my wife and i stay at this hotel in january. overall- we were pretty impressed since we were able to book it through orbitz for around 60$ a night- what a great deal.

the hotel was clean, nice pool and grounds. the rooms were nice as well.

the issues were: no refrigerator (come on! we were in the carribean) so we had to buy a cooler with ice.
staff/conceierge was kind of pushy trying to sell different things- one example was when we asked about scooter rentals- we were given a number of "someone they knew" who would rent scooters for almost 20$ above what a normal rental downtown would cost. after finding that out, we just tried to find our own information out, since there is nothing worse than people trying to gouge you.
food was pretty decent, but overpriced.

  • Liked — it was cheap
  • Disliked — fake staff out to make a profit off tourists, in reality- probably dislike anyone who is not a local

Great place! We are from NH and just got back from this hotel and really enjoyed our stay.

The nicest thing about it is that you are away from town in a more secluded area. So if you like all the beautiful things about this area and want to avoid the partying and noise this is your place. The staff was very attentive when asking for anything. The food was better than expected and we choose not to do the all inclusive, giving us options to eat in town. In the end we paid much less for food mostly because we did not drink as much as other guests (we had our kid). I recommend the Mission restaurant it was wonderful. The coral reefs out in front were a pleasure to snorkel. There is Chankanaab National Park within walking distance that has the dolphin swim and great snorkeling. The taxis are $10 to get into town. I recommend renting a car for at least a day to see some of the sites and visit the other part of the island.

My wife and I arrived here April 8, 2008. Sometimes we prefer to stay at five star resort, but sometimes we just want to relax in a more laid back, casual atmosphere. This Fiesta American in Cozumel is just that place. We've stayed here four time before, and each time has been very nice. The staff is helpful, the rooms are clean, and the food is good. You can snorkel right in front of the hotel, or at many other locations close by. The busy center of town is a short $6 cab ride, but far enough away to make this hotel a quiet place. Most people we talked to seemed to enjoy their stay here. Have fun!

  • Liked — Convenient location for snorkeling
  • Disliked — Cozumel is growing too large

My wife and I just returned from our second stay at the Fiesta Americana and I'd have to say we enjoyed it even more than last year. Although I can't disagree with the few gripes that others have written (small beach; somewhat limited food choices, firm mattress, etc.) we find these quite minor in the grand scheme of things, and even less significant when viewed in context of the total all-inclusive price. In my opinion you're getting what you pay for, and then some.

Regarding the service - no problems whatsoever at check-in or check-out, very friendly hotel and wait staff, and service was always provided with a smile. Housekeeping did forget us one day but were up to take care of things within minutes of our call. We also appreciated the fresh towels and turn down service in the evenings. Both of us thought the food was excellent... only one restaurant open for lunch and for dinner, but still enough menu choices that you don't have to eat the same meal twice (although I did since the grouper was FANTASTIC).

Similar to last year we did (5) days of two-tank dives with Dive House and again were impressed by their professionalism and friendliness. And of course, the diving is fantastic.

In summary, I can't swear we'll be back in Mexico next year since I'm itching to try some other places, but I can say without a doubt that if we are in Cozumel, we'll be at the Fiest Americana.

Just got back from a 5 day stay and we really enjoyed it. The hotel is very nice, the rooms very clean, and staff very polite and helpful. This was our second trip to Cozumel. Last time we stayed at the El Presidente the next resort north of the Fiesta Americana. That was before the hurricane. This hotel was much less costly and we felt we got a better room. We were on the second floor (same level as the lobby) and had a good view. Of course with all rooms having an ocean view they are probably all good. The snorkeling right in front of the hotel was pretty good we saw quite a few fish but there was little coral left. Just north of here is the Money Bar and snorkeling from a little south of it to a ways north of it was much more rewarding. There was a lot more coral and a wider variety of fish. We ate dinner at the hotel three nights. Thanks to whomever commented about the filet being good in their review - it was - I had it twice and my wife had it once. We also ate at the Money Bar once and at Primo an Itialian place in town - both were also good. We also want to thank all the reviewers who commented on how hard the beds are - you are right! The beds are probably a little softer than the tile floors, but, not much! Thanks to the forwarning of these revieweres, we took our Thermorest sleep pads along (which we use for camping to avoid laying directly on the ground). They worked great on the bed and we slept well! We think we also picked a great time to go. Early April is really quiet - I'd guess the hotel was only 15-20% occupied - we almost had the beach and snorkeling to ourselves. When we take another trip to Cozumel we will definately stay at the Fiesta Americana Dive Resort again. Highly recommended.
