If you want the atmosphere of the "Perfect Tropical Gettaway!!!!!", 11/03-11/09 This place is by far one of the best on the Island. We traveled the Island and went in to various other resorts to compare. I probably shouldn't let everyone in on this for chance the place will be overcrowded the next time we go! Seriously, It's all about what each individual is looking for in their resort. If you want the real feel of being in a tropical paradise, this place is for you. The Iberostar is all about walking to and from breakfast, lunch or dinner along different paths that give the eyes a virtual tropical orgasm, it's gorgeous!! Walking to and from the beach through soft sand, palm trees, thatched umbrellas and hammocks everywhere.
The food was Great and plentiful. They always mixed up the main dishes in the buffet which was good. One night they had a chef grilling lobster over an open fire(I went there a few times) The margarita's were flowing without care and there was always someone there asking you if you want another! The grounds were kept impeckable, lots of tropical birds and iguannas. Staff was very friendly!
You no doubt want to get a room on the second level which gives you a great view up at the 25 foot thatched roof ceiling(makes you feel like you are in a much larger room). My wife an I were originally put in a lower room but one quick phone call and we were accomodated.
The first 20 yards of the water was rocky, so now you know, get over it and put on some water shoes, that's what these reviews are for, right? Don't complain about the rooms smelling a little musty, you are in the tropics for God sake, get over it again!
People have to understand that you don't come to the Iberostar to stay in your room. If you want to stay in your hotel room that overlooks the ocean and order room service, go up north and you'll find it.
Key note - you must rent a car of some sort that has no roof and travel the eastern part of the island, it is simple breathtaking!!!! You won't be disappointed. Don't do the Jeep tour: you can rent your own and do it yourself (it's more adventureous and you don't have to follow the group)
Another big plus for us - NO ONE WAS THERE BUGGING YOU ABOUT A TIMESHARE, That's HUGE! I've heard nightmares about other resorts wasting your time with that. Speaking of bugs and mosquitos, they really weren't that bad this time of year, we brought bug repellent wipes, they seem to work well.
Best for last - snorkel, snuba, or scuba - which ever you choose, you'll feel like you are in a wonderland. Some of the best in the world!!!!!
