My family & I just got back from a wonderful week at the Iberostar Cozumel in Cozumel, Mexico. We loved it!! The food, the hospitality, the pool, the beach, the entertainment and the snorkling! One of the BEST vacations that we've ever taken. My kids cried all the way home, they did not want to leave. The Iberostar offers lots of day and evening entertainment. . . Luis, Alex, Alicia, Milagros, Edwin, Jerry, Eduardo, Paulo. . .they made the vacation!! My kids loved participating in the night time shows!!! The snorkling right off the pier on the beach was awesome!!!! Lots of fish to see and clean warm water to swim! We intend on returning next year!!! If you're planning a family vacation with kids, Iberostar is the place to go!!!!!!

My family and I went to Iberostar 10/28 to 11/4. It was wonders. I can't wait to go back. First, the rooms were great. Don't get any by the tennis courts because of the sewer smell. The hammock was nice and relaxing. Also just a tip if you leave a couple of ones underneath your pillow you could get some animal towel art. Just watch out for when taking a shower that it does go out onto the floor a little. Just leave the towel there that you see right by the shower door and you'll be fine. The rooms were great size. Just remebering that your only in there to sleep and shower. Enough with the rooms lets move on. The buffet was excellent especailly in the mornings. For lunch we ate at the snack bar by the pool and I mostly had nachos. And at night I had a little bit of it all. The Mexican restuarant was the best. And the Steak restuarant was very good to. It may be true that they have a lobster night but they didn't have one the time we stayed there. :( The shows at night was wonderful. Especailly how they get the audience involved. Alica and Alex were my favorite to. And if you have little kids go to the kids show at 8:30 and at 9 is the preshow and at 9:45 is the show show. A couple of the nights we rented the pool table and we shot pool while watching the show. The same ones who put on the shows at night are the ones who do all the different activites during the day. I recomment water volleyball. It was my favorite. Or getting the whole family to play water volleyball. It was good with our family because we had 12 people going. And I recommend if you have a large number like that going to get walkie talkies. They were the best things to communticate with each other. The beach was very beautiful and the sunsets were breathtaking. Bring water shoes!!!!!!!!! Yes the ocean is rocky. Another cool thing is to snorkel by the pier. And have someone else bring a bread roll from the buffet and throw little pieces of bread into the water by the pier and you could see many fish. If you come to the beach and you walk right there is Albertos Lobster. You should go there yum yum yum. It was very good. WE went there for dinner one night and we had our dinner candle lit. Then we walked back to go and see the show. I recommend everyone going to Albertos. They are very friendly, great food, and they are very nice. One other thing I have to confess about the ocean is that there is NO WAVES!!!!! It just because we our on the side of the other island where across the ocean is Cancun. For all you drinkers out there I recommend getting a Banana Mama. Very good. I will be getting a website with pictures on it so if anyone is interested in see what the resort looks like and all then e-mail me.

If you want the atmosphere of the "Perfect Tropical Gettaway!!!!!", 11/03-11/09 This place is by far one of the best on the Island. We traveled the Island and went in to various other resorts to compare. I probably shouldn't let everyone in on this for chance the place will be overcrowded the next time we go! Seriously, It's all about what each individual is looking for in their resort. If you want the real feel of being in a tropical paradise, this place is for you. The Iberostar is all about walking to and from breakfast, lunch or dinner along different paths that give the eyes a virtual tropical orgasm, it's gorgeous!! Walking to and from the beach through soft sand, palm trees, thatched umbrellas and hammocks everywhere.
The food was Great and plentiful. They always mixed up the main dishes in the buffet which was good. One night they had a chef grilling lobster over an open fire(I went there a few times) The margarita's were flowing without care and there was always someone there asking you if you want another! The grounds were kept impeckable, lots of tropical birds and iguannas. Staff was very friendly!
You no doubt want to get a room on the second level which gives you a great view up at the 25 foot thatched roof ceiling(makes you feel like you are in a much larger room). My wife an I were originally put in a lower room but one quick phone call and we were accomodated.
The first 20 yards of the water was rocky, so now you know, get over it and put on some water shoes, that's what these reviews are for, right? Don't complain about the rooms smelling a little musty, you are in the tropics for God sake, get over it again!
People have to understand that you don't come to the Iberostar to stay in your room. If you want to stay in your hotel room that overlooks the ocean and order room service, go up north and you'll find it.
Key note - you must rent a car of some sort that has no roof and travel the eastern part of the island, it is simple breathtaking!!!! You won't be disappointed. Don't do the Jeep tour: you can rent your own and do it yourself (it's more adventureous and you don't have to follow the group)
Another big plus for us - NO ONE WAS THERE BUGGING YOU ABOUT A TIMESHARE, That's HUGE! I've heard nightmares about other resorts wasting your time with that. Speaking of bugs and mosquitos, they really weren't that bad this time of year, we brought bug repellent wipes, they seem to work well.
Best for last - snorkel, snuba, or scuba - which ever you choose, you'll feel like you are in a wonderland. Some of the best in the world!!!!!

My husband and I were at the Iberostar Nov. 4-7 and loved it. I read post on this web site weeks before we went and I am at a loss to the negitive post. The resort is beautiful, I cant say enough great things about it. The staff was very nice and went out of the way to make sure you are having a great time. They put tons of work into the shows at night and they are also at the pool during the day getting people together to play games and just enjoy your vacation. You can a message by the beach!! The food was good, keep in mind it's Mexico not America!!! And the drinks are so good! I will never stay anywhere else when I visit Cozumel. And one more thing the people that complain about the walk to the front desk and bar are just lazy!!! No it's not right around the corner, but come on your at a resort.. and the sene walking around is worth looking at.. I will always recommend Iberostar to everyone I know going to Cozumel. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me!

I would and have recommended the Iberostar Cozumel to many people. My wife and I went in July 2004 for our honeymoon. On our first walk to our room, we saw 2 different species of iguanas and some anoles. Iguanas, geckos, tree frogs, anoles, and toads were plentiful at the resort. They also have very tame peacocks wandering through the resort. One even came up to our rooms porch when we fed it some crackers. The room itself was very nice, although the thatched roof leaked a little in very hard rains. The resort is all inclusive, and they really mean it. The fridge/mini bar in the room was stocked and included. They have a 24 hour bar at the lobby. The food was excellent. They have a main buffet dining area with a wide selection of entrees and deserts. One night they had 6 different THICK cuts of steak and a grill at the buffet; you picked the steak you wanted and they grilled it right in front of you. You could go back as many times as you wanted. They also had banannas foster for desert the same night. The staff was very friendly and knew us by name despite having dozens if not hundreds of other guests at the resort. All of the regular resort staff spoke fluent english, although most of the cleaning people only spoke spanish. The beach was somewhat rocky, but that is how pretty much all of the beaches on cozumel are. The large pools had a well stocked swim up bar with attentive staff. They also had a show every night at their on site theater. Almost every part of the resort was open air. The dining areas (except for the mexican restaurant) have thatched roofs and no outer walls- they have netting instead to keep animals out. The floors were mostly polished marble. The island itself has many fun things to do such as horseback riding, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, shopping, and many more; however, you could have a wonderful trip without ever leaving the resort. I have been to the Caymans before, and I would rate Cozumel as about equal, but about half the price!
