My husband & I stayed 11 days during the off season (September) & found the FA to be perfect for our needs. We were lookng for a quiet, clean room near a good dive shop and thats exactly what we got. We read that the ocean views are from the higher rooms so asked to be moved & it was no problem at all. The rooms are quite nice- all marble floors & walls. Beds were firm as most are in Mexico. Water was always hot with good pressure & the a/c kept us cool. The room was very thoroughly cleaned every day, even the floors which must have been tough considering we were always dragging in sand & dripping wetsuits (the little "sweet dreams" chocolates on the pillows were a nice touch). TV worked fine when we needed it. Room service was pricey but isn't it always? The front desk was helpful & friendly. The gift shop had the little things we needed like bottled water & cigarettes-- it is not run by the hotel so you cant charge items to your room. We didnt stay all-inclusive because we wanted to enjoy the local food (great breakfast at Jeannie's Waffle House, recommend The Mission for dinner, and Panchos Backyard also). The beach area seemed a little small but we didnt spend time there anyway. We rented a bright purple vw bug and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the entire island. DIVING: the shop across the street, Dive House, was great. Nice relaxed diving, easygoing but attentive divemaster, freindly helpful staff, took us to all the best sites. Also recommend Living Underwater for advanced diving like Punta Sur-- they'll pick you up at the dock, small fast boat, personal service.

When I reviewed this website for the Fiesta American and saw all the negative reviews I was horrified. I had thought we made a terrible mistake.
Much to our delight, we found all the negative reviews were not true.
Upon check in, at 1:00 pm, I had expected to have to wait until 3:00 to check in, and to insist upon the room we booked. We were greeted with a smile, and taken to the room we had wanted; which was on the 6th floor, with a balcony and ocean view.
At no time did we find any of the staff, surly or non-accommodating.
The opposite was true. These wonderful people were always willing to go the extra mile.
The food was good. Yes, sometimes you did see the same thing from breakfast and lunch buffet. I applauded their good sense and not to waste of food. With all the poverty on the island, it was refreshing to see that they are resourceful. The Miramar restaurant was superb.
I imagine that all the negative feedback was during the busy season of Spring Break.
With that said, it stands to reason that things didn’t go as smoothly as expected and the hotel was packed. Which would explain to the lounge chairs being taken and the reservations at the Miramar already booked; and the staff run ragged by irate guests. Over all, I went to this hotel with low expectations and much to my delight soon realized that all my fears were not founded. Will I go back, absolutely? The hotel, staff, food, and over all experience was wonderful.

The Fiesta Americana Dive Resort is excellent. The lobby is gorgeous and they even have little bungalos in the back if you make prior reservations. The rooms are okay but the food was amazing, the drinks were good, the pool has a swim up bar, the beach is just across the street and the snorkeling from out front is incredible. We saw octopus and tons of fish. All in all this resort is fantastic for the money.

You get what you pay for. If you want an inexpensive all inclusive than this is the place to go. We found the food ok at best. We figured that just breakfast and drinks at the pool and bar in the evening would pay for the all inclusive and it did. We like to have cocktails so it was well worth it for us. If you don't drink booze than you should plan on eating a few meals a day there to make the all inclusive worth it. We personally did not care for the lunch or dinner at the hotel. So we went into town each night and had some great reasonably priced food! For the people who said the bartenders and servers were not friendly, try tipping them. For $5 tip a day the drink service could not have been better. We went after April 17th, being this is the start of slow season there was always a pool chair and it was never crowded. The hotel was ok. Not nearly deserving of a 5 star rating. Yes, the beds are a bit on the hard side but it was clean, every room has a balcony and an ocean view. Now I will say that there are a few style bathrooms...Our toliet was facing a wall and if you were a larger person, you would have had a difficult time standing in front of it and sitting down. We are not large people and our knees scraped the wall when we sat down. So if you are larger, try to get a room with the toliet that does not face the wall (I think those are the double bed rooms). Rent a jeep for a day (they are all stick shift). Do not rent a ATV. It is way to hot, windy and dusty for that but you'll be ok in a jeep. There is basically only one road that goes around the island and another road in the middle of the island that goes across it. Hard to get lost. There are at least 6 bars that you can stop at. Ladies bring toliet paper, rember you are in Mexico and they sometimes forget to stock that at those bars. We just bar hopped around the island one day. Of course the diving there is great, you are in Cozumel. For the inexpensive price we paid for the all inclusive it was well worth it but next time we will save up a few more bucks and stay somewhere else.

