We just got back from the Cozumel Palace on July 1st and had a truly wonderful time! We visited for 4 days/3 nights with our dear friends. We really loved being able to snorkel right off the hotel deck, that was truly amazing. We saw so many different fish and even a barracuda one time! This is a great place to learn how to snorkel without spending hours going out to a reef. We have snorkeled for 15 years and still found the CP reef to be amazing. Our husbands booked a diving trip from the hotel tour operator and really enjoyed the "two" reef dive. They saw some amazing coral, fish and three HUGE lobsters. We can't wait to see how the underwater pictures turned out.

The rooms are beautiful, just like the pictures show. They even give you large size bottles of Farouk BioSilk bath products, very impressive. I've never stayed at a 5-Star hotel that gives you such quality toiletries in the larger size and we have stayed at several Westin hotels, etc. The in-room jacuzzi is so neat. You can even relax and enjoy a movie while you are in the tub. Each room has a robe and slippers for two, you are free to take the slippers home. The room liquor dispensers and stocked refrigerator is great. We even enjoyed the coffee we made in our rooms, very good quality and they keep water botles everywhere so you don't accidentally drink the tap water. Please don't forget to tip the room maids, we did and they certainly deserved it.

The food is wonderful!! We never had a meal we didn't like. The beef steaks, fish fillets and tuna steaks at the pool side grill were our favorite. The breakfast buffet has everything you could want and they will make omelets, waffles, pancakes or French Toast just for you so it's fresh and hot. We enjoyed the Asian restuarant and those waiters were great!!! We didn't try the other restuarants because the outside grill was so good we didn't want to miss it. We never had to wait long for our "cooked to order" meal either, 10 minutes at the most. This is a big plus since the hotel is not too large, you really get pampered by the staff and don't feel like you have to "fight" for your food at the buffets :-) The Fried Ice Cream and Coconut Ice Cream truly are wonderful, just like the previous posts have mentioned.

The staff are really wonderful! They greet you at the checkin counter with champagne. We emailed our room requests a few weeks prior to our trip and received just what we wanted (two ocean view rooms on the 4th floor). It was just like a dream, everything was PERFECT!! The waiters and bartenders are great! I am hooked on the Miami Vice and Rum Runner made with fresh bananas....YUMMY. We also tried the Bumble Bee that was mentioned on Trip Advisor and it is really good. I also ordered a cappucinno with Baileys a few times and they were wonderful. We tipped the waiters and the bartenders because they really work hard to please you. Luis is a great bartender and never made a "weak" drink!! We were never told "no" to any special requests we made.......truly awesome staff!!!!

We decided to rent a jeep at the airport because we were offered a "too good to be true deal". DO NOT RENT AT THE AIRPORT FROM A TOUR OPERATOR OR SIGN UP FOR A DISCOUNTED TOUR. Tourist Advisory has an employee, Jesus, that is dishonest. He agreed to rent us a jeep for $120 (started out as $150) for 3 days and pretended to be our American Airlines Vacations tour representative. When we returned our Jeep, Hertz told us we owed an additonal $180 for not attending the "time share" presentation at the MAYAN PALACE. Jesus had changed our rental agreement in a different color ink (so it's easy to spot the fraud) after we left with our Jeep. We were held at the Hertz counter and were told they would call the police if we didn't pay the additional $180. They also threatened to hold us there long enough to miss our flight. We finally paid it with our Visa card and have now disputed the charge. Visa is working to get our money back over the next 10 days. Just rent a Jeep from the resort or down the street from the rental agencies, that's the best way to see the entire island.

We loved our day in the $300 Jeep!! We went to Coconuts and had the wonderful fish tacos and margaritas. We also snapped some great Iguana and ocean view pictures. Thanks for the Trip Advisor referrals!! They helped us find the best places to stop. We stopped at Chen Rio and snorkeled. This place is sooo neat and the seafood feast for four was wonderful!! We could have eaten those lobster tails and red snapper for every meal!!! Don't forget to pack your own snorkel gear so you can snorkel where ever you decide to stop. We felt sorry for a family from a cruise ship at Chen Rio. The kids really wanted to snorkel with us but there were no places to rent the gear. We bought our own at home for a very reasonable price and I highly recommend that.

