We went there with a family of 4. I am a certified scuba diver, my 14 yr old son wanted to get certified, my wife and 16 year old daughter wanted to lay out by the pool and do a little snorkeling. Lets first set expectations, this is not a 5 star resort with a spa & massage service; so if you are looking for that then I suggest you go elsewhere.

However we have been to the big all-inclusives and especially if you are on a diving trip I prefer Caribe Blu. It is a relatively simple facility, with a small pool right on the ocean. There is a snorkel and scuba area you can use right behind the property. For the real good diving at the reefs you need to go on the boat trips. The rooms are very large and clean. We had a minor problem with the shower and they promptly changed rooms for us while they contacted maintenance. If you need internet connections there is wireless for your laptop in the hotel lobby area. The night desk clerk only speaks spanish, but you will not have any communication issues speaking only english.

You can walk to downtown Coz for all the restaurants & shopping, or you can take a cab. It is maybe a one mile walk to downtown. There is a little more adventure going downtown & trying different restaurants, rather than the all inclusive buffets. We felt safe the entire time, even walking to/from downtown at night. In dowtown Coz you will find everything from high end restaurants, the cruise ship bar & grill hang outs, and many local Mexican choices. The hotel restaurant food was terrific and a great value, but is only open until late afternoon. Most people walk or cab downtown for dinner.

The diving is outstanding, and I would highly recommend this dive shop to anyone. The full PADI certification class my son took was better than anything he would have had at home. He was one on one with the instructor for all 3 days (compared to a 10/1 class ratio at home). I was able to dive with him during class and checkout dives. I got to do my first night dive....great experience. The dive masters were terrific and friendly. Special thanks to Mauricio & Franco, but they were all great. Just about all are bi-lingual so no worries if you do not speak spanish,....most of the discussions are in english. They try very hard to be flexible and with their small boats they can accomodate diver/snorkelers of varying abilities. Much better than the big resorts with large group dives!

We had a video made of my sons checkout dive. The videographer did a tremendous job and on the video we have everything including a 6 foot swimming morray eel, lobster, barracuda, rays, countless colorful fish and coral shots, and they captured the emotions of both Dad & sons smiles all set to music. I have had a similar video done in florida and this one was much better. Cost was $100 for the video and after seeing it back home several times I just can not say enough good things about the quality. My wife and daughter went along on the boat and they were able to snorkel.

Resort coordination through Jeanie is terrific. She will answer all your questions, down to airport logistics from either Cancun or Coz. I travel a lot, and I can honestly say I have never felt more comfortable making arrangements and getting more complete anwers from a hotel than I did in emailing and phoning Jeanie and her husband. Whatever Caribe Blu is paying her she deserves a raise, because it was her promptness and detail that made me select Caribe Blu (combined with great Trip Advisor ratings).

Best of all the entire hotel bonds for the week and you get to know most of the people. Everyone shares their dive experiences at the restaurant, and there were people from around the world. (UK, Austrailia, Scotland, Canada, and many from the US).

To be fair I have to list a few very minor negatives:.........not all rooms have a refrigerator, and the A/C in our room was OK but could have used a little more power. It would have been great at least a few nights to have the hotel restaurant open for dinner. It is a pretty short list of negatives.....and all things considered I give this plain little scuba hotel very high marks!

Had read so many great reviews, but found this place disappointing. True, it is right on the ocean, but it is also right on the main road and noisy, add to that the dive shop's noisly unloading tanks at 5:00 AM we can only say the place was noisy.

The a/c did not work well, the toilet leaked, the outlet in the bathroom did not work...well, you get the picture.

Add to that that we paid a deposit in dollars, were quoted a price
in dollars, and yet when they went to put the bill on our card it was put in at pesos (at the rate of 11.5 pesos to the dollar rather
than the 10.8 at which our bank converts--leading to an overcharge in my opinion) and all I can say is that we did not
enjoy our stay and will not go back.

Divemasters at the dive shop were just fine, however. So I would dive with them again.

My Partner and I were brought to Caribe Blu by long time fans of this operation and we were not let down. The hotel- simple, immaculately clean, conveniently located so that you could take a leisurely walk into town or a cheap cab ride, with the main grocery on the way. Caribe Blue has its own Dive Operation attached to the hotel - Blue Angle. This might be the most professional operation I have found on Cozumel and the most convenient for the seriously committed divers. Wake up in the morning, stroll upstairs to breakfast, stroll back down and take 20 steps - you are now on the dock, ready to easily board their waiting dive boats. No taxis with wet suits and gear, no fuss, no muss. Return to dock, step off the boat, rinse your gear in the provided fresh water tanks, step upstairs and its time for 2 for 1 margaritas. Want to snorkel or dive right off their dock - day or night..not a problem and a great location.
Through no fault of the hotel or its grounds, My traveling partner broke her ankle the first full day we were there - while she was in the emergency room, a quick call to the hotel had as moved from a second floor room - down to a ground level room, and while they were at it, they moved a lounge chair from the pool to the patio outside her room!
The following days were trying for us, but the hotel staff was amazing!! They arranged for reasonably priced medication to be delivered to our room, found us a wheelchair to rent (which was a very difficult task) and were always on hand to help move her, deliver food and beverages to the room and generally help us navigate a very difficult situation.
I've stayed at 4 star hotels that werent half as warm, helpfull and on the mark.
Oh, and for the regular stuff...limitless pool towels, hot water, great AC, mini fridge, housekeeping, wireless internet, TV (with english stations as well), they were right on the mark.

The Management was friendly and honest. Rooms were clean, straight forward, though rustic. Plumbing was spartan in our fourth floor room--no toilet paper down the commode, for instance, (but we probably shouldn't be doing that anyway). Linens were fresh and clean, though the beds were a little hard. Great place if your main interest is diving, diving, and more diving--and you don't care about frills.

We spent a week here and enjoyed it. The hotel is not fancy, but has tv, air conditioning, free internet in the lobby(have to ask for the computer), pool, and plenty of hammocks. It is about a mile walk to town, which we felt 100% safe walking to even at night. Most guests are divers although we were not. Accomodations are very basic, but being on the water was really nice. There really isn't a beach, but you can grab a hammock or a pool chair and relax the day away. The attached dive shop will rent you snorkel gear if you want to snorkel right by the hotel. The restaurant was disappointing. The day we went there were tons of bugs (outdoors) and the prices of ice cream seemed to fluctuate with who was the cashier that day.
