Where do I begin?? Cozumel palace was incredible! My husband and I took our second honeymoon there through a family member's timeshare. The resort has the best customer service! Everyone is extremely helpful, patient, accomodating, and nice. Keep in mind, although it is an all inclusive resort, we tipped all day every day. The employees are so kind and hard working that we could not do it any other way. I was surprised at how many people we saw NOT tipping after meals or drink orders. To each his own, but we feel that is the least we could do. Even a dollar means a lot to the employees. Needless to say, we got treated very well and were remembered by most of the employees. They called us by name the whole trip every day!

The resort itself is in a great location with fantastic view off the back of the resort. We stayed in room 532 and it could not have been better. The rooms are immaculate and bright. The room is big, with a great comfortable bed, jacuzzi, hammock, mini fridge with soda and beer, hard liquor cabinet, flat screen tv...and more. The shower was lovely even. The only thing is that our room does not have a noise barrier on the bottom of the door. Like a rubber stripping thing, and we could hear everything. The hall way could get noisy sometimes and all the other rooms had the normal weather stripping along the bottom of the door as where ours had like a one inch gap to the floor. FYI.
Every person on the staff that we came in contact with was amazing. They treat you like royalty and do it ever so happily. The resort is in a great spot because there are restaraunts and bars to go to that are close and safe. It is very close to the cruise port so you can watch those come and go and that means there is lots to do around there. At night one night we went dancing at Carlos n' Charlies...fun! It was a much younger crowd there. At the resort and out at bars there were often many newly 18 yr.olds partying down. Every night we went out we felt very safe and locals would say hello. Very hospitable.
The resort food: not bad. I read many complaints on this site about all inclusive food, but what do you expect? Neither of us are picky eaters, so we were happy every place we tried. The resort has 5 different places to eat and they are all different. The first night we did asian and were not thrilled. My sweet and sour pork tasted good but the pork was very tough and dry. Next night we ate italian and that was very good. Lasagna was great and my husband got a filet and some fish, very good too. Third night we ate at the mexican restaurant and loved it! We ate there for the next four nights, no joke. The appetizer they bring is pretty bad, but don't let that scare you away! The lime soup, cheese soup, chicken fajitas, beef fajitas, tacos, burritas, shrimp fajitas(not on menu but they will make them) were all excellent. We practically ate everything on the menu during our stay. We did not even do two of the other restaurants because we were happy with the mexican too much. The breakfast buffet was really good I thought. There is something for everyone! From yummy mexican food in the morning if you like that to crepes and pancakes. Whatever you want, you can have. Great omelets!

The pool was really fun during the day when we did not go out. BE CAREFUL...the floors are beautiful, but very slippery!! People were sliding all over the place. Very dangerous choice for poolside decking, but just be aware. Even shoes slip on it! Same slippery floor problem in the rooms, be careful. The pool bar was great, I love Fransisco, he was so nice. Roque is the activities man who is hilarious and determined to get people involved. I did the water aerobics...I was sore the next day!
The staff is amazing, but two gentlemen stood out above the crowd. Miguel L. and Marcos were always so accomodating and helpful. They filled out frequent request to eat dinner outside by the show. Nightly shows are great! Don't miss Tues. night for the fire show, best one!! The two guys mentioned above were so impressive in every way!
Room service: I tried it three times and it was never good. The food was always cold, every time, like it was sitting out. The last time we got it was for breakfast on our last morning there and it was great! So, breakfast worked out wonderful..hot fresh omelets and all. Even milk and cereal for my husband. The late night room service is what I did most and was disappointed.
The spa was wonderful! Great massage and pedicure. Vanessa did my manicure/pedicure and did a lovely job. Better than the salons here in Scottsdale for sure. My toes still look great!
Traveling outside the hotel is a must. We rented one scooter and I was on back. This was the best day of our entire trip. We got to see the entire island on our own terms and on one side of the island is just deserted beautiful beach the entire way, with some great bars along the way. The rasta bar is a must do and coconuts too(great views). I could go on all day, but I will stop shortly. Basically, the palace was a terrific all inclusive resort and we can't wait to return! We swam with the dolphins one day and snorkeled and it was all wonderful. Use the same street smarts you do back home and you'll be fine. We always locked our stuff up and kept all money on us. My husband always kept his money in is pocket in his suit and everyone takes wet money, no problem. It's better than worrying about it getting stolen. We used the safe in the room and had no problems. We kept our important stuff in there at all times, do not go outside the resort with your passports, as we met newlyweds who had them stolen at Chakkanaab from there locker. Just bring essentials and pay with wet $$. Be safe, have fun, treat the locals well and write your own opinion when you are done. I love this site for when I am going to travel, so helpful! Cozumel palace will NOT disappoint...unless you are really picky or Very hard to please. Wonderful trip and beautiful sunset every night from out balcony!

We had 8 fantastice days at the Palace!!

This is a wonderful resort. My wife and I wanted a week to totally relax and unwind! This was the place to do it. We made no plans to take any side trips and thought we would just take it a day at a time. We didn't need to do anything extra. Everything at the resort was perfect and just what we wanted and needed!

