My whole family absolutely loved El Cozumeleno Beach Resort and Hotel! This was the best place that we have ever stayed at! We had an ocean view room on the second floor, and the room was beautiful. I knew our trip was going to be wonderful when right after we entered our room for the first time, my 5 year old said "this is so beautiful." We have two young children ages 4 and 5, and they loved every minute of our vacation. The staff loved my kids and joked with them and helped them if needed, they were so great. My kids wanted to try the Kids Camp and loved it so much that they decided to spend most of their time their than with us. (The kids were happy, and it gave my husband and me some alone time to soak up the sun and enjoy the drinks and the ocean sounds) Claudia, who runs kids camp was so great, she just loved my kids and was so wonderful to them. She liked us so much, that one evening at the theme night, she let us play with her little baby. The kids made a lot of new friends at kids camp and had a great time getting to know everyone. The rooms were great, always clean and the maids accomodate any request that you have for more towels and bottled water. The breakfasts were delicious, the omelets-made-your-way were perfect, the french toast and pancakes were just as amazing. They had a great variety of food for any one. My kids who are pretty picky eaters even found food that they liked.... they loved the Zucaritas (frosted flakes) and snaked on them all day. The snack bar with hamburgers, queso, french fries... it was all delicious and available when you needed a little something to eat. They make guacamole for lunch time and it was something that I didn't miss a day of, the ice cream was something that my kids didn't miss a day of. We will miss that the most. The dinner buffets were delicious, always something new, and very fun to try different things you have never tried before. What we loved the best is that our kids like to nibble all day, and with the food so readily available, they were always able to find something when they were hungry. Some reviews said that the food got tiresome, it is great to do an all-inclusive, keep in mind that you can always go into town and eat there instead if you chose to. We did do that and tried an amazing place called Prima, it was delicious and the prices were great. I highly reccommend that restaurant, I told two other couples about eating there, they both tried it and loved it. This hotel is wonderful for families and couples. There are places to go if you want to be where it is a little quieter, and there are the places to go when you want all the action. I just know that everyone we saw there commented on my children and they enjoyed that my kids were having a great time. I absolutely reccommend El Cozumeleno, our vacation was wonderful and cannot wait for my family to go back there again.

This was our first time to the island and we had a great time. The
hotel is VERY family friendly and I would guess that 75% of the guest
were families. My husband and I took our 12 yr old and he loved it
also. Food & drinks were great, the ice is purified so you can drink
lots of Pina's! Miniture golf was every kids favorite...us big kids
too!

They were constantly raking the beach sundown to sunup getting it ready
for the guests and many little children. They have the nicest beach I
saw as I boated up and down the coast. I would recommend that you bring
your own snorkel gear or get up early to sign one out which does come
with the all-inclusive. There were fish at the hotel but not as many as
by the reefs south of the island. They had towels galore -nice-huge
ones so dont bring your own. The safe in our room was great as well as
the hair dryer. Rooms are very large and I do recommend a beach
view...it is worth it and you get a little veranda.

Here is a list of things I wish I would have brought more of....
*lots of one dollar bills for tips and general expenses. We brought travelers checks and you can only cash them at the hotel for peso's which worked fine but USD are accepted everywhere and you dont have to worry about exchanging them back from pesos.
*An extra set of warmer clothes because if the wind is coming off the sea it can get cold.
*A hat & more sunscreen...it gets hot folks. Dont let a cloudy day fool ya.

We also did trips with Lomas Travel .....VERY highly recommended and
they are right out in the lobby daily. We took a 5 hour snorkel trip
from Antonio (great guy)...great but the water does get cold and I
wished I had a dive suit. The 3 hours snorkel with Lomas travel in the
glass bottom boat was just the right amount of time. We did a combined
Xel-ha and Tulum ruins trip and that was AWSOME...Xel-ha is like a
underwater adventure park and I could have spend all week there. The
guys did the ATV and my son loved it...hubby said it was just OK.
Consider tipping the excursion leaders if you are happy with your trip
because they earn it!

I cant wait to go back to this outstanding family resort!

We booked this trip only a week ahead of time and I was so pleased how everything turned out. First of all, I requested a quiet room on the top floor and was pleasantly surprised to be shown our room at 2:00p.m.
as soon as we checked in. We were in the older section on the sixth floor. We had no neighbors above us or to the right of us. It was a quiet, spacious and clean room. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids ages 9 & 12 and there was something for everyone to do. The kids snorkeled at least twice a day, used boogie boards, sea kayaking, swimming, tide pool exploring, played miniature golf, pingpong, the list goes on. We were very pleased with the omlet to order breakfasts with an abundance of fresh fruit each morning. The lunches kept the kids fed with cheeseburgers, fries, nachos and we usually ordered from the menu instead of the beach bar. The sit down restaurant is worth the trouble of signing up for. We ate there twice and enjoyed the seafood and beef.
This resort is a great value for families since the kids stay free. I highly recommend it!
