“Fiesta on the Rise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Back to Fiesta after 5-year break (Occidental Grand is getting little tired)
The Hotel has been totally renovated and is in outstanding condition. The vibe is more chic now, modern colors and design. The food (always very good) was excellent. I highly recommend the larger room choice....it's actually two of the old rooms joined to form a suite (two full bath). Incredible value actually. I'll get that room again when the kids join us this summer....yes...going back to Fiesta A.S.A.P.

Room Tip: Get the larger room, very worth the price

This hotel had many new features. There are 3 restaurants, ie Italian, Mexican, and Asian. The Asian restaurant was very nice, it featured many different types of rolls and good fish features. The Italian restaurant had nice fish features too. Mexican restaurant was good but not my favorite. For breakfast and lunch there is a buffett open on the beach which is across the street. The food is vast and varied. There is two quick snack places open around noon. The beach is not large but there are plenty of chairs to lounge in along with over the water beds. You will get splashed on those but it is fun to lay out and feed fish. The staff is very nice and helpful . The rooms are very nice there is a beautiful rainfall shower and separate sink areas. This is a smaller hotel but very nice and clean with a urban chic feel to it.

We stayed at Fiestamericana for 3 years starting 6 years ago then tried Cozumel Palace but preferred the more southern location. During renovation last year we stayed at Presidente. Booked this 10 night trip last fall and was excited to check out the new improvements.

WOW! We were not disappointed!! From the minute we arrived the staff went above and beyond to be warm and friendly and catered to our every need. The hotel did a beautiful job bringing it up to date. The rooms are great. Updated everything including the great rainfall shower heads! The beds are really comfortable. The best improvement is the beachside area. AMAZING beds over the ocean!

The food - let's talk about the food. I am not one that likes all inclusive food. I like the idea of all inclusive when traveling with our children as it is just easier. We usually just eat at the hotel for breakfast and lunch then go into town for dinner. We ate at the hotel 5 out of the 10 nights. The improvement in the quality, variety and flavor were terrific. The ceviche bar made great ceviche but we quickly became addicted to the fish tacos. The buffet restaurant had fresh fruits, vegetables and plenty of options. We tried each of the specialty restaurants and enjoyed each meal. Most importantly we have a daughter who has celiac disease and Marcial the headwaiter went above and beyond to make sure her food was prepared safely and even introduced us to the head chef who insured that her food would be prepared with great care. Edwardo the food and beverage manager even approached us at the pool one day to make sure we were happy with the accommodations made for our daughter.

The staff - what can I say about this staff. From the moment you arrive with the gentleman who brought up our luggage to the concierge, the front desk staff, the activities staff, the cleaning staff and the food and beverage staff. Special shout out to Carlos - our favorite waiter at the beachside restaurant greeted us each day with a laugh and such great service. It was fun to see some of the familiar faces from prior to the renovation and my kids smiled when someone remembered them from years past.

Fiestamericana did a beautiful job with the renovation and should be very proud but most importantly they should be proud of the staff that represents them. For it is the staff who makes an experience and for that - we will return next year and recommend Fiestamericana to friends and family.

Just one last comment to "trouble in paradise" news flash - you went to Mexico, they speak Spanish there. Get off of your high horse and when visiting another country be respectful and learn their language. That said most of the staff speaks English beautifully. I was actually disappointed when on our first morning I was greeted by everyone with "good morning" when I mentioned this to Marcial the head waiter - I was greeted with "Buenos Dias" every morning after that by everyone. Thank you Marcial!!

nos vemos el próximo año!!!

Room Tip: 4th floor or above have the best views.

We had stayed at the Fiesta years ago and found it average at the time. Completed a 9 day stay February 20th, 2014 and our stay was fantastic. The resort has gone through a major renovation. The people that work all areas of the resort are young and very friendly. The food. Oh, the food was out of this world!!! I think you would be hard pressed to find better food at any resort in Cozumel at any price range. I can't say enough about the food and that is saying something for an all-inclusive. The friendly people, great food and renovated accommodations make the Fiesta my new choice for a Cozumel all-inclusive. Great job to all of you hard working individuals. We will return again.

I don't know who this snobby lady is but we are here now and have had the opposite experience as her. First of all - this is Mexico! They speak Spanish here! Do her hotels in New York speak Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, and greek? - oh my, what are these tourists to do? I suppose if she were to visit France she would expect them to cater to her stuck up east coast needs - ridiculous. Second - liability if she should get bitten by a mosquito - really? She must be saying if I visit New York and get mugged the hotel will reimburse me for our loss, pay for the hospital bill and send me to a day spa the next day - wow, that is awesome! Third, there is virtually no traffic on the road that you have to cross to get to the beach - so really not a problem for anyone, even the elderly who were out as well. Fourth, simply closing your balcony door(we were right over the pool) was enough to drown out any noise from that area. And on and on.
For the money, this place can hardly be beat. The food is awesome - the Mexican Restaurant was our favorite. Everything was fresh and was prepared with care and detail. Room is clean and nice. Plenty of space to accommodate all of the guests.
The only negative I can say is it has been a little difficult to book a fishing excursion at the price that was quoted upon arrival. Plan on coming again with friends/family.

