We stayed at this resort for 10 nights. It is very family oriented, loved the kids club great thanks to Mr. Russ and Mrs. Mildred and Mrs. Martha at the front desk she does great with the kids. The only issue i have with this place is the food . If you are staying more than a couple of days have other dinner arrangement's. The miniture golf was closed while we were there and so was the outside buffet. There was always something to do. We used Lomas Travel our experience with them was really bad,so i advise you to be cautious if you use them. If we ever stay in Cozmel again we will stay here. Also hello to the great folks we meet from Hot Springs, Ar.

This is a nice hotel for families. We had a garden view room which opened out to the mini golf course. A great location due to the fact we have a nine year old that played golf the whole time we were there. The room was nice and the showers are huge.

The food was just average, normal buffet fare. We didn't attend the themed dinners.

The drinks were great and we had excellent bar staff. Jose is a great guy.

Over all we enjoyed our stay and look forward to going back in June of 08.

We're just back from Cozumel. We stayed at the ''EL COZUMELENO BEACH RESORT''. It was the first time to stay at all inclusive hotel. It was fantastic. You don't need to pay for anything while you're staying. All rooms are ocean front and super clean. The hotel staffs are very kind. Their services are really great. We felt as if we were staying five star hotel. They always gave us smile and asked us we want drinks and food. It has beautiful beach in front of the hotel. You can rent snorkeling gear for free. If you try snorkeling , you can see a lot of tropical fish out there. Ofcourse there are huge swimimng pools and jacuzzi. I promise you will enjoy your staying at EL COZUMELENO BEACH HOTEL. We can't wait going back to Cozumel !!
Sea you next year, Terry and Mark at the EL COZUMELENO!

This was my third trip to Cozumel and first stay at El Coz. Both my wife and I are divers and on this trip we also took our daughter with us to get certified. Our primary goal was to stay in a hotel that had a nice dive shop in addition to some other factors. The hotel and the rooms must be clean. The food must be OK and the staff must be nice and don’t make you feel as if you are a nuisance and a pest. After going through several options and reading several reviews I picked this hotel. Below is a summary of my observation from our stay.

The hotel is on the north side of the island while most other hotels are on the south side and therefore closer to the dive sites. The location is about 4 miles from down town. This is good if you like to be isolated and could be bad if you like to be closer to town or the dive sites. Upon arrival the staff at the front desk makes you feel very welcomed. Somebody will bring you a refreshing drink while you’re registering. There is a safe in the room so during the registration you get briefed about not losing the key to the safe or else pay $100. The bell man brings the luggage to your room. The room that we stayed in was clean and passed the first test. However, my first impression was that this is not the same room that I saw a picture of (the picture shows a bigger room and different arrangement) Therefore, I called the front desk and asked if there was bigger room available and offered to pay the difference in price. At first I was told that there is no bigger room and we had one of the biggest rooms available. I mentioned the picture and the arrangements and they gave me the same answer. Don’t get me wrong the room is nice and perfect for two people, but since there were three of us in the room it was a bit cramped especially after we put a cot in it as well. Come to find out later on that there are suites available that are roomier. Even though I was willing to pay for the difference, I was flat out told that there are none. All rooms are ocean front and they are nice especially if you get one of the higher ones. The property is clean and well kept. There were probably no more than 3 dozen guests in the hotel during our stay so this was considered a slow time of the year. The food at the buffet was good. There were different themes every night and for the most part between what you could get straight from the menu or from the buffet you ended up with decent food and good choices. I was not very impressed with the only restaurant that was open during our stay. The restaurant is not he same as the open bar where you have the buffet setup and you have to make a reservation to go to the restaurant. The wait staff was great and they provided excellent service from the waiters to the bartenders to the front desk the door man and so on. Although in our package the tips were included, but a little tipping every now and then went a long way. The drinks were weak, unless you asked for top brand. Although the selection on the top brands was limited but at least you had a choice. And the tipping helped a lot to get good drinks. There are various activities available that fill up your day if you don’t dive. The bugs at night will eat you alive so remember to take a bug repellent or pay 10 bucks for small can at the hotel lobby. Also, we found out that you can ask for a can of bug spray at the front desk or from the house keeping. All in all we had a very nice experience and pleasant stay at this hotel. I would come back to this hotel had it not been for the fact that I want to be closer to the dive sites and don’t like to get a taxi to get to another hotel in order to get to the boat that would take me to the dive sites. I was told that the boats leave from this property during the busy season or when they have enough divers (7). More about my diving experience with the dive shop in another forum. The service made the whole trip worth while especially people like Francesco, the head of the wait staff, Jorge and Jose.

