“An Okay place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for 2 nights...room had nice decor- shower was ok it was just odd to have a bathroom with a window giving you a brick wall view. Wifi signal was weak in our room...We stayed at 5 different hotels and resorts during our 9days in Cozumel and this place didnt feel like home. Price was higher than others and for the average service we got we felt we over paid. We walked up the stairs up to the last step and when we got to the rooftop we were told we were not allowed there. This place was more of a bar than hotel. The breakfast was very simple blah... we were glad we had days left to enjoy our stay in the island elsewhere. If you want to stay downtown you can try other places for a lower cost and better service and much better view. Have been back to the island 2 times after and I know this is not one of my choices to stay..

We are sorry that we were not able to meet your expectations during your stay. We have 4 rooms on the second floor that have a bathroom window facing a wall, but we never have any problems with this. We are always glad to change your room if it does not meet your expectations. We have several rooms on the 3rd floor with views towards the ocean. The root top sundeck has a jacuzzi and lounge chairs that is available to all guests, this is shown on our web site. We offer a menu for breakfast with a wide variety of options and we recently had our menu revised by a chef, so it has some interesting and tasty choices.

The island was busy when we booked to stay, so we were happy to get the room at such a low price. Wen we turned up it was way better an expected, and very clean and centrally located.
Owner and staff were helpful, friendly and the breakfast was pretty good. Continental was included, but for another 2.50 you get an awesome cooked breakfast!
Recommend to stay here for a few nights to explore cozumel.
Only small downside( if I'm being picky) was the mattresses that felt coved in plastic under the sheets!! An underlay or fabric protector would suffice!

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Flamingo! We appreciate your comments and suggestions. Actually, we are in the process of changing out the bed protectors on the property. The new ones have a felt material that is more comfortable.

We hope to see you again in the future!

I booked my room with a @LivingSocial Deal and traveled alone. Thomas was super accommodating about dates to let me arrive on the day of expiration so I could be in Cozumel for the Solstice/Mayan New Year celebrations and converting my couple's massage to a longer single massage. With the prices for breakfast and 2-for-1happy hour prices as reasonable as they were I couldn't even eat or drink my way through the $50 voucher that came with the deal and gave the remaining half bottle of my wine to new friends as I left. My favorite breakfast dish was the Tortilla Espanol and the fresh OJ was to die for! Oscar makes incredible margaritas and mojitos with fresh juice he squeezed while making them. My room (22) was beautiful...though not for sleeping early, late, or midday as it was just above the bar and front patio. It was never a problem for me and I actually sort of enjoyed the gentle 7am wake up of the patio being setup to get my day going. The a/c drowned out any other noise and the king sized bed was super comfortable. I read complaints about the hot water and you do have to run the water a while but it eventually did get hot. It is definitely a place for folks that like quaint boutique hotels over high-end luxury but it is top of it's class...and attracts awesome guests from around the globe who make for fast friends. Everything was super clean and the staff was amazing. I wanted for nothing and always felt safe...I'll definitely stay there again as well as highly recommend.

If you do stay here, check out El Museo (the restaurant around the corner that is on the 2nd floor of the Museo de la Isla de Cozumel) for delicious food at a great value while watching the sun set over Playa del Carmen to happy hour specials that start as Aqua's end. They also have a 60 peso lunch special that can't be beat. And the $4 museum tour is definitely worth it to put your island visit in context.

We found this hotel through American Airlines vacations packages. Its moderate price, coupled with high ratings, encouraged us to book. We were delighted we did! Our 6-day stay at Flamingo was superb. The hotel is sparkling clean. It's upscale look combines modern decor, simplicity, and Mexican artistry. The staff was friendly, personable, resourceful, and very eager to help us get the most of our stay in Cozumel. Their advice help us find a no-hassle scooter rental, restaurants, and the special places and foods loved by the insiders. The daily breakfast (included) was the best we've had from any hotel. Fresh, cooked to order, and delicious choices. The location (downtown, one block from the ocean, 3 blocks from the city square) placed us within walking distance of restaurants and shops, but far enough to avoid party life noise. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds we've slept on.

The staff was very warm and helpful (Jimena, Oscar, Tom( the owner), ect.. Gave great recommendation on restaurants. The breakfast was great as well. Our room was always clean when we got back from scuba diving. The rooms have A/C!!! The bed was decent, a little hard but I managed. Our room was right by the street which a bummer if we wanted to sleep in because in the morning you can hear all the cars pass by. If your an early riser than it should be fine!!! The only complaint I have was the water pressure and the time it took for the hot water to heat up. It literally took 10 min for the water to heat up. We did talk to other guest and their water pressure and temperature was fine so it might have been just our room. Overall a wonderful experience. Location was awesome as well!!!

My wife and I are no strangers to the island and have stayed at numerous hotels on the island. This was our first time at the Flamingo. Upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly and were promptly shown to our room. The room was spotless with the usual furnishings. There was a small stocked minibar type fridge that I only expected to be in the upgraded rooms. The shower was large and impeccably clean. The single AC unit had no problem making the room feel at home to a penguin. Maid service was great and Elizabeth ensured that a folded towel design greeted us upon our nightly arrivals.
We rented a car from Isis which is the hotel's recommended rental company. Renting from Isis allowed us to use their 24 hour covered parking lot which is a mere 2 minute walk away.
I would like take moment to give a big thanks to Oscar who ran the bar on most nights we were there. He was a fantastic conversationalist and we often spent the nights enjoying drinks and discussing the island.
We greatly enjoyed our stay and the more than friendly staff who greeted us every morning and evening!

Comfortable and clean rooms. The roof deserves more attention, as the view is spectacular!! The staff (Adrian) could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Location is central.

The bathroom light was one small flouresent bulb, so it was a bit dank in there. A VERY small quibble, but a boost in lighting would really be helpful in there!! That said, the bathroom was sparkling clean.

Excellent value proposition ..and the penthouse for about $200 also looks super solid.

Kudos to Shirley for running a very smooth operation!

Room Tip: We had a garden view and really don't spend much time in the room during daytime hours, so view...
