This was our second trip to Hotel Cozumel (April 09), the hotel has made noticeable improvements over the past year. We were in a second floor room with two double beds; this was not bad we only heard the room above us a few times. I would recommend asking for a top floor room – if you do not mind the stairs, there is only one elevator for the hotel.
We did the bed and breakfast plan, and as the reviews state breakfast is very good. It always has cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit and eggs made to order. The hot bar has interesting food anything from what looks like leftovers from the night before to waffles. Great fresh pico-de-gallo.
We ate supper at the hotel buffet twice it was very good and reasonably priced, between 12-15 USD. We ran a tab most days and would check the charges prior to billing to our room, never had a false or wrong charge. There is a happy hour (for two hours) daily, usually between 4-6, the time does change so check with the servers, it is a great deal! A tip early in your stay will go a long way!
We really enjoyed our time by the pool, plenty of chairs, great service we even played volleyball for a while. The microphone was not that loud and did not take away from our relaxation – that said we did not sit by the stage/speakers
The beach side is quiet and relaxing. They doubled the beach area from last year, it extends over to Scuba Club Cozumel.
We did not dive with the house dive shop, Dive Paradise, but the staff and crews from this shop were extremely nice and helpful, even though they knew we were not diving with them.
Short walk to town. Take a walk to the yummy taco restaurants on 30 Ave – they do not open until 7PM – we always felt safe everywhere we walked. Jeeps are available for rent in the lobby for approx 80-100 USD to drive the island (a must do!).
This is a 3-star hotel but for the price and location you can’t beat it. If you need 5-star pampering Hotel Cozumel is not for you. We checked out other hotels and decided when we return we will stay here again! We do not recommend the all-inclusive unless you are going to spend most of your time at the hotel or you get it on a really good deal.
