“Great hotel, great price, friendly staff!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

This review is a little late but here goes! My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for 8 nights in January 2012. We were really looking for a good deal, nothing too resorty. I found this on Booking.com for only $60 a night I think(it's been awhile!) so to me, that seemed like a great price! I have to say, it was really very nice! The room was a little bare-bones, nothing spectacular, but I'm really not a fussy girl, so it was just fine. It was a little loud though, the windows are wooden slates, so they never fully seal, so whatever is going on outside, you are gonna hear! I'm a very light sleeper and really didn't have too much of a problem with it though, only one night when the bar across the street stayed open late with a live band. Otherwise, pretty quiet. We also went on kind of an off time, so there really weren't too many people, which probably helped with the noise. So if you are looking for a party atmosphere, this hotel will most likely not be the place for you. We wanted to snorkel and there was a pretty good amount of stuff to see out front of the hotel, although it was hard to get to. No beach, that's a bummer but many of these smaller places don't have them anyway. If you walk down to Casa Del Mar, they have a little beach and area with steps to get into the water. So most days, we would walk down there, hop in the water and have the current take us back to the Villablanca. Very nice and relaxing! Getting out was a little difficult! The pool at the hotel is very small and was freezing when we were there. The hotel has a little mart next door with gas station food, alcohol and beverages, so that was nice. It was also located near a few other bars and restaurants, so we didn't always have to go downtown. Technically, you could walk to downtown, it's definitely a walk but it can be done I think. We almost made it one night but were so hungry that we finally had to stop before we got there and eat. By the way, Rolandi's Italian Restaurants are amazing! If you get tired of the Mexican food, this is really great Italian food, we ate here multiple times! Back to the hotel, the staff was very helpful and friendly. We even got offered an upgrade to a better room by the manager without even asking! We declined though because we were already settled in our current room but it was just a really nice gesture. I highly recommend this hotel. If you want a good price but don't want or need to stay at a fancy hotel or resort, then this is a great place to stay.

One of the best hotels i've ever been, is just perfect, the pool, the gardens, the restaurant, and infront of everything there's the beautiful caribean sea, the jacuzi, the rooms, oh, the rooms and the pillows, the bed is just like heaven, it has a tennis court, and it's like a fancy jungle, it has a free spa and gym... LOVE IT!! and the price, OMG is soo good, i could go there like every holyday!

Room Tip: The best ones are the ones parallels to the pool

We stayed at the Villablanca for 2 weeks in Feb. 2012. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and wouldn't hesitate to return. Our room was clean and spacious. The grounds are well kept and the staff is very friendly. There were some great restaurants nearby and good nightlife across the street. The snorkeling is ok in front, but I recommend going on a boat further south along the island. Mardi Gras in town was a blast. Much more fun than Playa del Carmen. Great time of the year to go. The pool and huge hot tub were always in good condition and we met several new friends hanging out there. Quite frankly, I didn't want to go home. I'll look forward to my next visit.

Room Tip: We had a kitchen in our room which was very handy and a nice sized private balcony.

We had to cancel a trip here last year due to a medical emergency. Villa Blanca honored our reservation for exactly a year later. No fuss or debate. I am very grateful to them for this.

Initially I was a little put off by the general condition of the hotel and grounds- a typical Cancun-style luxury palace it is not. However, the place grew on my wife and I. It is well located. It is clean. On a diving trip, what more do you want?
If seeking a luxury all-inclusive resort, book into one. This is for the low maintenance diver who just wants a clean room near a diving pier- and close to a few bars and restaurants.

Wi-fi NO WAY it doesn't work, but does chg to your credit card for attempting to use it. The desk staff is clueless, the pool is FULL of locals and diapers everywhere on the ground surrounded with beer bottles. No parking except for the locals. Noisy!!!! 13" TV comes on when it wants to all nite, if you lean way out of the window you can see the ocean. Towels and sheets are 300 years old and never changed out, Long hairs on the blanket and sheets but the air conditioner works well.

Room Tip: Stay here if you do not care about parking, cleanliness, service, sleeping, or service.

The grounds of the Villablanca are maintained perfectly; the pool and hot tub are in excellent condition and inviting anytime of the day or night! But in Cozumel it is location, location, location! Villablanca is positioned so that you have everything you need within walking distance or a less than a 3 kl drive to downtown, via taxi ($4-$8, depending on how white you are and or level of espanol- Lmbo, but I'm being serious) Taxi drivers are unionized and CANNOT pick up at the airport but can DROP U OFF!

Don't fall for the crazy sales folks at the freaking airport! You flew to Cozumel so leave the airport, maybe check in to the hotel you have already paid for before you overpay for something your hotel can likely give you a better deal on. At Villablanca we received accurate information when we requested it from Jorge or Arturo; both were always helpful and if and WHEN WE asked something they were not able to answer immediately they found the answer and would call or come to our room to provide the correct information.

This was not my first stay here but it was my husbands. He enjoyed it very much and said whenever we come to the island (WITHOUT our Diva's) we will always stay at Villablanca. It has everything we need, its clean, its an friendly small hotel where staff and guests smile and greet one another. ALWAYS, go the upgrade its $10 a day and well worth it to be at the front of the hotel.

My only negative comment about Villablanca is the cash only restaurant. Arturo always managed to get change for us (sometimes USD sometimes Pesos) but we would sure love to be able to eat and drink for the week then just charge my bill at the end of our stay.

No spas (ie: isn't for divas) Great dive shops next door and across the street. We used Dive Paradise across the street and Papa Hog (next door) is a bit proud of his tanks and time! LOL....

We had MOST xcellent service with Dive Paradise and if you are visiting during the week schedule your times to NOT correspond with the cruise ship(s) docking. Meaning, on those days definitely take the earliest or latest dive times offered so that you don't deal with to many ppl on your boat! The most we ever had for a before 9am was 4 total and the same with after 3pm!