We have decided to come back to Cozumel Palace next summer and bring the kids now that they are getting old enough to try snorkeling.

My husband and I just came back from celebrating our 10th anniversary in Cozumel. Cozumel Palace is a nice hotel. The service was amazing. The staff is there to please. We were treated very well on site. The drinks are stout. The food for the most part is okay. The exception being Momonohana, the Japanese restaurant open for dinner, it was really good. There weren't many choices for breakfast or lunch.

This was our first stay in an all inclusive. We enjoyed the convenience. It was nice not to have to worry about having lots of money on hand. We just took some $1's for tips. Tips are not necessary since they are included in the AI package, but when someone went above and beyond we certainly had no problem giving a little extra.

We went on 3 dives with Aqua Safari the on-site dive operators. The diving was amazing!! The boat crew and dive masters were knowledgeable and accommodating. We felt like the prices were very fair. If you go out on the morning dive, you only pay $9 per person for the afternoon dive. You just can't beat that!

There is no beach at Cozumel Palace. There are a couple docks with ladders for entry into the ocean. The snorkeling there is pretty good. We saw lots of fish, rays, eels, crabs, and anemones.

We rented a jeep down the street from the hotel for half what the on-site car rental shop was charging. Driving to the other side of the island is a must. The "wild" side is so very gorgeous! Because there is very little industry on that side of the island, the scenery is left open to view and enjoy. There are actually beaches on that side and quite a few neat little bars.

While I enjoyed our stay at Cozumel Palace, I don't think I would go again for a romantic get away. I certainly wouldn't recommend it for honeymooners or families. The property is very pretty, but it's also very crowded! The pool is packed all day with groups there to have fun. There was a lot of drinking and it was really loud. This is all great if you are in a party mood, but I wanted to let those of you looking for a romantic or family getaway know about the atmosphere. I think Cozumel Palace would be great for a girls getaway or a fun couples trip.

  • Disliked — The pool party scene...I was there for a romantic getaway.

The staff at the Cozumel Palace goes above and beyond. They met and exceeded every expectation. The rooms are beautiful. Plenty of hot water even for the jacuzzi. The mini-fridge stayed stocked. We ordered room service and I was expecting a really long wait as other hotels often have. I was quite surprised within 20 minutes our food was delivered. We had the same service 2 nights in a row, so it was consistent. Anything we needed from housekeeping was delivered promptly. No begging for towels at the Palace. You also get to keep the sweet white house slippers!
The towel art evening is a nice touch too.

The grill area were spotless. We didnt have to put up with birds and a bunch of flies like other hotels we have stayed at. The service at each and every restaurant was impeccible. I believe we ate our weight in guacamole. The steaks grilled outside in the evening were mouth watering. You could pick from several cuts of beef, chicken, & fish. The side dishes were a treat as well.

The room wasn't ready on check-in, but ready exactly in the timeframe they had given us. We had a group of 6 rooms and one person did have a street view room for 1 night. The 2 of us that had emailed our room request ahead did receive the floors we requested. 3 of us were on the 3rd floor. The view from there is great. We were also happy to see a good sized elevator that was speedy.

The location is great to visit local eateries and shops.

Well, all of my research did not lead me astray!! My wife and I (27 &
24 years of age) thoroughly enjoyed our 8 day/7 night stay at Coz Palace for our honeymoon. Both the resort and the island of Cozumel are just breathtaking! Here is my advice for all you travelers considering the Palace:

1. If you're concerned, as I was, that there won't be enough to do at this quaint little resort, don't worry. Between the proximity to town/shopping, on-site snorkeling, and constant activities being put on by the activity coordinators, you'll find plenty to keep you busy.
For the most part, my wife laid out and I played water volleyball most all day (which I often got yelled at for spiking on women and young children). Then there were the 'crazy games' which were corny at times but none the less they were always entertaining. We also really enjoyed snorkeling for a few hours throughout the week. They provide all the gear and you hop right in just a few steps away from the pool area. We did bartending lessons, learned how to make their amazingly good guacamole, and my wife got her nails done.

