The atmosphere is very relaxing and the staff really bend over backwards to please the guests. We are divers and we really enjoy the easy access to (and vareity of) great reefs, the short boat rides, the safety conscious dive staff. They juggle a great variety of divers, some very experienced, and some new. My daughter is 11 years old and had some trouble equalizing while doing her final open water certification dives. Rachel, Nico (Necho?) and Miguel all had the patience of a saint in helping her get it done. If you are bone-headed like me and leave your mask and snorkel out in the bushes, they will likely have it for you behind the desk because they work hard to get to know everyone. Videographers are available to give you a souvenir dive video. The dive staff are multi-lingual as are the Star Friends entertainers. All the diving costs are not included in the all -inclusive plan. Being there around Christmas time it was very busy.....sometimes it was like Grand Central station, but they still seem to make a lot of divers happy.
At this resort, there is always a game going on, so if you are not a diver or someone in your group is not, they will find something to do anyway. Water aerobics, beach volleyball, bocce, pool, ping pong, snorkeling right off the pier, kayak, catamaran, the list goes on. My daughter got a henna tattoo, hair braid, and painted colorful ceramics right by the pool. The atmosphere is very conducive to meeting new people... at the pool bar, sitting around the pool, waiting in the lobby for the dinner buffet to open. The buffet is truly amazing. My 14 yr old son was in dessert heaven. The wide variety of food should please even the pickiest eaters. My kids were fairly independent, and we felt safe letting them wander the grounds, hang out and play pool, go to the disco, etc with a curfew. The Dj let them play their own i-pod tunes at the disco.
Overall it was just the right combination for a family of four, kids being 11 and 14.
