I stayed at the Coral Princess the week of November 10th, this was my 6th stay at the Coral Princess this year.
Since my last review back in March some things have gotten better, unfortunately a few significant problems remain.
The Good:
The Coral Princess continues to be a nice boutique style hotel located on beautiful water with friendly staff. Pepe's Scuba, the on site dive operator is excellent. The hotel is very clean inside and out, and the maid service is great. The food is good, and prices are reasonable. The hotel is now entirely non-smoking inside, rooms too.
The Bad:
-The Coral Princess hot tub has only been hot 1 out 6 stays. The staff will tell you it's broken, but that is a flat out lie. If you talk to the right person at the front desk it's magically fixed for that day only. I expect the hot tub to be heated throughout my stay.
-The swim-up bar has been closed since July, it would pay for itself in a couple hours, people are very eager enjoy it.
-The pools have been cold lately, usually one is warm.
-Last stay a hotel waiter/bartender asked me for money to help his family.
-Only one elevator is operating clearly to save money, but the hotel is starting to get busy again.
-There is not enough room in the double bed room to open the closet doors without moving one bed.
I had a reservation at the Coral Princess for December that I cancelled due to some of these recurring issues, specifically the cold hot tub, and closed swim-up bar. It's time to give my business to another hotel in Cozumel as I am sick of asking the front desk to heat the hot tub, just to hear it's broken stay after stay.
