It's one of the cheapest hotels that can be booked online for cozumel. Definately not luxury. If you are unlucky, you get a room with a window only facing the hallway (no natural sunlight!). The least rooms have a balkony. The bar "Fat Tuesday" just besides the hotel can be quite noisy until about midnight and a little later. The hotel has a very central location.
Consider this: I booked this hotel at expedia. The rates on the German site were about 10$ a night less than on expedia.

So it's not the Ritz, but for the amount of time spent in our room, it was well worth the price. We were on the top floor with a great view of the ocean. The music from the Hard Rock Cafe filtered into our room only one night, but with the air conditioner turned on, it wasn't a problem.

Each day, we left the maid a $2 or $20(pesos) tip and not only did nothing end up missing, but she left us a rose and arranged our shoes and luggage very nicely in the closet (above and beyond the normal cleaning and bedmaking). She also left us the softer towels. Yes, we did leave valuables such as cell phones and cameras in the room, but we made sure they weren't just sitting out as a temptation.

Some of the other travelers in our group complained of leaky showers and no hot water, but we didn't experience any of these problems.

If you're a people watcher, there's no better place than "wall-sitting" outside the hotel's front door when the ferry lets off every hour on the 45 minute mark. Also, the beer in the hotel bar is cheap (only $1 per beer).

Stayed at this hotel on an Apple Vacation in January & paid approx. $500 w/taxes & AIRFARE. What a deal. The resort is located right in Downtown, which was great for us as all we needed was a place to sleep for the night. We explored the island & had a great time on the snorkeling tours. At night we spent most of the time at Carlos n Charlies & had a blast everytime. There is also a few local bars that we went to & also enjoyed a few restaurants on the quiet nights we had. The day trip we took to Playa del Carmen was great. The hotel was nice & clean, definately not the Ritz but if all you need is a place to sleep, go for it.

My husband and I stayed at the Meson San Miguel late Feb. 2003. We had a great time! At first when we checked in and saw the rooms we were a little leary. The first night we could not fall asleep because we were not accustom to hear music from Fat Tuesdays. But the rest of the vacation we never even noticed it. The staff was very friendly, and one of the guys helped us negoitate with the locals to get a great deal on snorkle trips and scooter rentals (almost half of what the other people on our trip paid). The hotel is in a great location we could walk to all of the restraunts and stores. We had a great time in Cozumel. I would highly recommend renting scoters and getting away from the down town for at least part of the time. We found great little restraunts with hammock right on the ocean, and they were nearly deserted (as they were on the far end of the island). We also had a blast snorkling at Playa Azul and Chakannab.
