Our second trip to Cozumel and the Caribe Blu and Blu Angel Dive Shop was as good as the first a couple of years ago. The staff at the hotel and dive shop were great and very helpful with information and advice.
The Caribe Blu is not fancy, but is comfortable and relatively inexpensive. So those people who are looking for a pampered and catered existence should not go there. But it is a hotel run for and by divers, so if your purpose is to see the variety of the Cozumel Reefs with expert divemasters I can heartily recommend it!
The only disappointment was seeing the devastation of the shore reef from the hurricane. The close-in reef is pretty much gone, but there has been some construction of "reef-starter" concrete to encourage growth. Still interesting life to see even without the coral--we watched a Conger Eel foraging for food for a long time right at the exit point by the hotel.

Definitely sign up for night dives with the Blu Angel! They were fantastic! Thanks especially to Opal and Jorge for making our trip memorable.

My husband and I stayed at Caribe Blu from July 21st-25th. This was our second time in Cozumel but our first at this hotel and we loved it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either the hotel or the attached dive shop to anyone. We were looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay where we could enjoy both the diving and the town. Caribe Blu met and exceeded all of our expectations. We had a room on the fourth floor which meant a beautiful view from our balcony, especially at sunset. The room was impeccably clean, with nice comfy beds and a natural feel with concrete floors decorated with stone in sea life patterns. Each floor of the hotel has a water cooler and they provide pitchers and glasses, so you have access to cold fresh water anytime you want it.

The Blue Angel dive shop is attached to the hotel, so it is super convenient. You can store your gear there, so no need to share your shower or bathroom with wet stinky dive gear, which is always a plus. This trip was my husbands first time ocean diving, so he was a little apprehensive, but the dive masters were excellent both with the briefing and in the water, and he was comfortable and loving the ocean diving in no time. He also was using the shops rental gear which was consistently in good condition. We did 12 dives with Blue Angel, mostly with Jose as our dive master, and we'd both be very happy to dive with him again, or with any of the other dm's we dove with. Everyone we met on the dive boats was a long time repeat customer of Blue Angel which says a lot about the quality of their operation. No one is going back and back unless they are doing something right!

As was the case with our last trip to Cozumel, we loved the beaches, the beautiful ocean, the town, but the best thing about Cozumel and Caribe Blu/Blue Angel was the people we met. The people both at Caribe Blu and Blue Angel were wonderful to us, even going out of their way to help my husband plan an anniversary surprise for me. Thank you Jeanie, Jose, Pumba, Jorge, Henry, and everyone else for a wonderful and memorable trip. We WILL be returning.

As a scuba instructor looking for a place to take divers on trips, I was recommended Caribe Blu & Blue Angel by a friend. Being somewhat skeptical and wanting to be sure that this was going to be something I would be proud to introduce people to, I was not disappointed.

The hotel, Caribe Blu is perfect for a dive trip. The rooms are basic, not fancy, but that is what most divers expect on a dive vacation. Concrete floors with stone inlays of sharks, rays, octopus. Simple but functional bathrooms. Beds get made and fresh towels supplied daily. Two double beds per room, A/C, TV, small balcony with table and chairs with a place to hang dive gear to dry. Refrigerators are available upon request.

The views are awesome facing west just feet from the ocean. Sunsets are incredible.

The staff is friendly, helpful and works to make guests happy.
Couple this with a dive shop, Bule Angel, right next door that has a small restaurant above, a dock where the dive boats pull right up and you have the makings of a great dive vacation.

Blue Angel is the icing on the cake. Jeanie has a clientel that consists of a large number of returns couple and groups. Some of these have been returning to Caribe Blu/Blue Angel for many years. It was interesting to be a "fly on the wall" and listen to so many people that keep returning to this operation year after year.

Dives start out fairly simple so the DM's can evaluate new clients skills. After all, anyone can fill in 2,000+ dives on a sheet; a good DM can see if that skill is apparent during a dive.

The dive masters are great, some of the best I've witnessed in my 18 years of diving. Happy with their jobs and employer, helpful to make each diver comfortable no matter what the experience level.

I spent a week at Caribe Blu making 4 dives per day all over Cozumel with Blue Angel, getting a "sampler package" with almost every DM they have. Each one has his own personality, but is helpful, courteous, works hard and watches out for each person in their care.

Most of the people I met while staying at Caribe Blu were some of the nicest people I have ever met. I handed out all the business cards I had, not as a ploy to garner more busness, but as a way to stay in contact. I hope to stay in touch with these people and hopefully meet them again at Caribe Blu or some other destination.

I have no reservations at all with returning to Caribe Blu and Blue Angel. I will be booking group trips with them every chance I get.
This is a quality combination of hotel and dive operation that I will proudly recommend without reservation.

My only complaint is that the beds a little firm for my liking, but nothing a good day of diving can't cure!

Internet does not work on Floors 3 and 4. So dont be folled by claims of "rooms with internet" they just dont have them.

A $90 router would fix that but I guess they are too cheap.

We have multiple bug bites from these beds. Lots of ants and lots of spiders in there rooms. We were on the 4th floor so id image worse on lower floors.

No elevator! 4 flights of stairs with all your Dive gear, think about that. We were miserable.

Staff at the hotel is very nice, dont speak much english though.

No refrigerators in the rooms, well a few have them but most dont. They say they cant afford them.

The Dive shop next door is decent at best. The owner is fairly rude.
