My husband and I stayed for our second time at Caribe Blu. Our opinion has not changed much from our first stay, and this is a good thing! What we enjoy the most about Caribe Blu is the atmosphere of SIMPLICITY ! At the Caribe Blu, you will NOT find Timeshare reps, waiters working for tips or day guests. There are no Spas , Bars, or gift shops. What you do find are 12 very clean, newly remodeled, simple rooms, basic amenities (ie: bar of soap, fresh towels, a shampoo and conditioner, in-room phone for local calls and in-room safe). Internet service is available at the front desk at the shared house computer. Just be aware that the keyboard is configured for Spanish, however, the person at the desk will help you find the keys you need. Caribe Blu has a crystal clear pool, deck chairs, Palapa's for shade, hammocks for resting. There is also a small grotto area for playing in the ocean. A pier is located at this property which is very convienent for divers. Next door to the Caribe Blu is Blue Angel Dive Operation. You are however, not required to use them. Divers have access to the rinse hoses here as well. Ask the Blue Angel folks about Shore Diving at the Caribe Blu. There is actually a mapped area that has many points of interest. Upstairs from the dive shop is a breakfast/lunch cafe. The menu has fair prices for a simple menu. We discovered the French Fries and could not resist ordering them twice. Many of the locals visit this cafe. Daily you will find Divers, Divemasters and tourists just looking for a quick and simple meal. We also requested a refrigerator for our room and kept sandwich fixings and drinks for quick snacks and meals. A 10-15 minute walk into the Chedraui grocery store for supplies is very delightful. A $4.00 cab ride gets you back to the hotel with your goods and provisions. After getting back to our room after our dives, cleaning up and resting, we would either walk or take a cab into town for dinner at one of many excellent restaurants. Prima's for Italian, La Choza and Especias for local fare, Rock N Java for American standards, just to name a few. We not only enjoyed our second vist to Caribe Blu, we are also looking forward to our third.

My family stayed at the Caribe Blu just one week after the hurricane in mid July. The hurricane certainly left it's mark on the island. The damage to the trees and flowers was sad to see. However, the graciousness of the people of Cozumel was in fine form. Even after such an event, the citizens were very nice and helpful to all of the tourists.

Upon our arrival at Caribe Blu, we were informed that the hotel did not have electricity and could not permit us to stay as they had a few minor repairs to attend to. The owner of the property, Pedro, had made arrangements for us to stay at his other property, Villas Las Anclas. It was things such as this that make Cozumel such a great place to visit.

After two days the Caribe Blu was ready for guests. We arrived and had a great view from our third floor room of the water. The sea breeze was great. Our room was pretty basic, two beds, tv, bathroom, and a place for the clothes. The beds were comfortable and not rock hard as many describe. If you are looking for luxury and all of the bells and whistles, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a nice basic room on the water, this will fit your needs.

A small restaurant is located above the Blue Angel Dive Shop right next to the hotel. The food is good and the prices are fairly cheap. Our family of four had full breakfasts and we got out for about $22.00. The restaurant serves breakfasts and lunches and closes about 3 p.m.

Cab rides to town were about six dollars. We did not have any problem flagging down passing cabs from in front of the hotel.

The beach at Caribe Blu is basically rock. You will find areas that you can enter in to the water for swimming and diving. The snorkeling is fairly decent right out from the hotel. I would book with the dive shop and take a three reef tour to see the real beauty of the waters around Cozumel.

The hotel does offer a swimming pool for relaxing and swimming. The pool is a nice alternative if you dont care for salt water swimming.

The staff does their best to take care of the guests. They were plenty busy having to deal with the repairs needed from the hurricane, yet they found time to help us out whenever we needed anything.

Overall I would recommend this hotel if you want a basic, clean place to stay. The location is great and so are the people. If you want luxury, check out the Presidente'.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for a week in April. We had a great time. It's a some-what small hotel so you get to know the people that are staying there also. Everyone that we meet were great! The pool was small, but perfect for sitting by the pool drinking a beer. The resturant associated with the hotel was awesome! We had breakfast every morning before scuba diving, and it was fast and good. The breakfast was reasonably priced (2USD to 6USD and coffee was free). When we got back from scuba diving we ate lunch at the cool resturant. They have the best Chimichangas! The lunch was also spectacular, and very inexpensive (around 4USD to 7USD)! The premises was clean and presentable. The service was great. Jorge (George) was the best door man ever, and was very helpful. I would highly recommend the Blue Angle dive shop right next door. The best Dive guide was Jorge (another Jorge, apparently some of the locals call him 'Ricky Martin'), he made the dive really fun and was able to find some really cool aquatic life. And for the ladies...he is also very cute! There is no beach, and the shore of the Caribe Blue is rock. We decided to take a night dive off of the shore, and was sort of difficult to manuver off the shore. The night dive was really neat and was only a couple feet from your room. TONS of aquatic life for a shore dive.
I would highly recommend this hotel. If you are looking for a big resort with umbrella drinks and your personal waiter named 'Juan'.....this is not the place for you.

If you're a diver and want a hotel that's perfectly set up for the SCUBA world, then this is it. Just a healthy walk south of San Miguel, this small hotel is the perfect place for divers who are used to seeking their own adventures. The hotel is connected to the Blue Angel dive shop and a small restaurant which offers breakfast at 7:00 AM and lunch after the morning's dives. Unlimited shore diving to one of the prettiest reefs in the area and plenty of air or Nitrox to grab and go. Neatly kept grounds complete with pool and hammocks, it is the ideal place to unwind prior to heading in town for the evening. A wonderful experience and a place where I'm sure to return.
