I cannot begin to tell you how impressed we were with Playa Azul. The location was great and since it is a smaller Hotel we did not have to fight a bunch of people. It was very relaxing. The room was perfect. I don't think they have any rooms without great views. Not to mention that the quality of service was superb. All the staff made a point to know our names and always were very prompt with request. The rooms were impecibly clean and very roomy. The breakfast was by far the best buffet style breakfast I have had at any hotel.

We had our wedding here and if you are considering a destination wedding, we highly reccommend Playa Azul. Both the hotel staff and the wedding coordinator went above and beyond with our request. It was spectacular.

Sorry this post is a little late! I went to Cozumel with my mom over the summer for a mom/daughter trip! She had heard about Playa Azul. We wanted to stay in a smaller hotel so we would be able to explore more and experience some of what Cozumel had to offer. We did not want an AI.

Playa Azul is located close to the airport and since we rented a car we were in luck as far as transportation into town. Playa Azul is not located in the heart of Cozumel, but is great. The rooms were basic with 2 queen beds, tv, shower, etc. They had a nice beach bar that we went to upon arrival b/c our room wasn't ready yet. I had a Mojito (that was about the only thing I did not like about our trip) and mom had a cerveza.

Once we checked into our room, there was a nice little towel art displayed ont he bed. The beach was great. Although it was small and rocky you could definately get in to cool off and snorkel around. I have to agree with the other posts that the pool wasn't so great. It didn't look very clean, but we are beach girls and don't really care that much about the pool.

Each morning we had breakfast in the hotel. It was very tasty and we enjoyed it as well. We used the services at the rental hut nearby for snorkel gear. This hotel was perfect for us and we had an amazing time! We would definately stay here again.

We stayed at Playa Azul as part of a special event. The way the event was handled was nearly flawless and very beautiful, however I would NOT recommend anyone stay here unless they had to. The hotel was okay: nice view, very tropical, beach bar. However, the pool was freezing and not particularly clean, and there was virtually no beach. We did go snorkeling, and that proved enjoyable but nothing spectacular. The hotel is far from the center of town, and the ferry required to get to Cozumel from PDC was a horrendous ride both ways due to choppy water. The rooms themselves were standard, not particularly clean, and spotty with the hot water. I definitely felt like I had to wear flip flops everywhere. However, what I was most disappointed in was the service. When I asked the front desk for extra beach towels, I was told the agent had to speak to the manager--for two extra towels! And when we went to check out, the agent informed me that I had to wait until 7am when the letter we received in our room said we could check out at 6 am. The checkout process took a good 20 minutes, and we were left with an overcomplicated, confusing guest folio and an additional charge at the bottom for a Red Cross donation, which we never consented to (Okay, we're not that miserable--we agreed to leave the charge on there, but I was mad that we were never asked or told about it.). Never, ever again would we stay there. We would have spent more time in Cancun or PDC if we could have.

We loved our recent 4 night stay at the Playa Azul. Our room looked out over the beach and we woke every morning to a glorious sunrise. The room was very comfortable with 2 queen beds. The shower is enormous and there was always plenty of hot water. Our only complaint was it was impossible to get hot coffee at breakfast but the rest of the breakfast was good. Fruit, cereals, eggs, breads etc
What we especially liked about this hotel is that it is not all inclusive and so is quiet and peaceful. There is no loud music by the pool. Just the sound of the sea.
The best thing for us about this hotel was the dive centre, Pro dive. We went on a snorkelling and diving trip with them to the reefs. It was amazing. We went on a small boat with only a few people so had the guides all to ourselves. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who likes a peaceful laid back holiday.

I had my beach wedding at this hotel during sunset and it was perfect ! We stayed at the Oceanfront master suite and it is definitely worth every penny that we spent. The view was amazing. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and was able to accomodate all of our needs. The water off the hotel is perfect for snorkelling and the sunset is beautiful !
