My husband and I had a good and bad experience with Fiesta Americana.
Starting with the positive, our housekeeper did and excellent job keeping our room clean and well stocked with towels. Our pool waiter was excellent, although we were all inclusive we still tipped him and he went above and beyond our expectations. The bar/pool staff was great. We enjoyed the pool very much. The bad, we did the all inclusive. If we did it again we probably would not go this route. The food was alright the restaurants were not open at certain times and you always had to remember make dinner reservations between 9a-5p. We were late coming back from a tour and we tried to make reservations after the fact and our concierge lectured us like children. We knew we were wrong to try after 5p but all she had to say was we could not make reservations. It was very unprofessional. Setting up the dives was easy however, after our last dive of the day our boat wasn't there when we surfaced. We were swimming for 30 min. and our "dive master" told us we probably had to swim to shore. We had to flag down another boat to radio our boat. To say the least, it was not a pleasant experience. If you set up dives through the Fiesta Americana they don't tell you where you are going until you are on the boat the day of your dive. Some in our group went on the same dive twice and they were disappointed. The park Chakanaab is within walking distance of the hotel. Warning, they really stick it to the tourists. We did the swim with the dolphins it was $119 dollars. They still charged us another $10 to get into the park. Also, they took us to the cleaners on our video they wanted $49 for the it when we went to pay for it in pesos they upped the price to 5200 pesos. The exchange rate was 10.6 and they charged us 10.8. Expect to get taken advantage of there. Be warned, one person in our group rented a scooter and was driving back to the hotel and he was stopped at the police check point. They wanted to see his license he showed them and told him it was 3000 pesos to get his license back. Finally, they let him go without having to pay. Cozumel is a beautiful island to explore but we will not return. We would rather return to the U.S. and British Virgin islands.
