Very friendly staff and a memorable stay. The accomodations are 3 star. AC works great. Lots of activities and tons of enthusiasm from the staff. Food is average just as any other all-inclusive. 10 minutes walk to downtown San Miguel and 5 minutes to Chedraui grocery store. The downtown is a happening place with public dancing on Sunday evenings. For divers, the on-site Dive Paradise is the most convenient, best equipped and the best deal in town.

We have always stayed at Fiesta Americana Cozumel in the past and decided to try something closer to town. Hotel Cozumel was perfect. We got there early (noonish) and got checked right in. Had a nice clean room with an ocean view. Yes, there is a street in front but we really enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the world go by. Noise was never a factor except for a few rude early divers yelling up and down the hall a couple of mornings. We were A/I for the first time and really enjoyed the drinks at the pool. Had breakfast twice and it was good. Had lunch across the street only once and it was good. Ate all our other meals in town and they were fantastic. The staff was overly helpful and friendly. Diane at the front desk was always eager to help. Daniel at the pool bar was probably the happiest and most helpful bartenders I have ever had in Mexico. Estrella, the events coordinator was always friendly and took our rejections to participate with a smile. It's a $3 cab ride to the plaza but we walked most of the time. It's a good 3/4 mile but we enjoyed it very much. The Chedraui grocery is a short walk. The only complaints I could have is that the ice machines were always empty and dry. No biggie, Daniel always made sure my cooler was full. The pool could have been a little cleaner but im pretty picky about a pool. There is no beach other than sand and chairs at the beach club.
It is a nice area and the water off the end of the pier is about 25' deep and crystal clear. There is a ladder for easy exit. All in all we really enjoyed Hotel Cozumel and would definitley stay again. It's not 5 star but it is very clean and the people are wonderful. It also has the biggest pool on the island. Enjoy!

We were guest at Hotel Cozumel and Resort from 8/8 - 8/15/06 and could not have been more pleased. The service was exceptional - the front desk staff (including Raul, Laticia, and Alejandro) courteous and efficient, with the exception of one day we had the same housekeeper, Nelia, everyday she was wonderful - left fresh flowers in our room daily. We chose the all inclusive as we were travelling with three teenage boys - wise choice. The food was very, very good and the flexibility of their being able to go to the grill near the pool and get a sandwich, quesadillas, etc. when they wanted was great. The pasta chef and grill chefs in both the main dining room and lunch dining room were wonderful, the wait staff was exceptional including Daniel, Capt. Rafael, Manuel Antonio - when you go there ask for Daniel (Dibiz) and tell him that his Texas amigos and their grande amigo said to ask for him, he will take very good care of you.

The rooms were clean and well stocked, they were still doing a little painting and touch up but none that caused any type of inconvenience.

The pool was beautiful and extremely clean, they were out there every morning cleaning in and around it. We never saw any trash anywhere on the property - in fact it seemed there was always someone cleaning somewhere.

The activities they provided were fantastic - if you were bored there, it was your own fault. The evening entertainment was always well attended and received. Aron, the activities director is awesome. While we did not use the Kids Club, they do have one and the kids always seemed to be having a great time. We will bring our five year old next time, check with Ana Laura who is with guest services about the Kids Club and Babysitting Services, she is delightful.

They have different tour and activity representatives located in the lobby who were all very, very helpful but never were pushy or overbearing in anyway. In fact, they never approached us, only answered our questions when we asked for information. We used Dive Paradise (again) and they were fantastic. Antonio the DP rep is in the lobby of the hotel, he is the "go to" man, tell him Sarah sent you.

We did tip our waiters, bar tenders, and housekeeper generously and were well taken care of for it but I am sure not because of it. We dare say we left with many, many new friends.

We VERY HIGHLY recommend this hotel and are already planning our return trip.

  • Liked — The staff is outstanding, location great, beautiful pool.
  • Disliked — I wish they had airport transfers as part of their package.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Treat the staff, especially waiters, bartenders, and housekeeping well. Look them in the eye when you speak to them, treat them like you would want to be treated.

The staff was not friendly or welcoming. We had to wait over 1/2 hour for the two groups of two people ahead of us to get checked into their rooms before we could check into ours. Our room was terrible - it was infested with mosquitoes, had no hot water at the sink (there was hot water in the shower), and only 1 of 3 lamps had a bulb. The food was questionable at best - my fiance found a green slime on his lunch meat. We ended up finding another place to stay at the remainder of our trip. Avoid this place - it is easy to find hotels that are better!

We booked our air transportation and hotel separate. The air was through Continental(--) and the hotel through FunJet. We arrived at the airport, collected our luggage, and wouldn't you know it, we got the red light for the very first time. They must have been too busy to want to give us much of a "search" because they unzipped one bag and did a quick scan and let us go. A FunJet representative met us when we passed through the glass doors and showed us to the van that took us to the hotel. At the hotel we were greeted by the bell captain who took our bags and held them until we were assigned a room number. At check-in we were greeted with a nice cool drink from the bar. They had our room number assigned and our all inclusive wrist bands ready for us when we gave them our documents. Quick and easy. We had booked a "run of the house" room but were given an ocean view. We were in room 1115. I thought that the noise from the traffic might be a problem but we did not find that it bothered us one bit. We had emailed the hotel and requested a king, non-smoking and a mini-fridge for my husband's insulin. All the requests were noted and confirmed at check-in. They were able to fill every request and were very pleasant about it. Customer service seems to have gotten better than it has been on our previous visits. All hotel employees were very friendly and always greeted us with a smile.

The food at this hotel is NOT five star but you are not paying for five star. IMHO, we were happy with the selections and always found something that we liked. Some things we tried were not so good and others that we tried were delicious. We were able to always find something that suited our tastes. We always liked the soups and the fresh breads. The burgers at the snack bar by the pool were quite good. We loved the toasted homemade buns. You would order your burger and they would cook it while you wait so it was always fresh. Much better than the pre-cooked patties that sit under the heat lamp.

We did tip the bartenders, wait-staff as well as the maids and always had great service. Our all-inclusive package stated that tips were included but I have found that the little extra that you leave them is much appreciated and they will work even harder for you to make sure you are well taken care of.

We had a great week in Mexico and this hotel is a great bargain for the price we paid.