The staff was unbelievable. After having stayed in large all-inclusives, the people here really stood out. It was great to be small enough to actually get to know some of the staff. They are just fantastic and so helpful.

We really loved the food. The food at other resorts we've stayed at has been only so-so, but the Palace had some great food. Even staying there a week, we always had something new and fun to try. We didn't have one thing we didn't enjoy.

Then there are the drinks. OK, we like to drink. The pool and bar always had a "drink of the day" and we tried them all. They also had a nice drink menu to look at. We tried all of those also. They had every kind of drink you could think of. Even some nice cognac! We especially enjoyed trying shots of tequila!

Our room was outstanding. We requested a top floor room with a king. They had it all ready for us when we arrived! Big and clean and beautiful. Very comfortable bed, great hot tub, excellent patio and hammock, and what a fantastic view!!

The ocean and the pools were perfect. The pools always were the perfect tempature and felt great to take the heat of the day away. Never crowded. Easy to find a chair just where we wanted. Plenty of umbrellas if you get too hot. The staff was always nearby to bring you a drink.

Snorkeling was great. We snorkeled a coulple of times every day. The water was perfect and rarely ever rough. It was great to have it so close and convenient. We brought our own fins and snorkels and we were glad we did, because we used them so much.

You just can't go to Cozumel Palace and not enjoy yourself. It's a fantastic place for a couple looking to get away from it all!

Over the past 25 years I have been to Mexico over 75 times. Half of those times I probably have stayed in some type of all-inclusive resort. I am not a big fan of all-inclusives because to really enjoy a city, you have to get out of the hotel and visit local bars and cafes. But if you are going to stay at an all-inclusive, Cozumel Palace is the place to stay. It is beautiful, clean, and close to town and the action. It does not have a beach but does have great access to the ocean with a beach area. No beach is a non issue. The many choices of food and daily activities make it a possibility to go to Cozumel Palace and never leave for a week. There are no timeshare hassles, ever, and the service is as good as you would find in any hotel. All public areas and hallways are air conditioned which is not common in all-inclusives. The staff is apparently well trained and treat everyone with respect and appreciation. They want you to return. I had three 10 year old boys with me and the staff made sure they were happy and daily would approach them for different activities. They honestly include tours in the price of the stay. We took the glass bottom boat and snorkle tour and it was a great way to spend a couple of hours, especially if you are new to snorkling. There is a tours desk available in the lobby and also an Avis Car Rental in the lobby. I suggest renting a car for the day and touring the other side of the island. Avis is competitive and on the property. Where travel agents drop the ball is advising you when arriving at the airport after immigration is to not speak to anyone outside the customs area but inside the building. These are timeshare salesmen there to rip you off. Your transportation is outside the second set of glass doors at the vans. Anything the sales people inside the building are offering you is a rip off. If you do not have transfers you can approach the employees at the van and they will sell you a transfer or Avis Car Rental also has a location in the airport. Any tour you may be interested in is available at the hotel for the same price with no strings attached. Be sure and eat at Casa Denis in the square! I cannot say enough good things about this property. It was truly impressive in every way.

My wife and I stayed at Cozumel Place for 10 days......just the perfect amount of time. I cant believe how accurate just about everyone was in regarding to rating CZ so high. We were never disappointed. Yes, nothings perfect, and we did have a water leak in the bathroom that forced us to move to another room.. Actually I spoke to two other couples that also moved.....One because the ice machine by their room was noisy, and one said someone had been smoking cigars in the room and it smelled really bad.... rooms are non smoking.
The staff were just outstanding. The drinks were good. Like so many have stated, you do have to ask for the primium liquors or you'll get the cheap stuff. One day, they had all the premium tequillas out with shot glasses, salt and fresh lime. Snacks were libreral, the guacamole, salsa and chips were to die for.
I think we like the asian restaurant the best, with the mexican coming in a close second.
It's true that the entertainment was not really that great, but it was interesting to watch.
I remember reading reviews before we left warning what rooms you should not take. and they were all true. The first floor doesn't have a balcony, etc.
I think the most disappointment was how poor the snorkeling was. I only found one reef that even had any colored coral.... I beleive it was the columbia reef.....and that's when I was scuba diving.....but I was also only diving in 40 feet due to not being ceritifed.....so mayvbe there's deeper reefs out there that better..
Also the weather wasn't the best....lots of rain and wind that really reduced visability....maybe 60-70 feet.
We loved the quant, small invirorment. Everyone was extremely friendly and made us feel at home.
The day we left, the outside food area that made hamburgers and sandwitches, (which by the way were very good) was not opened. We asked one of the main waiters if there was any way we could get some food since we had a plane to catch. He got on a walkie talkie, called in a cook, and in less than 15 minutes we had a hamburger, a checken sandwatch and some great french fires all in a "to go" containers. Now that's good service.
In your room you'll find all kinds of liquor, mexican beers, sodas, and bottled water. By they way, they filter all the water, including the ice.
Well we got talked into going to the mainland to have them try and convince us into purchasing a time "like" share at Aventura spa palace. It was gorgious. The food was very good and it was just to big for us. No, we didn't say yes, but it really wasn't a bad deal. But in return we got $200 spa money, and $100 for spending anywhere on the resort. By the way, our 1hr and 10 minute massage was just wonderful. My wife a a facial, and worked on her finger nails and toes......all free.
One thing we're are going to do is get closer to high season next time. That's why we've aready set up to go in April 2008. March 31st is last high season day. This is the first time we've every gone back to the same place two times in a row. It's just we had the most relazing vactation we've had in the last 36 years. And yes, we celebrated our 36th there. They sent a bottle of champagne to our room and we took it down to the bar, played cards and enjoyed.
This place is not the best for kids, and I'd say the majority age were in their early 20's to 60's.
We tipped liberally, lots of singles and $5....and believe me, everyone deserved it.
Well that's about it. Everyone we talked to there said they loved it at CP and we totally agree. YOu cant go wrong with this small all inclusive resort. One more thing, if you have an option about being all incluse or not, you MUST choose all inclusive. You will be sorry if you don't.
Take care,
Placerville RN