We returned from a 5 night stay at The Explorian yesterday. We were originally booked at Fiesta Americana, and upon arrival were told that we were being upgraded to The Explorian. Not really sure if that was true, or if Americana had been overbooked, but it certainly worked out to our advantage. As others have stated, the properties have been recently renovated, and there is a small amount of work still going on. We didn't find any of that work to be disruptive, nor did it affect our stay. The rooms at The Explorian were very nice, and very clean. The bed was great. We enjoyed the 2 person rain shower. It was a nice treat to wake up each morning and find the basket at our door containing coffee, juice and sweet bread. The atmosphere at The Explorian is very quiet and "spa-like," which we thoroughly enjoyed. The pool was great, and very relaxing. I had a massage one day, and it was one of the best I've ever had. The restaurant was wonderful. We had dinner there 3 nights, and each time it was fantastic. There is an open, "serve yourself" bar near the pool. It was just a few steps over to Americana where we had access to their 3 restaurants, larger pool and larger bar. The beach area is across the street, but that's not uncommon in Cozumel, and only about a 30 yard walk. The food at the buffet on the beach was great. We enjoyed our breakfast with a view of the ocean each morning. The staff at both properties was always eager to please, and helpful in any way that they could be. I have absolutely no complaints at all, and only a couple of small suggestions. It would have been nice to have some type of a welcome packet or hotel brochure showing the layout and describing the various amenities available with restaurant/bar/pool open and close times. A schedule for the daily excursions at The Explorian would have been beneficial. The open, "serve-yourself" bar at The Explorian was great unless you wanted some type of a mixed drink and weren't sure how to make it your self. A simple solution to that would be to install the drink dispensing machines like they have for juice, milk, etc. at the buffet. Maybe fill one side with margaritas and the other with pina coladas, which seem to be the 2 most common requests. If the machines aren't an option, maybe just a couple of the large jugs of premixed drinks like they were using in the bars that could be stored in the cooler there and refilled when needed. Overall, a very pleasant stay, and I would definitely return.

Room Tip: There are no elevators at The Explorian. It's only 2 floors, but if steps are a problem for you...

Have stayed at FA Cozumel several times since 1996. Love its location south of San Miguel, away from cruise ship hustle and bustle, and a $10 taxi ride to town when you want to eat out, shop, etc. Dramatically remodeled in 2013 and 2014. Now all inclusive, Asian inspired design, lots going on all the time.

When you first arrive, you are greeted by a special assistant who can help you with your questions and will try to sell you a vacation club membership. Not overly pushy about it, and we did not listen to the sales pitch. They will also talk to you about Explorean, a sister development behind the hotel, which includes excursions as part of the cost of your room. Our assistant was helpful in getting us into a different room (see below).

Pros: Service is excellent. Food available in Asian, Italian, Mexican and buffet restaurants is good. Also have burger shack and ceviche shack open during the day near the ocean. Area on ocean side of road is much improved - lots of chairs available, better access to ocean to swim or snorkel (is also the quietest area of the complex). Interior of rooms are nicely done. Lots of tile and granite everywhere. Wi-Fi is good throughout hotel, including rooms.

Cons: Because of the new design, the "lobby" is actually the entrance from the road, which is also the main bar area. It is open on all sides but one. It is also the area where nightly entertainment takes place, and since the area is open and all rooms face the ocean, the disco music or other entertainment is noisy across the entire complex until around 10 PM. During the day, they now think they need to entertain you by the pool all day, so you get to listen to bingo, various games, etc., again not only in that area but throughout the room area from about 10 AM until around 4 or 5 PM. The Lobby/Bar area's roof juts out from the front of the hotel, so it blocks the views north or south for rooms 3rd floor or below. The first floor is actually below road level, and those rooms are sold on the basis of having a private pool (the pools are semi-private, being shared with 2 other rooms). On the south side of the hotel, the views from these rooms was of a lawn and a bathroom entrance and the pools did not work while we were there (we were booked into one of these rooms and after 2 days of the "private" pool being empty and the thermostat not working, they moved us up to a very nice 5th floor suite). On the north side, the views from these rooms are of a garden area they are trying to get established and the back side of the spa and exercise room. Bottom line, book 4th floor or above to have best ocean views, although you will still be looking down on top of the lobby/bar roof. Asian restaurant now dominates what used to be the lobby, all glass walls, Asian shallow pool with dark steps leads to restaurant. One lady ran into the glass wall trying to leave the restaurant thinking it was an exit. (We looked at Cozumel Palace while we were in Cozumel and they also have a similar model - 3 themed restaurants, lots of hub bub by pool - must be the in thing.)

So - if you want loud music and activities by the pool during the day and a noisy bar area during the evening, this is the place for you. If you want a quiet get-a-way, might be best to look else where. And you can always try to escape to the other side of the road by the ocean - although you can hear the pool music and activities, it is a much more relaxing area.

We love Cozumel and plan on going back, but our love affair with FA Cozumel is over so will probably look elsewhere next time.

Room Tip: Do not book "private pool" 1st floor room. You will have a poor view and in our case, the...
