i was on vacation trip from august 12th to 17th 2007 in cozumel and i stay in the Hotel Cozumel & Resort, i got to say that everything was just ok, good enuff, but they have a big problem with guests attention i got to stay calm when the chef say " i can not give you bacon for your eggs because is just for the omelettes"
Wednesday 15th afternoon, i cameback from a day trip in punta sur and i did not see my phone in the same place, i did not worry because i think that maybe is in the floor or something, but im sure that idid leave it next to tv because the signal sucks in the most of the places, and in punta sur there is not signal at all, then i choose to leave it there to receive the phone calls and call my customers back later.
At 7 pm im back to my room and look for my phone and i could not find it, i did call to front desk to advise that a phone is missing and inmediatly they send the security boss ( this guy dissapear and never can see him again) he gives me a report that i need to fill, i did it and i delivery to front desk guy. also mr security guy plug a stuff in to my door to download the information that show who, when open my door and how many times they open it, this door work with an electronic lock and does not use a regular key they work with a card like a credit card (nothing new)

then i feel fine and stay enjoying mi vacation trip, in the next hours i did ask to the front desk guy ( a different guy each time) about my case and the answer is:
"they are working on it"
"they are talking with the people"
and stuff like this
friday 17th i got to back to my city and i went to front desk and push them for an answer because they spend 2 days and they did not do anything. then they send me with a girl form "public relationships" she was very rude and she just give reazons to do not be responsable for my problem, for example:
"i did not see that you really have a cell phone"
"i you are sure that you leave the phone there, why did you check in your car?, you loose it"
"we pass a check point and they check thay we do not leave the hotel with others persons stuffs"
"why you did not put your cell phone in to the safe?"
" we spoke with the cleaning lady and she did not see any phone there"
" ms X day that she listen a woman(supposedly my wife)asking to a girl(supposedly mi daughter) if she carry the phone and the girl say yes"
obvious at this time i was angry and i did ask her to give me the cleaning woman and i will make her confess,,, and the "public relationship" girl was a big drama, she made 4 or 5 phone call to say "the guest is altered and she want me to leave him alone with the woman and i will not do that" oooooooo
then comes the "Front desk manager" and he say the same, "nobody see that phone, i will show you our security sistem report" (this is funny) , and he shows me a HANDWRITING NOTE (big security sistem) with the time thet my door´s open was open, got to say that the information match exactly with the times tht i say already,,, also the "public relationships girl" say that the card are unfalsifiable,
she lies,,,, i saw when another guest was in front desk because he looses his own card and the guy just take another card from a box stucked in to a machin and give him another kee in less than 1 minutee... anyway, the fact is this, i loose a cell phone and the hotel did not was responsable, they jus reject the problem and just avoid any other responsability. if you want to go to that hotel keep your low value stuff safe because nobody will be responsable for it and as they are cheap is more expensive to sue the hotel that to buy another new,,take care and if you can go to another hotel please do it.
and if you want an answer from the hotel's manager, grab a chair because the line is long:

My wife and I just returned from a four day stay at the Hotel Cozumel. In our 26 years of marriage we have been to Mexico beach resorts about 49 times. I found this hotel to be a good value. Our room was clean, cool, and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Lunch and dinner was fair but for what we paid I was not expecting a gourmet experience. We saved enough money on the hotel to eat dinner out every night, which we did. I tipped the bartender one dollar for evrey drink at the lobby and beach bars and I got premium liquor instead of the cheaper alternative
The beach club was quiet. The pool tended to be louder with most of the kids playing there. Once again, this was a good option if you want a less expensive trip. If you want a five star experience, stay at a five star hotel and be prepared to spend more money.

Hotel Cozumel Resort needs some major management guidance. Not on the beach is awful, you have to go under the road in a tunnel to get to this stretch of 20 beach chairs. The food is the same every day at every buffet and there is no sit down and order from a menu restaurant on premise. The buffet at the pool is closed on wed. and the buffet at the beach is closed on sundays. The staff cannot speak english at all and don't try to understand you, they just laugh and bring you what they want. The pool was closed two days of our four days and should have been closed more due to the alge. The entertainment staff doesn't try very hard to get you involved. This hotel would be ok not used as All Inclusive and just a place to sleep. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. The snorkeling off the small beach is pretty good especially for the unexperienced snorkeler. This review sounds really bad, but my husband and I have stayed at 9 different hotels in Mexico and have never had this bad of an experience ever.

Just got back from our second stay. My wife and I went with our 13 year old daughter. The daughter and I dive, wife doesn't. Our last stay was last October 2006. This hotel is frustrating because there's so many things at opposite ends of the spectrum that make you want/not want to go back. Good things are: Location right across the street from Dive Paradise with the underground tunnel. Staff is without question friendly and helpful. Rooms and grounds are clean, a/c works VERY well and was much appreciated in July. Location is good, you can walk to town easily, its also just one block away from a good dive shop if you need gear, two blocks from a huge "Wal Mart" type department store and shopping mall if you need anything else. Bad things are the pool - its huge and could be beautiful if it was maintained, but it was constantly dirty, had things floating in it, and the tiles on the bottom are coming up - a couple of people cut their feet pretty badly. Rooms, while clean, are old in the tooth - our bathroom needed some major work, there was a big water stain in the main room where the a/c had leaked, they'd never fixed it. Nightly entertainment was WAY lame, they need to trash that completely and put the money into the pool or the food. The "spa" is a joke, as is the "exercise room," which is outdoors, no a/c, with outdated equipment. At the middle of the spectrum would be the rates - pretty good, but we found out after returning that we could have stayed at the Cozumel Palace right down the street, which is a five star resort, all inclusive, for not significantly more, and Dive Paradise picks up from there too. Food was "OK." Not great, not bad, just OK. To be fair, though, there was plenty of it and good service at all times. A few dishes were actually extremely good - had a memorable lunch one day with pulled Mexican pork and all the trimmings. So, again, you can why we say its a 5 or 6 and "frustrating." Would we go back? Absolutely. Will we on the next trip? Probably not, we're going to try somewhere else and do some comparison shopping. But, all in all, an OK place.

We booked our 4 day stay through Dive Paradise. We got a dive package with all-inclusive accommodations, with a REQUEST for a king bed, which we got. I did not read these reviews before booking, but if i had, i would have second-thought our plans.
I'll leave some key points of feedback:
Our check-in was smooth, with no rate gouging that i read about....
The staff was generally very friendly and helpful.
The food was, at best, average - my fiancee didn't eat much due to the limited selection; i had my fill, but the "menu" got old fast.
The rooms were OK. Our AC worked, but the bed sheets always smelled of mildew.
The initial in-room bottled water, and water coolers in the halls was very appreciated and convenient.
The dive shop was conveniently across the street, with an underground walkway connecting to the hotel.
I agree with others that the pool needs proper attention.
Overall, I will stay elsewhere if i return to Cozumel.
