This resort was completly under contruction and we had no idea. The main pool is being worked on and the outside areas are being painted. The people at Apple Vacations didnt tell us this at all, very dissapointing. As for the front desk help at Fiesta Americana, they were always very good. Actually, when we first got to our room, we found out the the bathrooms were really small. We requested different rooms and I asked them to look at the Casitas in the back, I remembered on this very site that other people said those were nice. As it turned out, we looked at them, liked them and requested that they move us back to those. The front desk had no problem with that and they moved us, we were actually very happy with that room. If your staying at Fiesta Americana, I would request those rooms, only. As for problems, we had a few big ones. The main one was the maid service, it was awful. We kept tipping every day and all they did was make the beds and give us new towels. THE MAID SERVICE NEVER CHANGED OUR SHEETS. THE ONLY WAY WE KNEW THIS WAS HAPPENING WAS WE SPILT SOME LOTION ON THE SHEETS ON THE 3RD NIGHT WE GOT THERE. WE NOTICED THAT THE SAME SPOT WAS ON THE SHEETS THE ENTIRE TIME. We even called the front desk and they sent a lady out, we saw her come to our room with new sheets, however when she came into our room, we left for dinner. When we got back we still saw the same lotion spot on the sheets. The maids had no idea that the spot was on those sheets and thats how we knew what was going on. As for the restaurant at the hotel, its a big time rip-off. The service is ok but the prices are really bad, expensive for the type of food you get, we found out the hard way that the hotel doesnt have any real deals at all, when it comes to food. The last 2 nights of our stay,we rented a Jeep. We went to Pepe's which was great in town, we also went to The Emperor of Fettucine @ The Presidente, which is right down the street, both were awsome. Both of these restaurants had great service, great prices and excellent food. As a matter of fact, both of those places were cheaper than Fiesta Americana dinners. Can you believe that?
SO, my overall evaluation of the Fiesta Americana was below average. The main reason was the place was under construction, the maid service was awful and the food prices were really bad. I would stay away from this place for now, at least until they take care of the construction work. The Presidente Hotel down the street is awesome, that's where we will be staying next time, spend the extra money its worth it. Before I forget, Acuario is also a good places to eat, if your looking for places to eat. If your looking for that perfect beach, Playa Palancar was our favorite one. That beach was truly amazing! Dont forget to see the ruins and and dont forget to take the tour to the lighthouse, you just might see a crocodile. Finally, dont forget the sun screen and the OFF !!!!
Well, I hope this evaluation will help anyone going down to Cozumel. Cozumel was lots of fun and my wife and I cant wait to go back.

Vacationed in Cozumel from 9/25/04 to 10/2/04
This was a Dive vacation and we did not expect much from the hotel.
The pool and pool bar area is under construction, Found the only bar across the street that was open worked our way through the flys (thousands of them all over the glasses, bottle, everything) asked the bartender for a drink and he told me he was out of vodka and I would have to wait two hours for the other bar to open. The only restraunt open was confusing to order in ( we were all inclusive) were there were extra charges if you wanted soup and salad. We had to ask the waiter 4 times to explain the extra charges when he finally said order anything with no charge, Still havent figured out that one.
The hotel must have planned this renovation because there was only 40 people staying at the resort.
The rooms were nice enough and comfortable.
and had everything been opened (pools, bars, restraunts) I could have been a nice place.
Once again I knew we were going to Mexico and and I have read the other reviews on this place before we went. I was not looking for much and found nothing at all at this resort.

We talked to our Apple Vacation rep and he went above and beyond to book us in another hotel that was all open and had people staying in it.
We switched to the Reef Club Dive Resort and had a great time the rest of the vacation

My husband & I stayed at the Fiesta Americana (Cozumel) Aug. 9-13, 2004. If you are considering staying here, all-inclusive is the only way to go. Otherwise, you will be charged an arm & a leg for every meal. The all-inclusive package includes all the food & drinks you want. Beware, it does not include the waters, sodas, & beer in your mini-fridge in your room. If you want to take bottled water to your room, just ask for some at the bar before you retire for the evening. You do have to wear a wristband & give your room # for every meal & drink ordered. It is not much of a hassle. The restaurant upstairs has excellent food. You need to make reservations to eat there & only dinner is served. Order the Chocolate World for dessert. Good service there, too. The other restaurants are so-so. Don't eat from the buffet but rather order off the menu. The service at the other restaurants can also be a bit lacking. I loved the palapas near the beach. The service there was good, and you can order food & drinks while lounging under the shade. The pool is OK & was a bit overcrowded. They have a swim up bar in the pool. The margaritas are pretty nasty, but the pina coladas & daiquiris are good. Overall, this is a good hotel for the money you're paying. I would not say that it is luxury by any means but good for relaxing and enjoying the sun. We were disappointed by the snorkeling right outside the hotel, but when you have been to Puerto Morelos, I guess that anything else doesn't really compare. Take a day to go shopping downtown, but don't go to the large commerical mall. It is a ripoff. The smaller shops are located all up & down the street.

We stayed at F/A Sep10 - Sep18. This was our second trip to Coz and our second stay at F/A. Our room was fine. Not exceptional but fine and always clean. We did not go AI but did get to eat at the hotel on Sep 13 (the day of Ivan) and it was not bad. They did not charge us either as we could not go to town. Yes, you have to walk across a street to get to the beach. If you cant cross a small 2 lane with no traffic you should probably stay home anyway. We have snorkeled all over Coz and some of the best is right there. Yes the rock entry can be rough but the majority of the island is that way. Buy some dive shoes for $5 at home or $10 in Coz and theres no problem. In my opinion the hotel is in great shape. I don't see how anyone could complain about that. Beautiful, well kept grounds. My only complaint would be the $6.50 drinks at the pool or beach. I had my own beer & margarittas with no problem but my wife needed the occasional fu-fu drink. We will book our next trip to Coz soon and will be returning to F/A without a doubt. Remember it is Mexico. Some things are different. If you want normalcy.......go to Hawaii. I left my e-mail adress if anyone has specific questions.

We stayed at the FA Aug. 29 thru Sept. 4 and had a great time. I read almost all the reviews for FA and the other hotels in Cozumel and was glad we chose Fiesta. This was our 8th trip to Cozumel starting in 1982 and usually stay at Presidente or the north hotel zone. Love the Presidente but now have two children in college and the FA was a lot less money. We had a great room on the 6th floor with a beautiful view and everyday we went over to the beach and snorkeled, relaxed and had good frozen drinks and cold beer. Lunches were good on the beach, great grilled chicken sandwich. We rented a jeep at the hotel for 4 days and drove around the island everyday. Beautiful view at Coconuts!!! The staff at FA were very friendly and helpful. We never ate dinner at the hotel...tried to one night at the Miramar but the greeting staff were not very receptive and we decided to leave and eat in town at Prima's for the second time...very good. We loved Casa Mission..great lobster and beautiful place with beautiful grounds and a very gracious lady that owns the place. We didn't do the all inclusive at FA and drinks were a little pricey 6.50 for frozen drinks and 3.50 for beer. We went to the grocery store in town and bought beer for 4.50 a six pack and bought water bottles .45 each and iced them down in our room. We didn't like all the cruise ships being in town but at the hotel it was not crowded and very peaceful. We would stay there again and can't wait to go back.
