We stayed at this hotel over Christmas. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. When we arrived it was raining and the only room they had for us was near where they were doing hurricane repairs on the hotel. There was a pool of standing water outside the room and the room was full of mosquitos. We promptly complained and they sprayed the room, but we stayed there the first night. They moved us to a much nicer room the second night on the second floor and we were happy after that. Plenty of hot water, but some of the faucets are wonky. Cold A/C. We thought the buffets were pretty good, but didn't think much of the menu items.
The breakfast buffet is the best with omelettes to order and regional Mexican dishes and American staples. Fresh squeezed orange juice was great.

The front desk staff was very helpful. Tip: Bottled water is only provided the first day. If you purchase additional bottles in the gift shop it is $2.00 per bottle. We bought the same water at the local grocery store, a few blocks away, for 69 cents.
Tipping the waiters a dollar or two will get you really good service. I would stay at this hotel again. Also, take plenty of cash. Very few merchants and restaurants outside of this hotel accept credit cards and they really dislike American Express!

We opted for the all-inclusive and that was a big mistake. The food is truly terrible at this place. We managed to get out of the all-inclusive part after two nights. We ended up hassling in the end over the bill though. They failed to deduct the down-payment I made through onlinehotels. The rooms are decent but there were tons of mosquitos. Maybe just because of Hurricane Wilma. The pool is lovely but pretty noisy. I would not stay at this property again. There are better values in Cozumel. I will wait for the El Presidente to reopen!

I was amazed at how quickly this hotel & Cozumel have recovered after hurrican Wilma! Everything was great and the work was non stop while we were ther over thanksgiving 2005, just 3 weeks after the devastinging huricane that set on this small island for 3 days, the hard work of this island was seen everywhere. Go back to Cozumel, you will be amazed at the recovery and it will be even better than ever. Especially right now with fewer people and the beautiful water & diving. The hurrican has removed many layers of sand off of reefs and made many more swim throughs than ever before. L

A group of us stayed at Hotel Cozumel for a week (Oct 5-12th). We were greeted warmly and with little delay getting checked in!! The guest rooms are comfortable - the maid staff were wonderful. Every few days they would leave extra towels shaped like swans decorated with flower blossoms from local plants.

There was always a restuarant or snack bar open to feast upon. The staff by the pool kept us laughing. Staff joined us in volley ball in the pool and that was great. In fact, ALL the staff in the hotel went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and they created a positive atmosphere. Juan with the Restaurants kept things organized. Our bartendars were a little light on the drinks however it took very little encouragement to get stronger drinks.
They even delivered beer to us pool side while we played volleyball in the pool.

Learning Salsa and daily bingo were highlights as well. Ester and all the staff at the Pool - they were great!!!

This is the perfect hotel for Divers because you can take your gear across the road to the Pier area where lockers are provided. So after the boat dives we could rinse our gear and then place them in a secure locker until the next day. This was great because you do not have to drag all your gear back and forth to the hotel.

We loved this place so much that we are going back in March of 2006. We look forward to seeing all the staff again and we hope everyone survived Hurricane Wilma. The people who work at Hotel Cozumel are good people!!!

We stayed here for our honeymoon and just loved it. The staff was very friendly and they really try hard to keep everyone happy. I read several reviews on the staff being rude but I didn't meet one rude person working here. The bartenders were nice and always willing to make new drinks for you to try. It's a short walking distance to town or a $3 cab ride. The pool was huge and perfect and I loved the man made beach. They also have a pool on the beach to cool down in which was nice. I am a pretty picky eater but I thought the food was great. I always found something I liked and never went hungry. The breakfast bar was the best and they have a chef to make omlets and eggs however you liked. As long as you keep in mind that you are in a different country and that they just do things different then we do you will have a great time. I am glad that we spent our honeymoon here and wouldn't change a thing.
