We stayed in a superior room S13, on the second floor for one week. It had king bed and single bed/sofa, tv, phone, small fridge, I always had a warm shower, they supply soap and shampoo, but I always bring my own.
The room was clean and spacious for the 3 (women) of us and so was the outside areas and grounds.
The balcony is very tiny, room for only two plastic patio chairs, you have a view of the ocean from it. The gardens are beautiful and well taken care of. The pool is not heated. The hot tub was warm. The restaurant was open, we never eat there, choosing to go out and discover different fare. The staff all seem to be friendly and polite except when we checked in at 11 pm at night, our Sunwing flight was 5 hours late. The guy at the front desk started to argue with me and said I should contact my booking agent..... not something you want to hear after arriving late, tired and pissed off at the airline.
Read more of the recent reviews as I do agree with most of them.
Not the ones after Hurricane Wilma, what would you expect after a devastating hurricane.
The only problem with this room was the wall airconditoning was old and mouldy smellling. I contracted a lung infections from it, which I am still trying to get over. I also had to wash all my clothing because they all smelled of mould and Freebrez my suitcases and luggage as they all smelled bad. There was no ceiling fan as advertised, which would have be enough for me.
There are better superior rooms, which I checked out as the maid was cleaning them. Some with full size fridge and micowaves. The standard rooms are very small and at the back of the property. They could consider buying some new chair pads for the outside plastic loungers and for the cast iron patio
sets, hard to sit on after a half an hour. I won't comment on Papa Hogs, cause everyone and the owners have. We ate there, if you are hungry go somewhere else , the portions are snack like, unless it is breakfast.. This hotel is a quiet, relaxing place to stay... as opposed to a busy AI party hotel.

We just returned from our wedding in Cozumel. We and our 32 guests stayed at the Villablanca. We also had our wedding reception there - with dinner and drinks at Nemo's and the party in the Penthouse.
The staff was very accommodating with our large group. The rooms were clean and quiet, and overall, everyone thought it was a great choice. I particularly loved the location of the hotel, and I don't think you can find another beachside hotel for the money. The hotel also had great character, with authentic artwork and beautiful gardens.
We had drinks on the roof of the restaurant and dinner at Nemo's for the reception. It was truly the best meal I had in Cozumel. Bravo, Arturo!! He made the best pina coladas, chicken molle, and fish with ajillo sauce EVER. And the penthouse and terrace provided the perfect place for our wedding reception.
Across the street, there's a great bar too - the best bar in Cozumel - with great music and drinks, and you can sink your feet right into the sand and watch the sun set.
My only change would have been the showers - they use salt water. And I would have liked to have safes in the rooms. But overall, it was a great value and I would definitely stay there again. THANK YOU for being so flexible with such a large group!! It was great to be able to go to the hot tub at 11pm and order pizza!

Villablanca was just enough for us. We came to the island to dive, not to hang out in out hotel room, just a place to crash. The price was ok for what we were looking for .the rooms wer clean and cleaned every day. The best was the access to the Dive Shop (POPA HOGS) which was right there. S&N

My husband and I spent 7 nights at Villa Blanca as part of a skyauction.com trip. We had a Superior Room. We were there to scuba dive.

The bed was huge and yes it was quite firm but we liked that. The room itself was quite large with a decent size fridge. Would have liked a coffee maker and a microwave and it would have been perfect! We were on the ground floor and enjoyed our little terrace.

Our air conditioner was an old one and it worked although was quite loud. We used our ceiling fan at night and did not need more than that. Some of the rooms have newer airconditioners.

The place was clean enough the maid came in every morning and each day our towels were folded into different animals either on our bed or in the bathroom. A nice touch.

The hotel is very old - it is budget pricing - you get what you pay for. If I were to go back I would consider a suite. We ate a large lunch at Papa Hogs next door we found the food good and reasonable priced. Snacks and our morning coffee (when their coffee machine wasn't broken) from the 0XX0 convenience store beside Papa Hogs because it was stronger than PH's

My husband and I are not very good for restaurant critics as we are not into fine dining - we are into good food at affordable prices. For breakfast we purchased fruit, yogurt and protein bars. The grocery store is 15 minute walk from the hotel or a short taxi ride (no shortage of taxis).

It is about a 45 minute walk to San Miguel - which we did a few times we were there. We like to walk.

We had a rental car 1 day and we drove to the East cost of the island and visited San Gervas Ruins - very small but worked for us. Pretty drive, very windy. We stopped at Chen Rio Beach for lunch, incredibly gorgeous and a tad pricey so we had a drink there and then headed off to Bob Marley's which was much less crowded and much less expensive, good mexican food.

Don't go to Villa Blanca if you are looking for a 5 star resort. The island has been so devastated by Hurricane Wilma I am not sure I would go there at all if I wasn't a diver. They do however have some lovely all inclusive resorts if you are looking for a more posh stay.

Cozumel is now a major port for large cruise ships. From the pier at Villa Blanca you could see both of their ports. Forgot to mention that Villa Blanca it was located on a busy street across from the water front. There is no beach to speak of. Nice little beach club however that we did not go to but people seemed to be having fun.

The diving was amazing, some of the best diving we have ever experienced! We dove with Papa Hogs as we dive with Ground Hog Diver's here in Kitchener. We do like them. They have excellent and knowledgable dive masters and no more than 6 to 8 divers at a time. Villa Blanca is right across the street and that is a great convenience. If you go to Papa Hogs Web site they have some diving deals listed that are good value for your money.

So in conclusion I am not sure if I would go back to Cozumel anytime soon but if I did, it would be to do some diving and I would most likely stay at Villa Blanca again. It grew on us as the week went by and we settled in nicely and made it work for us.

Let's face it. Americans have high expectations when it comes to hotel accommodations. If you expecting white down duvets and fluffy pillows, flat screen TV, endless pool, etc. don't stay here!! If you enjoy simplicity, cleanliness, charm, convienience, and affordability, this is this place for you. I just went down for a week of diving and relaxing...don't know why else you'd go to Cozumel and although at first impression, I was a little unconvinced that this was going to be a comfortable stay, by the second day, I was settled in.

The Villablanca sits right across from Papa Hogs dive shop and dive boat/dock. It was wonderful to simply walk across the street in the am and hop on the boat. Although a somewhat lengthy walk, you can go into downtown safely (sidewalk all the way there) and a nice view of the ocean the entire way. I always felt safe during my stay here and hey, after a few cervezas and a long day out on the ocean, who needs a cushy bed?

Yes, the showers are not so great (low water pressure and spotty hot water), but the maids kept it very tidy and I appreciated a large enough room to spread out in. I would definitely reccommend the upgrade to the superior rooms. Never saw the villas, so don't know how those are.

The rest./bar across from the hotel has decent food (mostly snacks), but you can't beat watching the sunset from their lounge chairs! The hotel rest. is also charming. The owner is friendly and ready to please. Good coffee is hard to come by in Cozumel although they have a Starbucks downtown. I would reccomend the hotel rest. for breakfast (the french toast is lovely) and coffee but if they're not open, you can hit up the OXXO store down the block for coffee.

Mostly I would say if you're a "stay in your room" and hang at the hotel mostly kind of person, this might not be the most ideal stay for you. The fun of going to Cozumel is exploring the island (definitely check out the other side of the island). You can rent a car from the hotel. If you're adventurous when eating out, ask the locals for the best places to avoid the tourist traps.