This was our first trip to Cozumel and the Coz bug has officially bitten us. Both the Cozumel Palace and the island exceeded our expectations.

First, we booked our trip directly through the Palace web site and saved over $250 versus any of the other travel agencies (including Orbitz, Expedia, Priceline, CheapCaribbean, Travelocity, etc.). They accommodated all of our specific request, including top floor with good view.

We had a corner 5th floor room, which appears to have been one of the few rooms that had an L-shaped balcony with view straight out to ocean, as well as an open side view to the pool area. As most others have posted, the rooms are exactly as shown in the photos. Very clean, large room, comfortable beds, nice large jetted tub, wet bar, refrigerator that is restocked daily, etc. Very Nice. However, a bit of a Warning: Even though the floors are all beautiful marble and tile, they are very slippery when wet. My wife fell and injured her knee in our room, and a member of the other family we went with slipped and fell in their room (no alcohol involved in either fall). I guess that is why the provide slippers in the rooms.

For the most part, the food was very good and much better than what we expected. The only disappointment was the Mexican restaurant. Although the presentation of the food at this restaurant was amazing, the taste was very bland and not very good. However, this was not a problem; we just finished what we wanted and went to another restaurant. The Italian restaurant was our favorite. The lasagna, mahi-mahi, and filet were all great. The coconut ice cream was also excellent for dessert. We actually ate most of our meals (lunch and dinner) at the outside grill, which was also very good. For lunch, they had a wide variety of sandwiches and burgers served with fries, and for dinner, they had steaks, fish, chicken, buffet salads and vegetables, etc.). The 24-hour room service is also very good and is an included bonus (no additional charge).

Drinks: Limited beer selection, but I did enjoy the Tacata and Dos Equis. Drinks were mixed as week or as strong as you request, with the brand of your choice. Very good top shelf selection, especially at lobby bar. Omar (the bar tender at swim up bar) is my new best friend.

The resort itself was very clean and the staff very friendly. The first night when we got back to our room the front desk called to make sure our room was satisfactory and to see if we needed anything. Room towels were replaced twice daily. The hotel had a nice gift shop with reasonable prices.

The only hotel included trip we did was the glass bottom boat/snorkeling trip. It was O. K., but the snorkeling around the resort was actually much better than where they took us. The other family we went with took the Chankanaab trip and was a little disappointed.

Instead of the included trips, we chose to do a full day deep-sea fishing trip, the Atlantis Submarine, and a trip to the east side. Fishing trip was great (Ocean Tours- Thanks Antonio). Submarine was a great experience. It was a nice family trip, but not something I would want to do every year. As a recent post noted, we did not see many fish. Finally, the east side tour was one of the highlights of our trip. We started at Mezcalitos and worked our way south, with stops at several secluded beaches, Coconuts, Chen Rio and a on our way back into town a final stop a Mr. Sancho’s. All were great, but it is hard to top drinks at Coconuts. Because this was our first trip to Cozumel and we wanted to enjoy some cerveze, we chose to hire a van & driver rather than rent a car. Once we were ready to go, we simply stepped outside the hotel handed the bellhop a few dollars and asked him to negotiate the best deal with one of the English-speaking drivers waiting outside the hotel. The large/newer van with a/c ended up only costing $120 for four hours, for all seven (7) of us. However, I did tip the driver well since he was so nice, helpful and patient.

Overall, it is a great hotel and island. Location is good, as you can safely walk to many restaurants, shops, etc. If you are there on a Sunday, definitely recommend going to the town square for the Sunday Night celebration/party/whatever (live music, dancing, etc.) It is for the locals, but tourists were welcomed.

Never been much of a fan of all-inclusive hotels/resorts, but the Cozumel Palace is definitely “The Ultimate All-Inclusive Experience.” 5 nights was not long enough. We are already planning a return trip for next year and it will be at least 7 nights.
