My husband our 11y/o son amd I went to Cozumel for the first family vacation we have had in a long time. My husband and I went 9 years ago and stayed at the El Cozumeleno also. Boy they have made alot of changes. Not as quite as it once was. Mostly family and kids. Not a place for people with no children who want quite. It is noisy during the day. Lots of things for kids to do at the hotels. The best beach.
Nice to walk out of your room to the beach. They need to maintain the jacuzzi. The wter was green the whole time we were there. The whirlpool in the main swimming pool only had one jet working. The food was ok.
You can get hot dogs and hamburgers for the kids all day. They do not serve soft drinks until 8:00 am. They only have one kind of mexican beer and it is not Corona. We thought for the money it was a good deal.
Rooms were great. Bring your own beach towels they charge $50.00 if you lose one of their towels. The Goods

I went to El Cozumeleno for my honeymoon, and found it to be a great place to relax. The beach was cool and crystal clear. It never reached 90 degrees and being from Oklahoma, that was a treat. It is very humid in Cozumel, so take extra of anything that might get wet because it will take a while to dry. The food was decent, not the best but very edible. Their buffet allows for a variety of choices. There is always something going on at the hotel, but this doesn't keep you from relaxing. The rooms are large and have a big bathroom. The beds are very firm, so be ready. The A/C in the room works great plus it takes the hunidity out of the air. The staff is very friendly. They will help in anyway possible. Make sure the front desk gives you the right room, if not just tell them and the should make the correction. Overall, I found the El Cozumeleno an wonderful place to visit, and I had a winderful honeymoon.

My girlfriend and I just returned from a week's stay at El Cozumeleno.
We were completely and totally satisfied with the vacation. The beach is beautiful, though rocky. The pools are beautiful. Cozumel's weather is unbelievable!!! The water is cool, as are the breezes. I enjoyed the food, even though it wasn't gourmet. There was something different every morning and night. (Thy the chilaquiles for breakfast!) My girlfiriend and I loved the frosty drinks and the abuntant beers.
Nothing like sitting on the beach sipping a cool drink. This is a place that is really well suited for people with younger kids, as there are tons. For whatever reason, there are a ton of people from Texas. (for a Philadelphia Eagles fan, this is annoying - Especially when you hear the words "Dallas" all the time)Anyway, I digress...if you go, have a great time, El Cozumeleno is an increadible place to relax and have a great time. Make sure to see the East side of Cozumel, I guarantee that you've never seen anything like that.

I just returned from a quick 4 day trip at El Cozumeleno with three friends. I've traveled to many all-inclusives throughout the Carribean; this was my friends' first time. My friends were very impressed. We had gotten such a great rate ($420 pp including airfare), I wasn't expecting much. For the money, however, it was an excellent buy. The food certainly wasn't gourmet, but it was good enough. The room was comfortable and the grounds were nice. The bars don't serve fresh juice, so if you order a screwdriver, be prepared to have it made with orange soda! There aren't a lot of chairs on the beach, so you have to go early to get one. Most of the guests were families. The resort seemed to cater to them. I would highly recommend it for a family with young children. In summary, this resort is only a 4 star, so don't expect top-notch service, facilities, or food. For those looking for a bargain, I recommend it. If you have any questions, send me an e-mail, and I'll try to help you.

Don't forget a can of OFF for misquitos. During buffet dinning and activities such as hiking, horseback riding, or visiting local ruins you will encounter misquitos. Buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner is servered outdoors. There is one restaurant which requires a reservation for dinner. Hotel and staff are nice, bartenders make good drinks, there is only one local brand of beer served at the El Cozumeleno. Room service was prompt but the menu is limited. Take advantage of the "inclusive" amenities, minature golf, snorkeling, water polo, message, & room service. Food is ok, if you're expecting free gourmet food, you will be dissappointed. If you are looking for a great vacation to rest, relax, enjoy beautiful ocean views and sunsets, a clean room... you'll find it at the El Cozumeleno. Based on what I could see of the other resorts, it did appear the Cozumeleno had the best sand beach access.
This is not a big "party" resort, if you are looking to party all afternoon, evening, and through the night, you may spend a lot of time downtown or consider Cancun. July 2003.
