We booked our air transportation and hotel separate. The air was through Continental(--) and the hotel through FunJet. We arrived at the airport, collected our luggage, and wouldn't you know it, we got the red light for the very first time. They must have been too busy to want to give us much of a "search" because they unzipped one bag and did a quick scan and let us go. A FunJet representative met us when we passed through the glass doors and showed us to the van that took us to the hotel. At the hotel we were greeted by the bell captain who took our bags and held them until we were assigned a room number. At check-in we were greeted with a nice cool drink from the bar. They had our room number assigned and our all inclusive wrist bands ready for us when we gave them our documents. Quick and easy. We had booked a "run of the house" room but were given an ocean view. We were in room 1115. I thought that the noise from the traffic might be a problem but we did not find that it bothered us one bit. We had emailed the hotel and requested a king, non-smoking and a mini-fridge for my husband's insulin. All the requests were noted and confirmed at check-in. They were able to fill every request and were very pleasant about it. Customer service seems to have gotten better than it has been on our previous visits. All hotel employees were very friendly and always greeted us with a smile.

The food at this hotel is NOT five star but you are not paying for five star. IMHO, we were happy with the selections and always found something that we liked. Some things we tried were not so good and others that we tried were delicious. We were able to always find something that suited our tastes. We always liked the soups and the fresh breads. The burgers at the snack bar by the pool were quite good. We loved the toasted homemade buns. You would order your burger and they would cook it while you wait so it was always fresh. Much better than the pre-cooked patties that sit under the heat lamp.

We did tip the bartenders, wait-staff as well as the maids and always had great service. Our all-inclusive package stated that tips were included but I have found that the little extra that you leave them is much appreciated and they will work even harder for you to make sure you are well taken care of.

We had a great week in Mexico and this hotel is a great bargain for the price we paid.

Just sent 3 days at the Cozumel Resort and found it to be extremely average, the food was terrible the staff very friendly but the hotel itself is as other posters have stated tired;
It is clean though and like I said staff is very friendly especially with organizing activities for children we were there for a regional swim-meet and they were great with the kids.
Food was the same everyday and very bland there was no creativity at all in the recipes
It was ok for a weekend event like we had but i would not recommend this to tourists in general.

Very decieving photos! not on the beach, pool was dirty, cigarette butts all over the pool area, rooms are run down. Dinner was alright however breakfast variety was limited. Not too far from downtown.

We usually go to Cancun, however since my wife and I were going with her family (3 sisters, brother-in-law and 2 kids) we decided to go to Cozumel because it was more low-key and a place where the kids could enjoy more. The Hotel (and all of Cozumel) was hit hard by the hurricane last year, and they are still trying to recover. The beach isn't back to normal and the vegetation on the island is still very mangled. In spite of the that, Cozumel still has a beautiful old world charm and sincerity about it. The Hotel was priced very well for a family and the staff was very courteous and friendly. We went during the NBA playoffs, and just for us, they aired the Dallas-Phoenix game in the bar and cheered along with us. It also wasn't very packed when we went, so we had a great time splashing around in their gigantic pool. The food wasn't the best, but there was always plenty of it. They had a lot of activities during the day including pool volleyball and basketball. We checked out their free bikes and cycled into town (which is about 5-10 minutes away) and all around north of the island. The Hotel does not really have a beach, but we got a taxi-van to take us to Paradise Beach (or Palancar Beach is another option). For about $50, the 8 eight of us piled in the van and the cabbie took us to this private beach (which was free except for food, drinks and kayak rental) and waited for us and then took us back. There is not much to do at the hotel other than relax, so definately sign up for an excursion - like the catamaran snorkeling tour - which is amazing. They have desks set up to sign up for excursions or rent cars. If you want luxury, stay farther north on the island. But if you want a low key, relaxing family vacation, this one is definately worth the value.

We really enjoyed our first visit to Cozumel, but would hesitate to stay at Hotel Coz again. The staff, other than the front desk, was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Food was ok at best, but lunch from the menu inside was the best by far! Room was clean but tired looking. Beware that there is no longer a pool by the ocean. We asked several employees (it became a joke in our group) and no one knew what we where talking about. We even showed some of them a picture of it! Anyway, the best part of our trip was Diving with Martin, walking downtown, and getting a jeep and driving around the island. We will return to dive Cozumel but would not stay at Hotel Coz unless it was a bargain.
