We just returned last night from a four-day stay at the Coral Princess. The grounds were always clean--the staff worked hard to keep trash, sand, dirty dishes, etc. picked up. There was always someone sweeping or cleaning something.
We lucked out and got an eighth floor ocean-side room. Yes, the rooms are small, but how much time do you want to spend there, anyway? The king bed was very comfortable, the shower was huge. the balcony little-bitty. Due to conservation measures, sheets and towels will not be changed daily unless you request it. We had no problem with insects in our room, as one reviewer stated in a review (maybe it was the time of the year?)
Breakfast was included with our package, and we usually upgraded what we ordered. The service was impecable (sp?) and the food was excellent.
The snorkeling was not the best I have experienced in Cozumel, but again, that may have been due to the weather. It was very windy on Saturday, and cool and dreary on Sunday. Yesterday morning, the tide must have been carrying krill or plankton because the fish were abundant when we were doing one last snorkel. We saw many different kinds of fish, and yes, there were jellyfish, too. Yes, we got stung, but it wasn't a debilitating thing--just uncomfortable. You do your best to watch out, but sometimes, you will get stung.
We did rent a car at the airport so that we could go into town to eat, shop, and drive around the island. There is a rental agency at the hotel with the same prices as the airport.
Over all, we would stay here again. Hope this helps anyone that is thinking of staying at the Coral Princess.
