My husband and I and another couple just returned from a 9-day trip to Cozumel and a stay at the Fiesta Americana. Our check in went well and we were even able to get connecting rooms on the second floor. I had read that the first floor kind of smelled, so it worked out well. There were times that you would get a whiff of sewer, but it wasn’t that bad. Our rooms were nice and the shower had great pressure. Our rooms were always cleaned and restocked in a timely manner. The one thing in reading the reviews, and I think that a lot of people out there are just too darn picky, is that the mattresses are a bit harder than an average person has, but you get used to it and geez we were in Cozumel so it was all good!!! The room does come with a coffee maker, but beware they will charge you for the coffee - so bring your own and few filters too. Our view from the balcony was wonderful, even on the 2nd floor. The road isn’t even an issue and you will hardly even notice it. Do look both ways before crossing.
If your plan is to hang around the hotel we HIGHLY recommend the all-inclusive. Don’t expect gourmet meals, but you sure shouldn’t go hungry. You can get your money back if you drink.. Not sure of the name but try 1/2 pina colada and ½ strawberry daiquiri. YumO. The pool areas and beaches were always clean and well maintained. The swim up bar is fun feature. They have a towel service with very nice beach towels. All the staff we encountered were very nice and professional. If you are a tipper, which is a good thing, it is a good idea to bring dollar bills. We had no problem in using our American money.
We enjoyed the fact that we could just snorkel any time we wanted. It was pretty good and there were a lot of fish around the pier.
We heard that they highly recommend that you DO NOT rent scooters, but we did the last two days there and it was wonderful. They will bring the scooters to the hotel. Just know in advance what the total cost is. It shouldn’t be more that $35, plus maybe $5 for gas. We learned the hard way the first day. The hotel has secured parking. It was a great way to travel around the island to the Reggae Beach Bar, Playa Bonita, Coconuts and Mezacalitos. The ocean on that side of the island is beautiful. We only went to town once and it wasn’t that bad, you just have to be careful and watch out for the other guy.
We would recommend a walk up the street to the Money Bar. A very nice place.
We didn’t have any unforeseen charges on our bill upon check out.
If you prefer a very nice, calm, quiet, laid-back environment at a resort, the Fiesta Americana is for you. It's a great value for the price.
Our whole trip was wonderful and we couldn’t imagine a better experience at a better price. We definitely would go back!!