The size of the resort to me was actually a huge plus! It felt so much more intimate and it was fun getting to know all the staff throughout the week. I think it's also easier to get to know other couples at a smaller resort. I didn't know if we would wind up hanging out with anyone else on this trip but we wound up really enjoying hanging out with another honeymooning couple (Rick and Lisa) while there. I just don't think I would enjoy being 1 of a thousand guests at the larger resorts.

2. As many past reviewers have recommended, you MUST rent a vehicle for at least a day and check out the undeveloped part of the island (south & east). I had no idea how cool this was going to be. Also, don't rent at the resort. You'll get a jeep much cheaper a little ways down the road toward town. The resort charges about $100 per day
and you can actually get one for about $50. We rented ours from Alamo
which is just off the north east corner of the square downtown but other guests rented one for the same price just a block or two away from the resort. It's impossible to get lost as there is just one road that follows right along the beach & ocean all the way around the tip of the island. The places you must stop at are Rastas and Coconuts. They're like little shacks/huts right on the beach with food and drink. We just split something at each place and had a couple drinks. Coconuts actually sits on the tip of a cliff and it's an awesome view!! Little steps with iguanas lead you up to the bar. We also stopped for some mahi mahi at Albertos which was just caught on their little fishing boats that day, and it was the easily the best seafood I've ever had! Overall, it was an incredible day and I wouldn't go without stopping by these places.

3. I recommend requesting a room on a high floor (4th or 5th floor) for the balcony and view and be sure to specifiy ocean front w/jaccuzi and if you want a king sized bed. All of our requests were granted. We were in room #426 and it was perfect. Each evening we watched the sun set over the ocean while relaxing in our huge jaccuzi
while sipping on some champagne. We also lucked out because this room
is almost dead center of the resort and right by the elevator too which was extremely convenient. It took no time at all (maybe 2 minutes) to run back and forth between the room and pool/restaurants.

4. Last but not least, my review of the eatery. Our first evening there we spoke with 2 couples on their last evening at the resort. They both said their favorite restaurant was the grill and the Asian was a close 2nd. They were absolutely right!! At the grill they were
throwing on grouper and ribeyes and preparing them however you like. The sides they had were very good also. We loved the grill for lunch and dinner. I had a really good meal at the Italian but my wife didn't care much for hers. We were surprised the Mexican wasn't better. It was just O.K. Although, we're pretty sure there are really good dishes at all of these places. You just have to find them! Overall, the grill is a safe bet! For lunch, we had their chicken sandwich with fries every day and split some nachos. As I said before, their nachos are very good and the guacamole is amazing!! I'd eat it with a spoon!! We did the lunch buffet on the last day and it was pretty good also. Lots of choices. The breakfast buffet was very good too. The chef would prepare pretty much anything
you wanted right in front of you.

Remember, tip your waiters/waitresses! You see the same people at breakfast working at dinner time. They slave away the entire day and if you talk to them, they don't get any meals from the resort either. We talked with other more well-traveled couples and they all said they've never experienced better service than at Coz Palace!! These people work so hard and will do most anything to accomodate and please you.

We visited the Cozumel Palace on May 24-31 for our honeymoon. Booked the trip through Cancungogo.com. They are here in Virginia and did a fantastic job working a very good deal.

I have stayed at Adventura and Moon palace previously and enjoyed them both but the service at Cozumel Palace blew them away. Being a smaller resort with fewer people makes it a little more intimate.

The rooms are great, just as promised. The liquor and drinks were always replenished each day and much appreciated.

We ate a ton and drank a ton and definately got our money's worth.

Went deep sea fishing through one of the captains that Chaza works with. Had a great time. Caught two Mahi-Mahi, two barracuda and two black fin tuna. Also caught and lost (twice) a blue marlin much to my husbands dismay.

The chef at the mexican restaurant cooked some of our fish special for us and we were lucky enough to have made friends with two other couples that shared that meal with us.

This trip was better than I had dreamed it could be! We will be back
