bug once. I saw probly two flies the whole trip. It's really not a problem.
ROOMS: The rooms really aren't as small as i was expecting from reading all the reviews from the past. But i guess i could understand why people would say that if you tried to fit more than two people in one room. We got two rooms, two people in each, and it was perfect. The bathrooms are pretty big too. I suggest if you use one, you should bring your own hair dryer, theirs doesnt work too well. It has a nice walk in shower also, you might bring conditioner, they only have shampoo. C means hot, F means cold. I took me a while to figure that one out. Leave the maids a tip and the will leave towell animals on your bed!!
POOL: Yes, the pool does close at 7 p.m. and we were bummed when we found out. but really its not that bad. Because if you hang out at the pool all day, your kind of ready to get out. and it also gives you time to get ready for dinner. the pool is huge! They have two big pools, and a shallow area with tanning chairs. They also have a bar in the pool, and one next to the pool incase you dont want to get wet. You cannot see the beach from the pool, which was my parents complaint, but it only takes about 30 seconds to walk down there.
BEACH: Soo pretty! The water is amazing. The bottem is a little rocky, bit i figured that once the water gets to your knees, you can get on you belly and swim until you get past the rocks. However, the other choice is that they have a ladder on the peir that you can just climb down. I would recommend bringing your snorkle equipment. My mom and i snorkled by the peir and there were a ton of fish! We saw a baracuda, and he didnt move, but i would stay away from those if i were you. Once a week, they have a beach party with barbecue, music and dancing. It's really fun.
FOOD: Complaints have been made, however, i have none. The food was awesome! The first night we got there, we had all you can eat lobster! There are some foods that are repetitive, but most are not. There is alot of varity for those picky eaters. We ate at the steak house one night, and it was really good. Try the ribeye, my dad ordered two!
NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT: Completely halarious! A little embarassing though. My dad got called on stage the first night to compete for Mr. Iberostar. And uhm, i'll leave the surprise for you to find out. The starfriends are great. And i forgot to mention that in the morning, they might come to sit and eat breakfast with you. Ishmal is awesome. After the shows, they have a disco that goes on until 2 in the morning i think. Its really fun. *The sewer smell really isnt bad. i barely noticed it. you can only smell it by the theater at night, and its nothing to complain about.*
SNORKLING: We took the boat that came to the Iberostar to pick up( you can get information at the front desk). It was a really great trip. They stop at three different places that get deeper and deeper everytime. They serve you a lunch of a sandwich, chips, and cookies. It's not much but it holds you over until you get back.
Well, I hope you choose to stay at the Iberostar, Cozumel. I would definatly go back.
