Cozumel was our last stop on our 2-week honeymoon in Mexico. It was our fourth hotel on our trip and not only was a bargain, but perfect for us! We had pre-purchased the dive package and the Flamingo Hotel books with one of the best (if not the best) dive companies on the island.

The staff knew it was our honeymoon and so they created a romantic atmosphere for us in our room. We loved the free Internet access in the bar (for hotel guests only), and the location was perfect! Not too close to the noisy center of town, but a short jaunt on foot.

The only thing that kept me from rating this hotel as "Excellent" was the 20-minute wait for hot water in the shower. But, hey, once you know that you just start the water sooner.

We loved playing pool at the pool table and the location near great restaurants. (The hotel's restaurant is good, too!)

The gals at the front desk were so helpful and personable. My new husband and I are already planning on returning to Hotel Flamingo next time we go diving.

  • Liked — It had a dive package and made all the arrangements with us.
  • Disliked — Takes awhile to get hot water in the shower.

The Flamingo is privately owned by a man who lives in San Francisco. We stayed in the penthouse and, for the most part, enjoyed our stay. The penthouse offers a nice view of the ocean but also, looking down one sees trash and etc. thrown into the lots beside the hotel. No coffee or any food items included in the kitchen area in penthouse. However we bought our own food at nearby store including coffee and the bartender gave us some coffee filters to use. Also, no stovetop rather a microwave provided. There was a TV with DVD player attached and some resently released DVD's provided. Also a book shelf with plenty of English language paperbacks, travel books, etc. The water pressure was poor so showering was had but not particularly enjoyable. The accomodations were clean, maid service was good (maid placed towel "animals" on bed each day) and the staff at front desk and downstairs bar were eager, helpful and spoke good English. The penthouse has nice outdoor seating areas: a table for 4 where we played Scrabble and 4 chaise lounges for taking in the sun. We paid to have breakfast included in the price of accomodation. Originally the cook stated the breakfast was toast, fruit and coffee but agreed to provide eggs and toast instead. The location of the Flamingo is excellent, two blocks from the waterfront and two blocks from a bakery that stays open until 8:30pm where we bought a full bag of goodies and coffee for $3. Also, 2 blocks away is Rentadora Isis - a wonderful local woman who rents scooters and cars. I would recommend the hotel if value and location are your aims.

Hotel Flamingo is a great place to stay in Cozumel. Off the beaten path, but close enough to get to the Market , lots of restaurants and the pier on foot.
Very clean, newly renovated rooms. Staff is very nice.
Great bar with a great bartender, Ivan.
Go and see for yourself!!

We stayed at the Flamingo march 5 thru the 12th. I have to say what a find this place was. The price was right. The location is wonderful. Off the main street but close enough for people to wander in and out. Nice quiet bar. The hotel is very quaint. The staff is over the top wonderful!! Julian the bartender is very kind. Xantal and leti at the desk are just as sweet and helpful as can be. The owner Tom was around to visit with, which I think makes it a little more personal. I fealt breakfast was good. The coffee is outstanding!
I hope it stays this way. Depending on what you look for in vacation, it could be a 5 star. I dont look at furnishings and such, who spends time in the room? The people and place and surroundings make the star quality for me. I will deffinately stay here again! Already planning a return trip!

We brought a group of 6 divers from the Santa Cruz area of California upon my recommendation from eight previous stays at the Flamingo. Everyone in our small group was pleased with the service, accommodations, the friendly atmosphere all of the staff provided. The bar area is terrific and we really enjoyed hanging out listening to live Cuban music on the weekend. Ivan the bartender is awesome! I've stayed at the Flamingo many times because of what I mentioned and it's ideal location, close to restaurants, dive shops, and the boulevard facing the ocean. Tom the owner, in my opinion, goes out of his way to make sure things are right for his clients, and I recommend this small, cute, quiet (except Friday nights of course) safe, and comfortable hotel for anyone traveling to Cozumel.

  • Liked — clean, comfortable, reasonable, good location downtown, friendliness, social evenings with divers, etc.
  • Disliked — seniors may not like the 3rd floor, but I have a way to go before that bothers me!
