After a great wedding we took off to Mexico the following day. We flew right into the Cozumel airport, and made it past the timeshare people (orange shirts= stay away) without any hassles. We booked the shuttle to our hotel, and were dropped off promptly. Checked into the hotel around noon without any problems. Had to leave the credit card on file with a 200 USD or 2000 peso limit. I already paid for the hotel through travelocity and was a little nervous at this especially since my brain was not thinking pesos at the time. Front desk spoke english very well and explained everything very well.
Spent the afternoon unpacking/snorkaling right outside on the hotel's beach and just enjoying the sun. Had a late lunch/early dinner at the resturant right next door (I think it might be part of the hotel never asked). The food was good here, though the service was slow. Most of the staff didn't speak english well so we had to talk with broken spanish/english. After dinner we met with one of the excurtion organizers that the hotel arranged for us. Planned all our activities without any hassles.
Everytime we wanted to go into town and leave our little haven (the hotel/hotel's beach) the front desk would radio a taxi for us. While we were gone our hotel room was always cleaned spotless, and a new bottle of water (1.5 liters) was left everyday. The water was a nice touch as it made our travels/adventures easier without having to stop and buy bottled water.
The hotel also has its own pier, and after our deep sea fishing trip we were dropped right off at our hotel by the fishing charter company. This was EXTREMELY helpful as there were four cruise ships docked at the time. It would have been impossble to get a cab in town back to our hotel.
We also took advantage of the Cozumel Golf Club membership and went golfing. It was a beautiful course, and the greens fees were waved do to our hotel. The hotel spa was also very enjoyable, and was easy to make an appointment for the same day.
When you are winding down at night and not enjoying the surf from the oceanview balcony the wide variety of TV channels were a nice reminder of home. The had all the cable channels we have here...just some are in spanish, which was cool. Note that every single room at this hotel has an oceanview.
Overall, this has been one of the best experiences I have had at a hotel, and I travel about 70% of the year on business. I am not big into going places twice, but would make an exception for this lovely hotel.
