“Vacation for Two”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

My husband and I stayed at the Fiesta Americana during spring break (March, 2015). We had a great stay. The staff is super friendly (good English) and made us feel welcome. I was disappointed in that I paid more for an ocean front room and was given a room with an obstructed view (second floor-- watched men roofing a building all day). The food was good. We ate at the Italian, Mexican, outdoor buffet, and grill and enjoyed them all. The Italian was our favorite. We didn't really have anything we didn't like. The meat is different-- chicken tends to be overcooked. The desserts are good but not sweet like American desserts. One thing to note is this is not a beachfront hotel. You right next to the water and the facility has done a good job creating places to lay out in the sun but it's not a beach to walk along. However, with that being said, it had two really good perks 1) the snorkeling was fabulous right at the hotel and 2) this side of the island did not have strong currents as on the coconut side nor did it have the terrible seaweed that we saw on the mainland and also on the other side of the island. The resort was also very quiet during spring break. There were no college students here; it was more about couples and families. We did spend a lot of money on outside excursions right at the hotel (parasailing, snorkeling, and a jeep trip). There is a guy inside the hotel that will arrange everything for you and make sure you get to the right place. I would recommend the extra snorkeling trip that goes to three different areas and also the full day jeep excursion (you see crocodiles, the Mayan ruins, the tequila factory (don't get sucked into the spill here-- way expensive), and also get to snorkel in a different location, with different types of fish. I would recommend you take an underwater camera with you. Everything else is provided (all equipment). The room was okay-- typical beach room. It was clean and roomy. It did have a seaweed smell which we think was the water.... I would recommend taking your own 50 plus sunscreen. No matter how tan you are-- you will burn. The sun is hot. There were so many people that were in so much pain-- it happens in a very short period of time even when it is raining. Also, you do get all the drinks you want. The wine in the restaurants was fair but the drinks at the resort were just okay-- weaker than usual. There is also a coffee/ice cream shop, one pool and one ping pong table. Overall, we had a great time and would certainly go back. We would just make sure we actually could see the ocean!
On another side note, we rented a car but did not need it. Don't get sucked into the time share crap at the airport. This hotel does not provide transportation. Take a taxi for $11.00-- you are not far from the airport. The mainland doesn't really offer much other than what you can find in Cozumel. The ferry is a 30 minute ride so you may consider taking a 1/2 day but check the return times or you might get stuck.

Room Tip: Higher floors seem better- check your view and move if you can't see the ocean.

Began our stay in Cozumel with a friendly taxi driver, ("crazy mexican drivers" he called the other drivers on the road), who gave suggestions of places to eat and shop in San Miguel as we headed to Fiesta Americana. We arrived to enthusiastic holas and were served tropical juice as we waited to check in. The contemporary decor throughout the resort is lovely. Being escorted to our room while also carrying our bags for us was much appreciated after a long travel day. Our master suite on the 6th floor was impressive with two clean rooms, two bathrooms, and a balcony with a beautiful view of the water, beach, and pool.

Our first dinner at the resort was at the Mexican restaurant. The next night we went to the Italian place. The third night we went to the buffet and watched a Mayan dinner show as we ate. The last night we went to the Thai restaurant. Be prepared to order all your courses at once at the restaurants, although the waiters bring each course out one at a time. The food was plentiful and good, and we ordered wine with each meal.

We spent time at the pool and enjoyed the entertaining games and music. Make sure you go to the swim-up bar for refreshments. We also went down to the beach and sat near the water on comfy beach lounge chairs. The staff came by frequently and brought us food and drinks. Don't miss the fish tacos; they are delicious. The days were busier at the resort with more guests around, although we never had to hunt for lounge chairs or wait for a table as there are plenty of both. The evenings were quiet with most of the activity being at the lobby bar. Take time each day to walk to the pier to watch the sunset. Overall, you will love this place!

Room Tip: Use the stairs when getting to your room as the elevator is small and slow. Higher rooms have a grea...

We were very happy with our room - very spacious and clean. Also, the variety of food and drinks was great. We loved the lattes from the coffee bar and the seafood bar on the beach was awesome. We also really liked the beach beds that were over the ocean - very unique!

We were disappointed there wasn't a beach volleyball court. Water volleyball wasn't even close to the same - still had fun with it though. My suggestion would be to build a court in front on the seafood bar (move some if the day beds there to in front if the burger shack) OR build it on the beach just south of the small pool, in front of the bicycle storage OR build it on the grassy area south of the main pool and change the wall along the pool so that you have good sight lines of the court from the big pool.

We like to dive and used the Dive House. It will be more convienent to book dives when their shop is back on location. We rented a scooter and booked it in town and they picked us up from the pier at the resort.

We also like to use the spa and were disappointed that it was still under construction with little services to be offered at this point. I'm sure it will be nice when it's completed.

Another disappointment, was the lack of entertainment in the evening. We often went for dinner later in the evening and missed the 8pm entertainment every time. After that was over, there was nothing left to do at the resort except drink in the lobby bar. My suggestion is to either lengthen the entertainment from 8-10pm or postpone it until 9pm. Also, a disco and DJ in the evenings starting around 9pm would be nice - the resort could easily utilize the bar and space down by the beach buffet.

Overall, we had a very nice time at this resort but will probably not stay here again unless with a group of friends.

