I booked a 5 night all inclusive stay at the FA from March 2-7 through Travelocity flying with Delta. Both Travelocity and Delta were great, but I am going to say the FA was just average for me. There were some great things along with some not so great, but it depends on the individual as to what is most important in choosing a resort.
Pros:
Overall, the resort and location were great. The rooms were clean and there were always extra towels available. There were no problems with the room, but I feel we would have been appropriately accomodated if there were, as the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The beach was nice and even though I am sure the marine life out front was better pre-hurricane destruction, I thought it was great and saw something new everyday. Large bottled water was included in the all inclusive which may have been worth the upgrade alone. I would say the food was good overall, there were always plenty of options to choose from and breakfast was great!!
Taxi's are readily available and rates are posted in the Lobby. Just ask the staff and they will call for a taxi to pick you up right out front.
Cons:
The beds....yes, they are extremely hard and honestly I am not one to care if the rooms are extravagant (because I am only in there to sleep), but when the beds are that uncomfortable, it's difficult to get a good nights sleep.
The waitstaff/bartenders were not as friendly and helpful as needed even though we left tips for everyone.
The Dive shop...I don't really know if they are affiliated with the hotel, because the front desk said they were not, but I thought the staff were extremely rude and if you plan on doing a lot of snorkeling, do take your own things. I had mine, but my aunt didn't and was only allowed to take the equipment out for an hour and a half, once a day. On our last morning we wanted to get in a last snorkel, but they said she had to wait until 9:30am to get the equipment even though they were open at 8am??? Still not sure the problem with that, but I would have went with another dive operation simply because they were not friendly with anyone who was not certified. We were planning a resort course with them, but decided against it after their impatience and demeanor with us when inquiring.

Off the resort:
We did the jungle horseback tour which was great fun and followed that by lunch at Coconuts, which is highly reccomended. The food, service, and views were exceptional.
We spent another morning in town to do some window shopping which could have been a lot better if the shop owners had not been so pushy. I have been to other islands, and thought they were persistent there, but nothing like downtown Cozumel, so be prepared.

Cell use/internet ..for those interested:
Verizon and AT&T did not work for us, but T Mobile did. Seems things work at sometimes and not others. There is WiFi in the lobby.

Overall it was a good trip, but I wouldn't return to the FA and I doubt I would return to Cozumel, there are too many other islands with much more to do and see.

I expended 5 days with my Wife in Cozumel, we took a promo package, it was all inclusive by 4 nights. Hotel is great, excellent food and enterteinment.

At begining I felt a little upset because when I checked the hotel pictures in the web, it looks like the hotel has a beach, but when we arrived we found that it wasn't a natural and real beach and the hotel is in the reef border. We expended the first day in the pool near to the ocean and my idea changed immediately.

I started to enjoy the food, drinks and service. The best was the drinks, in other all inclusive packages normally we received the water, sodas and beer directly from one machine, in this hotel you will receive everything in can or bottle.

Service was great from all the people during our five days.

Next days we decided to rent a car a know the island, it is amazing, nice place. On third day we expended all day in Chankanaab park, it is amazing and near to the hotel, you can pay 80 pesos takinx a taxi from the hotel or 15 minutes walking. We prefered walked and enjoy the ocean view.

I saw two hotels near to Fiesta Americana, Occidental and Intercontinental, perhaps these two hotels are better than fiesta americana, but I think this hotel was a great deal.

I forgot something, when we arived to the airport, we could not found the transportation included in the package, one girl took us to one guy and this guy told us a lot of things and references about Cozumel, at the end, this guy tried to get $500 pesos for two days car rental and got us to listen a share time explanation, pleas eignore this kind of guys, during our stay in Cozumel we understand that the guy was lying to us.

If you love snorkel and dive, go to Cozumel, don't take other tours, just enjoy Chankanaab park and visit Playa Mia beach, the best beach in the island.

