We visited the Cozumel Palace from August 13th thru the 18th, the week before Hurricane Dean

The Cozumel Palace is absolutely fantastic. These are some of the most friendly and helpful staff that I have ever encountered bar none. The food was fantastic and the hotel itself is beautiful. Unlike other places that I have stayed at, the hotel rooms are exactly the way they look on their website.

We have decided that we will always see if a Palace Resort is available when we are booking a trip to Mexico.

This is our 4th time to visit Cozumel and my husband and I love it. We are actually avid cruisers and I don't really like All-inclusive hotels however; this one was the exception. The hotel is absolutely wonderful. They have premium liquer (crown royale) which is a must for my husband.
Tip: at the airport they will tell you about a MANDATORY meeting later that day however; this is just a time share push. You are wasting valuable time to get sucked into the hard sell. Also the girl at the hostess desk will tell you you have free trip excursions which is also a time share push.
1st day we could not check in until after 3:00p.m. however; they checked in our luggage and we went to town until the room was ready. We ALWAYS eat at Pancho's Backyard at the North end of town behind a store and it is so great we can not wait to go back and eat there next year. We shopped and to our amazement the prices have really gone up in one year. Still really fun. checked into the room which is idential to the website pictures.
Tip: you must wear a collared shirt to enter the specialty dining, however; no reservations are required.
2nd day we went into town to rent a jeep with Avis. At the hotel it is $100.00 and in town it is only $55.00. They will also bring the jeep to the hotel and when you return it they will bring you back to the hotel. We went thru the whole Island which is one major road and the signs are easily read to guide you. Coconuts is a great place to eat that is on the other side of the island and if you drive about 30 minutes you will see signs to guide you there. They only take cash so make sure to bring money. After site-seeing we returned to the hotel pool for some volleyball.
2nd night........that is when the hurricane nightmare began. We received a note under the door that the hotel was to be evacuated due to the hurricane by 10 a.m. the next day and they were transfering us to the Moon Palace in Cancun. We then began calling Vacations to Go regarding our flight back to the States On Monday.(this was Sat.night) later that night a Fun Jet rep. called the room to tell us our charter flight was leaving the next day (Sunday) instead of Monday so not to transfer to the other hotel but to go straight to the airport. We were in the lobby during the transfer and it was very organized and very smooth for the people who transfered. NOTE: all the people at other hotels that did not have sister properties to transfer to were taken to area shelters in Cancun. during Hurricane season it is best to consider this point when choosing a hotel. We had a great time and can not wait to return next year.

We stayed at Cozumel Palace August 10-17th 2007. This was the best resort we have ever stayed at. Service was excellent. There were a few minor things that could have been better, but nothing to spoil this beautiful place. We arrived very tired after traveling all night (10 hours) at about 2:00. We were greeted with the towel and champagne and told our room was not ready yet. They gave us a buzzer to notify when ready. We decided to go and have some lunch. About 3:45 we still had no buzz, so checked with desk and they were sorry they forgot to buzz us! We had booked with Apple Vacations and went to talk to him about tours. Had checked with the car rental service in the lobby and they wanted 109.00 for a jeep for the next day. Too much!! We mentioned this to the apple rep who said I can get you a car with A/C for alot less. So he set us up with best choice rentals for a car at 45.00 with full insurance. Traveled around the east side. What scenery! Enjoyed Punta Sur and climbed the lighthouse. We set up the included tours with Chaza Travel in the lobby and were happy to get 3 of them. Then we booked more with apple.
Our trips were to Chankanaab, did the snuba and swam with the dolphins there. Next, was to Tulum(full day) great place with the most beautiful coastal scene I have ever seen. Next day, glass bottom boat- fun 1 1/2 snorkeling, nice crew. Same afternoon-parasailing. This was fun but we felt a little ripped off. The company was Para Sail, the crew did not even tell us their names. We were supposed to go separate, 2 adults and a teenage 120 pound boy with each 15 minutes in the air. They said my son and I had to go together. We got about 7-8 minutes. My husband got 6-7 minutes. We expressed that we thought 15 minutes, the reply was it goes fast when having fun. They zipped us back to the dock and off they went. Total of 165.00 and we were back at the hotel within 30 minutes. We did complain to the apple rep and he said he would pass it along to the company. They also wanted cash in full when reservation was made, so I can't dispute a credit card charge! Oh well, another lesson learned! Restaurants- we had all of them twice or more. All were very good as were breakfast and lunches. My son is very picky and many times did not like anything on the menu. They asked him what he liked and made it up, griiled salmon. grilled cheese..whatever he wanted. Service was exceptional and always with smiles. The room was just as expected, maid service was great, whatever you need, you get! We watched the shows nightly except the couples night. All were very enjoyable. We were in room 419. I remember some bad reviews a way back about the pool noise etc. From our room the sound did seem a bit loud. I think if you were on either end of the hotel it would be much less noisy. But hey, we were on vacation and enjoyed all the activity.. Hallways were also noisy, but it was mostly drunken people going to their rooms at night laughing and talking loudly. These are things that happen everywhere and should not ruin anyones day! All in all the Cozumel Palace was fantastic. We were also very lucky that we got in our full week before Hurricane Dean came! I would reccomend this place to anyone, anytime.

