So it's not the Ritz, but for the amount of time spent in our room, it was well worth the price. We were on the top floor with a great view of the ocean. The music from the Hard Rock Cafe filtered into our room only one night, but with the air conditioner turned on, it wasn't a problem.
Each day, we left the maid a $2 or $20(pesos) tip and not only did nothing end up missing, but she left us a rose and arranged our shoes and luggage very nicely in the closet (above and beyond the normal cleaning and bedmaking). She also left us the softer towels. Yes, we did leave valuables such as cell phones and cameras in the room, but we made sure they weren't just sitting out as a temptation.
Some of the other travelers in our group complained of leaky showers and no hot water, but we didn't experience any of these problems.
If you're a people watcher, there's no better place than "wall-sitting" outside the hotel's front door when the ferry lets off every hour on the 45 minute mark. Also, the beer in the hotel bar is cheap (only $1 per beer).
