My wife and I had a great time at the Iberostar Cozumel in 2004. We got our scuba certification from the very professional and well run Dressel Divers dive shop. We also rested and relaxed in the very peaceful setting of the resort. We had the opportunity to go on vacation again for a week. We wanted a well run all inclusive resort with great diving (we planned on doing 13 dives while on vacation). We thought about the Dominican Republic or even Jamaica, but we thought the diving might not be so great. We did want to stay with Iberostar if possible. Well along came a really great deal from Apple Vacation from Iberostar Cozumel ($849/person for 7 nights air and hotel) and despite our concerns about the recent huricanes and what happened specifically to the Iberostar Cozumel, we decided to go anyway because we had such a great time, love the diving and the price was outstanding.

We were **not** disappointed!!!! The Iberostar Cozumel is running on all cylinders. We saw much of the same staff memebers we met 2 years earlier. Everything was really great - the staff, the diving, the atmosphere. We again felt very peaceful and relaxed on this resort.

Our rooms were extremely clean, and the resort is in remarkable shape considering it went through a devestating huricane only 6-7 months earlier. There are a few minor things in the resort still being worked on but it didn't affect us at all. The only noticable affect I could see were the palm trees which had their leaves stripped off but were were in the process of growing back. My wife mentioned it actually opened up the view of the ocean which was nice!

We had requested a room with a closer view to the ocean and boom - we got it, no extra charge. They were not even charging to use the Internet kiosks this time which was very nice!

In filling out my review of our staff I pretty much gave everything the highest rating I could.

The only thing I would love to see a little improvement on would be the variety of food in the main dining room. Overall the food would get a 4 out of 5 stars for an all inclusive resort, which should be taken as very good overall.

I did notice I started losing my appetitve for breakfast and lunch especially toward the 5 day of my stay. Don't get me wrong, the food itself was good and there was plenty of it. It was just getting tiresome to see the same stuff day after day though. In 2004 there was more variety and I did miss that.

There was plenty of entertainment and the star friends worked tirelessly entertaining and getting guests involved with the many activities they had.

The bar was non-stop and everyday I was so full of cocktails that my stomach would get full before I felt any affects from the alchohol.

The service in this resort is simply top notch and very friendly.

The pool was always very clean.

If you are looking for diving and wonder how it is since the huricane, then don't worry. There are large amounts of sand blown over the more shallow reefs, but the color is there, the reefs and marine life in them are all alive and well. We saw lots of turtles, sting rays, eagle rays, nurse sharks, eels, lobsters, crabs, octopus, groupers, shools of many varieties of fish all over, and yes, we saw the splendid toadfish which is only in Cozumel. All of this within a 5-20 minutes boat ride from the resort. What else could you want from a dive resort?

Overall, definately a 5 star rating and we will most definately go back again for the super high value this resort provides: peaceful secluded setting, all inclusive, some of the worlds best diving.

The sewer smell is really bad - depending on which way the wind blows and in which section of the resort you walk in. During the evening shows (shows were fantastic!) the smell was strong enough to make you gag and also make your eyes water. Iberostar really needs to do something about this problem!

Other than that the rooms were great, service was wonderful and the entertainment staff is especially great! Food was just ok, lots of fried stuff. Need to do something about the smells from the cooking areas - very strong.

We were there the last week in March. Weather was wonderful. We've been there twice, so will try some place different next time.

we stayed at the iberostar cozumel march 25th to april 1,2006, can't say enough good things about this resort it is rated a 4 star but should be a 5, we had a great time the staff are so friendly and helpful they aim to please, the food was very good, the resort is full of entertainment and loads of fun drinks anything you want they will make for you, we never had to wait for anything, no line ups, the service is great they are always making sure you are happy and looked after, the rooms are very clean and nice, we loved it and will return, shopping is also good bring american money as they much prefer this over paco's

if you pay by paco's you pay more..........expect to pay 5.00 american for t-shirts and they are good quailty, never pay what they are asking as they will always come down in price, items at the resort are alittle more then in town but if you don;t want to leave the resort you are still getting a pretty good price, we got good feed back from people that rented jeeps etc and did thier own tours around the island, they had no problems and enjoyed the sites, we did take the ferry over to play dela carmen, this is not for someone who suffers sea sickness as it is pretty rough......