My 19 year old son and I stayed at Fiesta Americana Cozumel from March 19 through the 24th. Our main object in traveling to Cozumel was the fantastic scuba diving. However we found the accommodations, food and personal hospitality to be outstanding. The property had been renovated last year and was beautifully done. The restaurants were welcoming and stylish with food that was excellent for the all inclusive format. We tried all of them and we were never disappointed.

The property is very family friendly but also seems to accommodate romantic and/partying couples. If you're looking for an adults only environment this is not it.

The rooms are all new and very clean. Ours had a private pool which was a very nice touch. Especially coming in from diving everyday without a rinse or dunk station at the pier on property.

For divers, all dive operators will pick up and drop off at the Fiesta Americana pier. Most sites are within a half hour by boat. Many closer. The main breakfast restaurant is immediately behind the pier so you can finish your coffee while waiting to get picked up. When you get back lunch is waiting there as well. The sea wall to the north of the property has a variety of small sea life living in and around it and makes for a very interesting snorkel for younger kids. It's like a kiddie reef.

You can shore dive off the pier but the current and boat traffic make that iffy

You can actually snorkel to the Money bar which does have a sea stair and showers. Beware of the $14 nachos however.
The food is as good or better at Fiesta Americana and you don't need to carry money.

Only criticisms of Fiesta Americana are minor. The Internet connection was great when it connected but I had trouble with that. The mixed drinks are pretty weak so I stuck to beer which was fine and always stocked in the mini bar in the room.

Other then that this is a really nice property and a nice value. I personally do not think one needs to spend the extra money for the Presidente.

Room Tip: Private pools on first floor but a little noisey

We noticed that the fiesta is an ideal place for lots of different vacation seekers. We like to be active and adventurous as well as relax and sip piña coladas. We didn't seek much of a night life but it was there or nearby if you wanted. We don't have kids but seemed like lots of families with plenty of activities for them. Also a great place to be picked up by the dive operators. There's no beach which I believe keeps the actual waterfront part of the resort quiet and tranquil. The pool which we didn't use was stunning. We opted to grab a waterfront bed (lots of seating) on most days and snorkeled right out front. Such an amazing experience because you can really take your time to find new sea life every day! Eels, starfish, sand rays, tons of fish, coral and great vegetation. You can also snorkel north at money bar or take a bike south to playa corona. All great.

We found the dining to be excellent. Every place. Exceptional standouts for us were the fish tacos, the kombu sushi rolls at the Japanese restaurant, the cocinita pibil at the Mexican restarant and the chef cooking our fresh catch that day at the italian restaurant. That was so special to us and many thanks!

The room was absolutely perfect. Nice bed, clean, great hot shower and a balcony with hammock. Even on the second floor we had an ocean view.

The people were friendly, helpful and fantastic. We hate seeing when Americans are disrespectful or rude. Everyone down to our taxi driver spoke English, accommodated us and made us smile. Even strangers had a laugh and helped when we accidentally rode our hotel bikes too far (21 kilomoters) to get back to the hotel before dark.

Our complaints pale in comparison to our good things to say--- but the purified water truck was loud so hopefully they can do something about that and a guy who's not affiliated with the hotel--- the travel agent Adrian was not pleasant but perhaps he was having a bad day.

Easy, friendly, beautiful and amazing. You won't be disappointed.

This resort by far was my favorite place I have been. They treat you very well, you don't have to get off you beach chair as they bring you whatever you want (food, drinks). The island is suck a friendly place.

We rented a car and toured around the island a couple times, and even stopped off in town to do some shopping.

We had the master suite, it was great. Two rooms two washrooms two showers beer in the fridge room service. What more could you ask for.

If there is something you want at the buffet and don't see it, just ask and they will try their best and make it for you.

Definitely going back here next February :) 5 stars.

Just returned from a 6 day stay at the Fiesta Americana Cozumel All Inclusive with my two daughters ages 24, 21. We loved it! Everything that most of the reviewers have mentioned held true. The service was outstanding and we enjoyed the food.

I just want to add some details that weren't included in the reviews I read which are not deal breakers but maybe folks might want to know:
-they do have a wrist bracelet policy
-you have to sign out for beach towels daily
-the lobby bar is available past 11 pm, I think until 1am
-there are no big entertainment shows; however, we enjoyed the Prehispanic Show at the beach around 8pm, the Mexican Show was scheduled the day we left
-there are computers across from the Peninsula/Asian Restaurant that you can use to check email, etc.

Lastly, we booked the Jeep Tour Adventure through Fantasy Travel Experts which was a lot for your buck. My oldest daughter drove the jeep all around the island (set up as a convoy). We stopped at the Natural Reserve of Punta Sur and the lighthouse. We climbed all 103 steps to the top. We were rewarded with a breath-taking view. There was snorkeling with the group, and a tour of how Tequila is produced followed by our favorite part, Tequila tasting. We also visited a "Mayan Village" to learn how chocolate and tortillas are made. We learned lots of history of the Mayan culture. We stopped to eat lunch, very tasty which was also included in this tour. I have to mention that we had two fabulous tour guides, Carlos and Dario who made our adventure super fantastic. I would highly recommend this tour.

I loved Cozumel and this resort, wish we could go back next week for another stay.
