We first arrived at the Coral Princess at 9:45am, Friday Aug 13th for a 3 night stay. After being informed that an ocean view room was not available until the next day, I requested an upgrade and received a fifth floor ocean view room with a kitchen and adjoining living room. The view from our balcony was incredible. Even for $51 extra per night, the larger room was worth it.

The beach is an oversized sand castle but suficient. When you enter the watter, be aware of how fast the current is running because it can be a bit of work to snorkel back to the hotel. There was coral along the hotel with a fare amount of fish that can be seen.
By far better than any snorkling around the Allegro resort.

We only had one evening meal at the hotel. Hotel food is generally very poor and I would give this kitchen an obove average rating. The grouper was half way decient. Breakfest was okay but my preference is going to Ernesto's Fajita Factory for pancakes or omlits.

The staff was generally happy to serve. They appreciated our tips but the staff at the Allegro last November I found to be excited each time we tipped for service. Allegro's staff I found to be top notch.

About a 20 minute walk to downtown. $3.50 cab drive. I would recommend this hotel. It is very affordable and yes, the drinks are a bit pricey but you know this going in. If you like incredable views of the ocean with great snorkling, don't mind being located on a man made beach, and are close to the city, this is a great choice.

The Coral Princess is a nice, clean, family-friendly resort north of San Miguel. We booked the suite which included 2 bedrooms and a kitchen/living area which was roomy and had a fabulous view of the ocean. It also had a nice pool, poolside bar and man-made beach area for sunbathing, etc. which was kept extremely clean. There were a few negatives, however. When we arrived at approx. 3:30pm we were told that our room was not ready. I knew this was baloney, it is apparently a widespread practice in Coz and if you give in to them and give them some $$ you will suddenly find that your room is indeed available. We did not do this however, we patiently waited for about 45 min and then we got our room. That is, we got one of our 2 adjoining rooms. The other was "not ready" either until a couple of hours later. They also really want you to come to a breakfast so they can try to sell you a timeshare. We did not do that either, so they weren't too happy with us. We came to Coz to go diving, which we did for 5 days, we had a fabulous time with our dive operator, Jeremy of Living Underwater...but since the C.P. is north of town and has no boat pier, we had to take a taxi each a.m. to the Plaza Las Glorias to be picked up by the dive boat. Definitely not too convenient, taking a taxi back and forth every day (not to mention the cost). Another thing about the hotel, the restaurant downstairs is fine for breakfast (we had free continental breakfast included with our room which was fresh fruit, coffee, and delicious danish pastries)--but don't go there for lunch or dinner if you want really good food. The seafood was about the only thing that we found to be good there...the rest was pretty mediocre or downright poor. DO order the coconut ice cream (yummy) but DO NOT be crazy and order the Crepes Suzettes (what was I thinking ordering crepes in Mexico? They were awful!) Overall, the Coral Princess is a pretty good place. We were satisfied with our accomodations and the cleanliness and service. I personally thought the little wall right off the steps out back was fantastic for snorkeling. Next time we go I would prefer to be closer to town and the dive sites which are mainly south of town.

We just came back from a week in Cozumel and enjoyed the Coral Princess. The standard hotel rooms were roomy and the ocean view room had a gorgeous view, plus a refrigerator, which was nice.

PROS: Very nice staff, spotless hotel & grounds, and wonderful snorkeling right at the hotel. Excellent onsite dive shop (Pepe Scuba) with great instructors and divemasters, plus a boat that comes right to the hotel pier to take you diving. Happy hour with 2-for-1 drinks by the pool is a great deal & we enjoyed meeting all the other guests out there.

CONS: the onsite restaurant was OK for breakfast & lunch, but not really great for dinner. Service seemed really slow at all meals. We did want to try the hotel food on "grill night", but they never had the grill going on the days it was advertised (tu/Th/Sat) The maid service was inconsistent - some days lighting fast but one day they were in one of our rooms for 2.5 hours. (A plus - some of the maids "decorated" the beds with pretty paper flowers and other nice touches.) Beds were definitely hard as rocks and the worst problem was that a few days into the trip, both rooms ended up with fleas in the beds, which made the rest of the stay pretty miserable. We think they came in on the bedspreads, but had a difficult time getting this point across to the maids and the front desk. They brought one new bedspread but by then the fleas ("pulgas") were in the whole bed.

If it weren't for the fleas, we would definitely go back to the Coral Princess, because the location, price/value is great. But our family decided that if we go back to Cozumel, we will save up our money and try our luck at El Presidente, which seems to be a much nicer hotel (but for a higher price, too).

Other tips for Cozumel:
1. With 5 people, we rented a car from Avis when we arrived at the airport, and felt it saved a great deal over taxis. We went all over the island & explored the town. Traffic with all the scooters can get frustrating, though, and don't rent a car if you like to drink a lot.

2. Visit the grocery stores - we preferred San Francisco to Chedraui, but the deals were great at both. We bought big jugs of bottled water for less than $2 and refilled our smaller water bottles that cost $1 apiece. We also ended up getting breakfast/lunch/snack food there which saved time & money over the hotel restaurant.

3. For restaurants, try La Mission and/or Casa Mission (it has a beautiful garden and lions!)

4. Skip Chankanaab. From years ago, I remember that the reefs were beautiful, but now they are prettier at the hotel than this paid-admission park.

5. Go see San Gervasio ruins with bug spray on!

6. Go diving with Pepe Scuba at the hotel!

this is the best hotel i've ever stayed. it was breathtaking and absolutly amazing. the outdoor bar was great, the dining was awesome, and the service was the best. where else can you dive off the patio into the ocean and scuba dive for free? it is minutes away from the ferry dock and the views are awesome. the rooms are spacious and the showers are great. this place was so great, if i didn't know i was in mexico, i would have trusted the water!

The Coral Princess Hotel was very clean and great service. It has a fantastic patio restraunt with pool and swim up bar and a sandy area to sunbathe. The best scuba diving was right there in the back courtyard! We rented a volkswagon convertible and toured the island. The hotel can help you plan any activity, from horseback riding on the beach to a day in Cancun.
