A quick dive trip was made by myself and two dive buddies from 2/29/08 thru 3/4/08. We booked the Penthouse suite at Hotel Flamingo and enjoyed it. The rooftop patio gave incredible views of downtown Cozumel including the cruise ships in the harbor. The suite was spacious with two bedrooms, one room with a double bed, the other had two double beds. A full kitchen was included as was cable television. It came with two bathrooms but the water pressure needed some work. The suite was clean as was the bedding and towels. The hotel had no pool or elevator. The staff was excellant, especially Leticia who helped us out with the cabs. We ate breakfast above the museum (100 yds away) and with the view it was a good deal. The hotel being two blocks north of the square was very convenient in getting into town. I would like to thank Thomas (owner) for putting up with three sometimes rowdy divers from Texas. I would reccomend this hotel if you want a change from the large chains.

I checked into the Flamingo with a friend of mine who became quite sick after eating an egg salad sandwich she had packed for herself for the plane trip to Cozumel. (??!) Needless to say both of us were out of commission for a couple days. She was miserable, resting in the room, and I had to stay close by in order to tend to her while still giving her peace and quiet. Subsequently, I spent a fair amount of time hanging out in the common areas of the hotel when I wasn't tending to my sick companion.
The Flamingo staff was very gracious and welcoming, they were concerned about my friend's welfare and extremely accomodating. Because the hotel is small, a person is able to get to know the staff and the place feels quite cozy. The hotel soon starts to feel like home. Tom, the owner, really went above and beyond to ensure that my friend and I were comfortable. Chantel, at the front desk, was also extremely helpful to us.
The room was spacious and clean and Elizabeth, the housekeeper, has an impressive knack for towel art. I tend to be a bit fussy in terms of thread count and I was happy to find the sheets to be a soft cotton--not polyester. The hotel itself, is nicely decorated with finely crafted hard-wood and a pleasing color palette. The place is well maintained.
Aqua, the restaurant draws a quirky and entertaining group of expats from around the the area who all know Tom, the owner of the hotel. I was blessed with good conversation and pleasant company during my stay there. The Flamingo staff and the other people I met really made a not- so- good situation with my friend's illness a lot more pleasant.

Just got back from Cozumel and stayed from Feb17th-24th 2008..at Hotel Flamingo.

Had the privilege of staying in a Suite as well as a courtyard room. Both were extremely clean and exactly what we needed. We stayed in the Suite Rm#31 for 1 week and when we missed our flight we stayed in the courtyard room.

The Suite was really impressive. Nicely decorated especially liked the bathroom tile work and sink. A nice touch was the fact that it had a mini fridge...which made it convenient to refrigerate our bottled water. The view was nice ...facing out looking over the town and ocean! The whole room had lots of windows and natural light which was a really nice feeling.

The Courtyard room was nice as well...very plain but clean and comfortable!

The great thing about the Hotel is that you are within walking distance to everything! Across the street there is a cute restaurant called El Morrito III with good mexican food. The hotel also has a very nice bar/restaurant. We only ate at the restaurant once for breakfast which was good but american style. We generally only ate at Mexican restaurants! however very close to the hotel there is a large variety of places to eat steak/italian/bakeries etc. Only a few blocks to the main square and ferry docks to Playa Del Carmen.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The maids did an excellent job as well!

Overall we were very happy with our stay and would recommend it to anyone!

Really enjoyed our stay at the Flamingo. The room and bathroom (a superior room) were recently renovated, with lovely white walls and white linens. The staff were really friendly - especially the bartender, Ivan, who went above and beyong to make us feel welcome. A light breakfast was included in the price, which was nice. The hotel is really close to the town center. There's no beach close, but Cozumel is waiting to be explored. The internet and laundry service weren't available when we stayed, but that was the only thing. We'd stay again and recommend it to others!