had we known how good the shopping in cozumel was we never would have went over to the other side but all in all it was fun we bought lots and no one bothered us at all, we felt very safe. the beach is rocky but if you wear sandles it is no problem it is quite nice. if you are going to cozumel and would like more info please feel free to contact me at irene62dave@sympatico.ca i would be more then happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

We stayed at the Iberostar Cozumel Apr. 5 - Apr. 9 and thought it was wonderful. This was our first time in Cozumel and we chose the Iberostar, because it is our favorite resort chain. We have stayed at the Iberostars in Playa Del Carmen (both the Quetzal and the Paraiso) and loved them so much we couldn't wait to try the one in Cozumel. It met all of our expectations, and I am very fussy.

This resort is smaller than the ones in Playa so we weren't sure if we would like that, but we did. It had a very quaint and personal feel to it. The staff was amazing, the best of all of the resorts we have been to. All the rooms have private entrances from there porches. Several have partial ocean views. We were near the pool and had a great ocean and pool view. The rooms are small, but nice. Two warnings about the rooms. Some have an adjoining door, which is great if traveling with family, but you can hear everything through the doors. We had to move when we realized this at 10:30 at night, but they were very accomodating. Also, the porches off the 2nd level rooms are dangerous if you have small children. They could definitely slip through. Every porch has chairs, table and a hammock.

We love to try different foods and thought they did a wonderful job with the variety at every meal. Shrimp if different ways every night, grouper, lamb chops, veal, calamari, grouper, etc. Not to mention the variety of fruits, vegetables and deserts.

The shows are as good as the other resorts, but they are working with a smaller staff and did an OK job, but that was not important to us on the vacation, because it was our first without our children and our youngest is 8. The staff does offer a number of activities all day long if that is your choice. We loved to hang out at the beach or pool. We also played tennis and rented a jeep for the day, which I would highly recommend.

The staff works so hard at keeping the grounds beautiful. The only thing missing is the tops of the trees which we grow back eventually. The flamingoes, iguanas, frogs and peacocks are very enjoyable, not to mention the three cats and caged green birds (I don't know the name) that do escape from time to time.

Hopefully the other reviews have covered what I missed, but don't hesitate to email me with questions.

We were at the Iberostar from March 25-April 1.

We too, like a previous post, are a gay trio (polyamorous couple)and had a GREAT time at this hotel.

We researched this resort to death before we booked, so here's our view!

First-the 'bad', nothing is perfect ;)
1) the flight... skyservice... 10hr delay...lost a whole day
2) the beach...nice before getting into the water... very rocky and corally but we knew this before we booked...but walk a bit and the beach gets beautiful
3)desserts...we're picky...hehe
4)expected the hotel to be more 'secluded' from photos in magazines and such...hotels and homes are closeby
5)no #5

The good-great!
1) hotel room...small but very cute and clean... tip the maids...u get wonderful rewards
2) food...was amazing...lots of variety and very yummy!
3) booze...nuff said
4) hotel and grounds...loved the layout of the complex...very clean, and rebuilt wonderfully...very sad about the trees...looks like winter here...no leaves :(
5) shows and games...lots to do all day...and the shows at nite are very entertaining
6) most of all...the SERVICE and STAFF...all are amazing...Roberto & Angelica in the buffet restaurant were great! Angelica always had a smile on her face...the STAR friends-Christain, Leo, Fernando and Edwin-so into their job and it shows in their smiles and personality some of the bar staff were wonderful as well!
7) rent a car and explore the island...we saw alot in one day! Get the mulitcoloured bug at the hotel. ;)
8) was the best resort we stayed at in whole...we stayed the the Iberostar Daiquiri in Cuba 4 yrs ago, so we knew this resort would be incredible when we booked...we weren't disappointed and neither will you!!!