“Another Wonderful Stay at the El Cozumeleno”
Sept 3rd –12th

My wife and I travel to Cozumel twice a year, (September and April) and have truly found a second home at the
El Cozumeleno. First of all I would like to thank three of the managers….Mr. Lorenzo, Mr. Philippe Fournier, and Mrs. Rosa for their tireless round the clock efforts to make everyone’s stay at this resort a memorable experience…It’s great to see that they will take the time out of their busy schedule to listen to the guest compliments , as well as their concerns, so that they can stay ahead of anything that would make the guest more comfortable on their visit. I wish I had a list of “All” the employee’s names that keep this place running so smoothly so I could thank all of them personally. The service and friendliness is second to none and they really make you feel welcome. Thanks Everyone !
It seems every time I visit, there is always something new. They now have free internet and wireless internet services available in the lobby. It sure was great keeping in touch with my friends back in the states while I was there….Giving them updates of current events as well as what a great time I was having and what to expect when they arrived.
I happened to get up early one morning….which I seldom do, and couldn’t believe they had everything set up in the lobby for a great continental breakfast….Nice Touch for the early risers ! It was nice to grab a light snack with some coffee to take with me on my quiet morning stroll along the beach, or having that first cup of coffee overlooking the beautiful Mexican Caribbean….Priceless !
I thought the food was great at the buffet….In fact my wife and I gained 10 pounds while we were there, so you know we were never hungry. True there may be a few items that you may not care for, but all in all the buffet has definitely stepped up to restaurant quality and not just the same old AI food anymore. Here’s a tip. During the day you have “Four” options for your meals. You can eat from the buffet, or have some favorite foods from the snack bar, such as Hot dogs, Hamburgers, Fries, Onion rings, Nachos, ect. ect…or check out what they are cooking on the grill. Sometimes it’s the greatest fajitas you’ll ever have…or it can be the day they prepare the absolutely awesome Mahi. Now here’s the option that most people miss. Anytime during lunchtime right up until they close, there is a full menu available if nothing else suites your cravings, that will be prepared to your order. Simply check out the board at the entrance to the buffet, ask your waiter for it, or call for room service. Same thing at dinner when yet another option is added. You may choose to go to the restaurant inside, but you have to make reservations for this.
Over by the Activities Center, they have a Large game room, an ample fitness room, there’s a machine where you can purchase phone cards, baby sitting services as well as a large pool with a waterfall that is covered by a large doom so you can get out of the hot sun as well as go in and relax on those days that there is inclement weather in the area. Just around the corner is the Dive shop. Make sure you go in and say Hi….. Antonio and his staff are a great bunch of guys that will hook you up with all of your excursions. Some of the boats will pick you up right at the hotel pier. Also, Antonio is also a wealth of knowledge about the island of Cozumel and the surrounding areas. A real good person to know and will assist you with any questions you may have.
To be honest, I have stayed in other hotels around the island and visited a few that were ok, but the ElCoz has everything I’m looking for while on vacation… Friendly staff, Close to town, nice beach with great snorkeling, good food, great drinks, house keeping staff keeps the place spotless, and just a real nice place where I can relax and just let it all go… all at a price that we can afford….Thank you EL Cozumeleno for welcoming us into your home…..Be Back In April !
