“Great place to relax or be active”

Fiesta Americana Cozumel Dive Resort

My wife and I arrived here April 8, 2008. Sometimes we prefer to stay at five star resort, but sometimes we just want to relax in a more laid back, casual atmosphere. This Fiesta American in Cozumel is just that place. We've stayed here four time before, and each time has been very nice. The staff is helpful, the rooms are clean, and the food is good. You can snorkel right in front of the hotel, or at many other locations close by. The busy center of town is a short $6 cab ride, but far enough away to make this hotel a quiet place. Most people we talked to seemed to enjoy their stay here. Have fun!

My wife and I just returned from our second stay at the Fiesta Americana and I'd have to say we enjoyed it even more than last year. Although I can't disagree with the few gripes that others have written (small beach; somewhat limited food choices, firm mattress, etc.) we find these quite minor in the grand scheme of things, and even less significant when viewed in context of the total all-inclusive price. In my opinion you're getting what you pay for, and then some.

Regarding the service - no problems whatsoever at check-in or check-out, very friendly hotel and wait staff, and service was always provided with a smile. Housekeeping did forget us one day but were up to take care of things within minutes of our call. We also appreciated the fresh towels and turn down service in the evenings. Both of us thought the food was excellent... only one restaurant open for lunch and for dinner, but still enough menu choices that you don't have to eat the same meal twice (although I did since the grouper was FANTASTIC).

Similar to last year we did (5) days of two-tank dives with Dive House and again were impressed by their professionalism and friendliness. And of course, the diving is fantastic.

In summary, I can't swear we'll be back in Mexico next year since I'm itching to try some other places, but I can say without a doubt that if we are in Cozumel, we'll be at the Fiest Americana.

Just got back from a 5 day stay and we really enjoyed it. The hotel is very nice, the rooms very clean, and staff very polite and helpful. This was our second trip to Cozumel. Last time we stayed at the El Presidente the next resort north of the Fiesta Americana. That was before the hurricane. This hotel was much less costly and we felt we got a better room. We were on the second floor (same level as the lobby) and had a good view. Of course with all rooms having an ocean view they are probably all good. The snorkeling right in front of the hotel was pretty good we saw quite a few fish but there was little coral left. Just north of here is the Money Bar and snorkeling from a little south of it to a ways north of it was much more rewarding. There was a lot more coral and a wider variety of fish. We ate dinner at the hotel three nights. Thanks to whomever commented about the filet being good in their review - it was - I had it twice and my wife had it once. We also ate at the Money Bar once and at Primo an Itialian place in town - both were also good. We also want to thank all the reviewers who commented on how hard the beds are - you are right! The beds are probably a little softer than the tile floors, but, not much! Thanks to the forwarning of these revieweres, we took our Thermorest sleep pads along (which we use for camping to avoid laying directly on the ground). They worked great on the bed and we slept well! We think we also picked a great time to go. Early April is really quiet - I'd guess the hotel was only 15-20% occupied - we almost had the beach and snorkeling to ourselves. When we take another trip to Cozumel we will definately stay at the Fiesta Americana Dive Resort again. Highly recommended.

My husband and I and another couple just returned from a 9-day trip to Cozumel and a stay at the Fiesta Americana. Our check in went well and we were even able to get connecting rooms on the second floor. I had read that the first floor kind of smelled, so it worked out well. There were times that you would get a whiff of sewer, but it wasn’t that bad. Our rooms were nice and the shower had great pressure. Our rooms were always cleaned and restocked in a timely manner. The one thing in reading the reviews, and I think that a lot of people out there are just too darn picky, is that the mattresses are a bit harder than an average person has, but you get used to it and geez we were in Cozumel so it was all good!!! The room does come with a coffee maker, but beware they will charge you for the coffee - so bring your own and few filters too. Our view from the balcony was wonderful, even on the 2nd floor. The road isn’t even an issue and you will hardly even notice it. Do look both ways before crossing.
If your plan is to hang around the hotel we HIGHLY recommend the all-inclusive. Don’t expect gourmet meals, but you sure shouldn’t go hungry. You can get your money back if you drink.. Not sure of the name but try 1/2 pina colada and ½ strawberry daiquiri. YumO. The pool areas and beaches were always clean and well maintained. The swim up bar is fun feature. They have a towel service with very nice beach towels. All the staff we encountered were very nice and professional. If you are a tipper, which is a good thing, it is a good idea to bring dollar bills. We had no problem in using our American money.
We enjoyed the fact that we could just snorkel any time we wanted. It was pretty good and there were a lot of fish around the pier.
We heard that they highly recommend that you DO NOT rent scooters, but we did the last two days there and it was wonderful. They will bring the scooters to the hotel. Just know in advance what the total cost is. It shouldn’t be more that $35, plus maybe $5 for gas. We learned the hard way the first day. The hotel has secured parking. It was a great way to travel around the island to the Reggae Beach Bar, Playa Bonita, Coconuts and Mezacalitos. The ocean on that side of the island is beautiful. We only went to town once and it wasn’t that bad, you just have to be careful and watch out for the other guy.
We would recommend a walk up the street to the Money Bar. A very nice place.
We didn’t have any unforeseen charges on our bill upon check out.
If you prefer a very nice, calm, quiet, laid-back environment at a resort, the Fiesta Americana is for you. It's a great value for the price.
Our whole trip was wonderful and we couldn’t imagine a better experience at a better price. We definitely would go back!!

My life partner and I went to check the FA in Cozumel out. His first time to Mexico. We fell so in love with the FA we choose to go back in April of 08 to get married. We were they just a few hours and we knew this was the place we wanted to exchange our wedding vows.