At the last minute my son and I decided to get away for his spring break week. Our travel agent found us a "deal" with Apple Vacations,so we jumped on it. The charter plane left out of Newark, NJ on time at 6am, arrived no problem at Cancun at 9am..great huh!!! Well, not so great. Apple made it seem like they would have us on a puddle jumper as soon as we cleared customs..not true. After clearing customs, we had to recheck in at the airport, and wait 2 hours for the next plane to Cozumel. After a delay on the runway, we were finally off...once in the air, the flight was only 25minutes. After arriving in Cozumel, and getting our luggage, we found our shuttle bus that would take us to the FA. Thanks to the reviews, I knew to pack my bathing suit in my carry on, so when FA told me my room wouldn't be ready till 3-4pm, I didn't care. After having a quick bite, and a quick swim to cool off, our room was ready about 3:30pm. The room was fine, standard for a 2 1/2 star hotel, exactly what I expected. I knew not to use the mini bar, and came prepared with my bottle of water from the bar downstairs. Yes the beds and pillows are hard, but it's not unbearable. Yes the food is the same day in and out, what is served for lunch is buffet dinner that night, and is then chopped up for breakfast omelets the next morning. The ala-carte restaurant is limited to 2 dinners in a week for all inclusive, and is much better than the buffet, not great, but after a couple of days of the buffet, your expectations lower, and you start saying yum to things you would never expect to say yum to. We met several couples we enjoyed spending time with..which always makes a trip fun, and the diving is just amazing. Although I stored my gear at the Dive House (the op. attached to the hotel), I opted to " dive with Martin", on a recommendation from someone in Jersey, and was very glad I did. The DM's were great, bottoms times generous, and generally a really great experience. I brought clothes for Martin's children's charity which was much appreciated. So pretty good vaca overall you say?? Well, thanks to Apple NO!!!! For one, I found out I totally overpaid. My 12 yr old son was charged full adult rate, even though he obviously doesn't eat like an adult or drink liquor. And the return home was just a nightmare. The Apple Rep was no where to be found to confirm the flight, so we had to leave without knowing if the flight was on time. There was no flights out of Cozumel, so we had to leave 5 hours before our Cancun flight to make the ferry, which was the worst experience of my life. It was a tin can of a boat, dozens of people were getting sick on it, kids screaming, and generally an hour of hell, followed by another 1/2 hour of pure chaos trying to get your luggage. My luggage by the way, was thrown from the boat to the dock, so all my souvenirs and liquor, yes, my bottles of kahlua were all broken. What a mess!!!!!!
I didn't even bother to complain...just wanted to get home at that point. After lugging my own luggage (70lbs of scuba gear) to Senior Frogs to meet the Apple Guy would take us to Cancun, we were exhausted and sick from the ferry. No Apple Rep. Waited in hot sun for over 1/2 hour. Finally he comes, and we have to drag our own luggage through the shopping center area to the parking lot. An hour ride to Cancun, he then becomes helpful and takes our stuff (thinks he wants a tip???) We check in, and only after checking our luggage and getting ticketed, the Apple Airport Rep tells us our flight is delayed at least 7 hours, and here is $15. They'll make an announcement, goodbye. 7 hours puts us at 1am the next day. I have work, my son school. Go see another Apple Rep...he tells me the Apple Rep in Cozumel should have told us to stay at the hotel. When I get mad that the Apple Rep was MIA, he only saids, "he'll look into it" Thanks for nothing.
At about 1:30am...our flight finally leaves..by the way, the big $15 didn't include alcohol, so my bar tab was $25 for 3 drinks. We finally get home at 7:30am, tired and fed up.
All in all, I would recommend FA for the location..great snorkeling right off the beach, and great diving. But I would never travel with Apple again. I would stick to a reputable major carrier.