We booked our trip on the Palace website and in all my research, I found this to be the cheapest site. The hotel has good service and they have different shows each night. The fire show is the best and I think it is on Wednesdays. I wish the hotel had a beach but the good thing is you can snorkel right off the back of the hotel. There is free snorkeling gear at the back of the outside grill. The pool is a lot off fun and the rooms are very nice. However, you can hear everything in the halls. I would recommend requesting a room on the 4th or 5th floor away from the elevators. They provide you with plenty of bottled water in the rooms for brushing your teeth, etc. There is also a mini-fridge with beer and pop and a liquor dispenser. You won't need any toiletries. They provide colgate toothbrushes & toothpaste and also biosilk shampoo & conditioner and soap. We also used the in room safe a lot.
The food at the hotel was overall good. The guacamole is wonderful! We liked the chinese food the best. The outside grill is also pretty good. The pool bar was a lot of fun. The Banana Monkey and Miami Vice drinks are yummy. Also, you can ask for other drinks that are not on the menu and they will make them, like a mudslide.
The resort is small and we did get to meet several very nice couples that we hung out with during the trip. It is only a few minutes from the downtown shopping area. I didn't really enjoy the shopping, people are too pushy and hassle you all the time. Also, it was so hot, my make-up would just melt right off.
We got a number from the hotel to go parasailing and that was $60 a person, but they wouldn't let us ride double, but you could in Playa Del Carmen. You can take the ferry there for about $20 a person. Also, we rented a jeep one day for $50 and drove around the island. Punta Sur was very pretty and we ate at Coconuts which had a beautiful view. Be careful when getting gas, they will try to rip you off. Make sure you stop them before they start putting gas in and make sure the pump is at $0. Also, they will try to put in the expensive grade fuel. We also took the free tour to Chankanaab and swam with the dolphins($99-$139). It was my favorite part of the trip!
Overall, we had a wonderful time. There were a few glitches, but nothing horrible. The staff is great and the hotel is very clean and nice. I am really glad we did all inclusive. It was nice not to have to worry about carrying around money to eat or drink. However, we did try to tip since the service is much better than normal.

Stayed at the Cozumel Palace 7-30-07 through 8-3-07. First time at an all inclusive. Here are the main points:
From looking around this facility appears to be small for an all-inclusive, but that makes it intimate and very pleasant. It still had plenty of things to do and see.
Check-in: Got there early, about 10 a.m. got wristbands, checked bags, talked about the passport trips and scheduled a few and off we went to enjoy the facilities. Room was ready by 12:30 and was let right in.
Staff: Outstanding, kind, always willing to help, go above and beyond. Please take plenty of sigle dollar bills to tip them, they deserve it!
Room/Facility: Spotless, beautiful rooms and balcony with gorgeous views of the ocean including hammock, chairs and small table. A/C worked great and it was very hot. No beach but nice snorkeling area and beach loungers - no problem finding some at any time. Pool is a bi-level, clean and just the right temperature. Swim up pool was fun with the choice to meet others if you wanted. The staff here were outstanding, Franklin and Ricardo - great job!
Snorkeling: Saw lots of colorful fish- queen angelfish-porkfish-bluestriped grunts and even two barracuda's, all right off the hotel's snorkeling area.
Food: Was great. Lots to choose from. I found I could always get just what I wanted. Loved the Mexican Restaurant (two dinners there). Read many review of people tired of same food, but wasn't our issue staying four days. The outdoor grill for dinner was great and the Mayan show after was very interesting.
Time Share: We did not encounter ANY pitches or pressure to do this.
Additional Perks: We were able to go to any other Palace and use all facilities and eat or drink there and there was no problem doing this.
Accessiblity: There was a Chedraui grocery store right across the street with clothing and many items in case you forgot something. This always makes things more economical. It is a 15 - 20 minute walk to town which was very easy to do even though it was hot.
We chose Cozumel because we love to snorkel and like being able to walk into town and the Palace seemed to have it all.
Thank you Cozumel Palace, for wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. We won't hesitate to come back!
