This was our 3rd. stay at Hotel Cozumel and definitely our best.
We were welcomed by Miguel who remembered us from our last visit. The entertainment and restaurant staff were very fun. They greeted us every morning with a smile and made sure we had everything we needed. Our rooms were very clean although the bathtubs could use some updating. Thanks to Javier, Miguel, Francisco, Estrella, Paco, Juan, and the rest of the staff for a fantastic vacation. We feel like you are all our friends and we will be back next year! ( We were a group of 16 divers and non-divers)

Just arrived home from a week at this resort.
Wonderful friendly staff.
Rooms were dirty and the hallways were dirty food trays left for a week and spills on the floor were there when we arrives and remained there when we left.
There is no al a cart at this resort.
If you order from the menu they charge you.
Only beer from the tap no bottle beer or prem drinks.
The food was not good same thing everyday just a new sauce.
Buffet had fish, pork and seafood the odd chicken but covered in sauce.
We ate at the pool side most days as it had the best selection.
Pool was large and clean most days.
The hot tub was dirty and cold.
I would rate this resort at best a 3 star.
Entertainment was ok they had shows ever night and during the day had some games.
They have free wireless internet in the lobby so bring a lap top if not you can buy internet time for 3.00 1/2 hr or 5.00 1hr.
The resort is not on the beach and there is a very small man made sand area at the water front to sit out on.
The diving was wonderful and right there with all the equipment and great dive boats.
When you change money at the hotel they will only exchange it into pescos so f you want us dollars back use the bank or shops down town.
You can walk to downtown it is only 10-15 min walk
Lots of places to shop down there, but bargain and walk back afew blocks off the main strip to get your deals.
There is a large grocery store where you can purchase food, beer and all you need it is resonable.
When taking cabs bargain before you get in so you know what you are paying.
We paid 3.00 from the resort to downtown.
If you plan to go to the main land you catch the ferry at the downtown pier and it runs eery hr cost is 10.00 us per person. the ferry takes 45 min.
We went and spent a day at Paradise Beach great beach area a taxi there is 6.00 each way.
Lots of water sports there and food and drinks available to purchase.
There is a lady who comes to the resort to sell jewlery 2x a week her prices are great and she has beautiful stuff.
The more you buy the better the price so ask friends to buy at the same time and she will bargain I think hername was Emma very nice lady and knows her gems.
Go enjoy and have fun

We stayed at Hotel Cozumel and Resort February 12-19 2006. We were greeted with friendly staff and tasty tropical drinks upon check-in. Our rooms were clean one large bottle of water was provided. Others were available for purchase. The AI food was only OK at best. There was a good selection of breads to keep me full. The AI beer was Dos Equis. All other beer was available for purchase. The poolside grill and beachside restaurant are the best. Freshly made chips and salsa are available and I think were the best thing I ate there. Pretty much any other frozen drink that is made with Bacardi or Tequila can be made. They are not as pretty as the ones you get at check in but on the other hand then you don’t feel bad for wasting them.

The beach is man-made and had some construction from hurricane Wilma but was absolute paradise. The water is so beautiful and crystal clear. It seems like a whole new world underwater. Be careful of the baracuda and little jellyfish. There are fish right off the pier that are so curious that if you reach out your hand they will come and touch you. The hotel is not right on the beach but there is an underground tunnel which is just fine. YOU try crossing the street! It also might be a good idea to bring your own snorkeling gear. I’m not sure that they are washed after each use and some of them are broken.

The hotel Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Our friends had a conjoined room and could hear them breathing. The front desk was very accommodating and changed their room right away.

Beware of the car rental down the street. Also If you are looking to take a cab somewhere do not get one from the front of the hotel They hang out there and wait for someone to come to them and they charge more. Seriously….walk down the block maybe 25-50 feet and they are all over the place for much much cheaper.

I don’t think we’ll go for the AI option next time because we feel that we missed out on the culture that Cozumel has to offer. You can also get a Corona for $1 at most bars!!!

When we arrived at the Cozumel Hotel & Resort we were greeted by very nice staff and a lovely welcoming drink. 2 seconds later the magic ended. We were standing beside a drunk woman in her bikini trying to barter with the hotel front desk for all-inclusive for the rest of the night. We asked about how much more the all inclusive rate would be and we were quoted $100.00 per night per person. 5 minutes later we were again quoted $55.00. We ended up getting it for $40.00 per person which is closer to the actual price. It seemed like nobody liked their jobs there. I found that asking for advice was useless. The staff never knew any local knowledge like when the stores open and close. The only friendly staff I found was the house keeping staff.
Our room was dirty and the air conditioning leaked. The bathtub looked as though it has never seen a good scrub.
The food was awful and the "all-inclusive" beer is only their tap beer. You had to pay for a bottle of beer.
The pool and hot tub was very dirty. We didn't even go in the hot tub because of the yellow sludge and muddy looking water. It's an adult only hot tub. The pool had garbage and debris throughout. Someone broke a glass in the kids area of the pool yet it took the staff well over an hour to go and "look" I never actually saw if they got it all cleaned up. We stayed away from that part of the pool for the rest of the trip.
We went to the restaurant for dinner on their "oriental" night. We were sat at a filthy table with food spilled all over it. It wasn't as though they hadn't cleared the table yet, this is how they set it. It was disgusting. The food was barely edible.
Morning breakfast was ok but the coffee was never fresh or hot.
We were sitting in the lobby waiting for a car rental and my son accidently spilled his coke on the floor. My daughter went to the desk to ask for help so they handed her a cloth. she did her best to clean it up but you would think that a "4 star" resort would be right on it.
We will not be going back to this hotel.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel from 1/26 - 1/30/2007.

We booked through Expedia and the transation was smooth - no issues on check in and no hidden charges.

First issue was that we were given a room 15 feet from sales desks set up in the lobby for time share sales people. After 15 minutes in the room, I went to the desk and asked for a new room. I was accommodated but only after about an hour of some wrangling.

The new room wasn't anywhere near the time share sales desks but was still very noisy.

Hotel construction is such that you can hear the guy next door snoring / flushing / whatever. This is no fault of the operators but it was probably the worst five nights of sleep I've had recently.

Something wihin the resorts control is their blaring PA system which was used to:

Play Bingo all afternoon with 5 participants, preventing the other 300 people there from even being able to carry on a conversation, take a nap or generally relax.

It was quiet, beautiful and peaceful in the early evening until 9:00 pm when HEY---It's Carribean Kareoke Night! Laying in bed, sunburned and ready for sleep and being bombarded by bad music until 10:00 is no treat. Again - probably 20 people watching the "Stage Show" while the other 300 watched the clock to see how long until 10:00.

We picked this hotel because of the beautiful grounds. We weren't dissapointed. The room was well maintained and the bed was very comfortable. The Air worked well and was quiet.

It was perfect.....except for the fact that one could not just relax in the quiet beautiful surroundings.

I was extremely disappointed at the noise and I will not go back. That's sad to say because it is truly a beautiful property.

Minor changes could make a HUGE difference in this operation.

Teodosa (sp?) was great. She tended our room and made really cool towel animals with hibiscus blossoms picked on the grounds.

It makes me sad to be writing this review.