We just returned from a week at the Fiesta Americana in Cozumel. We had a very good experience. We highly recommend doing the full inclusive package. Just the cost of bottled water, soda and drinks make it worthwhile. We do have couple of suggestions: first, bring lots of American dollar bills to tip the staff. It makes a big difference in the service you receive and the quality of the drinks. None of our drinks were watered down; we always had good seating at meals; and the staff remembered our names. It doesn’t need to be much--a dollar a drink or a couple of dollars for good service at breakfast or lunch goes a long way. And besides, this is just being a courteous tourist. Second, we suggest ordering from the menu at lunch and dinner. The food is generally better, although one night they had a buffet by the pool with really good tacos and burritos. I really liked the grouper tostadas and fish tacos at lunch, and the green salad at dinner. My spouse loved the filet mignon at dinner. Third, this is a dive resort. If you don’t dive, they have great staff who will patiently teach you how to dive. You can also snorkel right in front of the hotel. The hotel provides snorkeling equipment and sit-on-top kayaks for free in the all-inclusive package. They also have a great dive shop with tours going out three times a day. Given that serious divers stay here, it is not a crazy college-crowd party hotel—so nice! We had a great time and would return again.

We stayed at the Fiesta Americana for the 1st time in Feb. We booked a deluxe room that was on the 7th floor and looked out over the ocean. The room was large, clean, and just exactly what we expected from the pictures we'd seen. This isn't an upscale resort-it's a dive resort that caters to the average joe looking for excellent diving and snorkeling adventures. We had read other reviews that the staff were not friendly, but we were delighted to discover they were cordial, friendly and ready to meet our every need. Even the housekeeping and gardening staff spoke enough English to say hello and/or have a nice day which was a new experience for us and we've vacationed in MX for the past 7 years. For a 3-star all-inclusive, the food was excellent. Yes, everything wasn't always hot from the buffet, but, folks, it's outside and there's always a tropical breeze flowing through the area. I wil take the ocean view, palm trees, and a light tropical breeze any day over a "hot" meal. There were lots of choices on the buffet as well as the sit down restaurant and we never had to wait more than a minute or two to be seated. Tipping isn't required, but it sure helps to leave a dollar or two. The staff appreciate it and in turn give you even better service. For instance-my husband caught a Dolphin fish on a half-day fishing trip. We brought it back to the resort where the chef cooked us a fabulous mahi-mahi meal and didn't expect a dime in return! How many places will do that for you? If this is your first experience snorkeling, then you'll be excited to snorkel right in front of the resort, especially around the dock where everyone feeds the fish. You don't even have to get in the water to enjoy them. If you've done a lot of snorkeling and want see lots of fish, make the $6 taxi trip south to Playa Corona. It's a small restaurant and bar. You can leave all your things on a table there and the staff will watch it for you while you snorkel. All they ask is that you buy a drink or a sandwich before you leave. There's a place to wash off and a bathroom too. As soon as you step into the water, the fish surround you. It truly was awesome! If you're not a diver take the submarine ride. We didn't see a lot more fish, but it was still an outstanding experience. Every year we try out new resorts, but next winter we definately plan to return to the Fiesta Americana.

  • Liked — clean, great food, friendly/helpful staff, easy access to great snorkeling
  • Disliked — Activity staff need to expand and vary the entertainment. It was pretty boring and repetitive.

hmmm.. let me start by saying that the hotel was very nice.10 times as good as what i expected it to be. this was my 4th trip to cozumel but my first since hurricane wilma tore it apart.DO NOT DO THE ALL INCLUSIVE!!! first off there alchol selection is very poor and the food isn't good.well okay ur fine for breakfast and maybe lunch but not dinner.if your looking for dinner go to Guido's! its my fav place on the whole island.so first off the food is bad.secondly, the reefs are bassically gone! hurricane wilma destroyed most of it.alot of the marine life is gone as well which makes dives very boring.my dad has been going to cozumel for around 19 years and he has never seen a turtle there.but on this trip we saw at least 12! and they wern't tiny turtles. these were massive and i mean massive turtles.so that was cool.and were lucky enough to have spotted dolphins above the water when we had just motored up to our dive site.so the captain manuvered us to where we could possibly get in front of the path they were going...and sure enough about 5 min into our dive we saw 3 dolphins.that was amazing!!overall i will not return to Cozumel.for one the diving isn't very advanced as i would like it to be,the reefs are gone, and overall the island has changed to much from what it used to be....

  • Liked — It being away from the city...
  • Disliked — The bad diving...
