We had the pleasure of staying at Cozumel Palace Feb 3 - 8, not long enough. When we landed it took about 40 minutes to get thru customs. On our trip to Cancun it took about an hour and a half, Cabo about an hour so this seemed pretty quick. The airport was crazy and a bit confusing if you didn't have a vocher for transportation. I had read in past reviews that the Taxi system didn't come up to the airport so to walk to the road. That is what we ended up doing. We didn't just didn't know what desk to go up to or who was a timeshare sellers etc. It tokk about 2 minutes to walk down the path and they are waiting for you. You just need to go towards the round - a -bout nad someone will start hailing a cab for you, took no time at all. The cab ride to the hotel took a bit as traffic was thick and it was busy, probably 15 minutes or so.
We arrived at the hotel just shortly before 6 PM, no one else was checking in. We were supposed to arrive at 2 30, plane probs. in Houston. We were greeted with smiles adn told to sit down and someone would be with us shortly. They came over to us in about 5minutes. We were looking at the view, etc. so no big deal. They brought over a champagne cocktail and me a red carnation which was a nice added touch. We were given 2 key cards and escorted to the 5th floor, ya baby, top floor! I was very excited about this after reading reviews but all worked out very, very well! We ate at the grill that night. Hubby had steak, has a slightly different flavor than mid west meat but nothing made us sick. I ate salad that night which was just fine and again no sickness or grossness to it.
Breakfast was always good and we were always greeted with smiles. Their was a variety of foods, breakfast stuff, as well as, meats cheeses, etc...
The following day was gorgeous and the water was smooth and beautiful. The sun was bright and all was perfect! We got longue chairs by the pool that day as they were the only ones left. yes, people do put their stuff on spots, starting at baout 7 30 AM, if the day is bright and sunny, if not, a little later during the day. That night we ate Mexican, they forgot our oder and things were a little crazy but the food was good. I had chicken fajitas and hubby had a meat combo platter dish. The fajita meat/ chicken was good, tasted like grilled chicken to me. Hubby said his platter was OK not great.
Day 2, We woke up to very strong winds and crappy weather. We went into town and mad the most of. It was an easy walk, 10 min or so but your so busy taking everything in, it's really nothing. The sun came out arounf 2 30 or so off and on. We ended up at Fat Tuesdays, had nachos adn a margs. The bill was $30. The margs were in big tall shot like glasses, $10 bucks a piece! We didn't eat in town a lot so we were OK with that. While eating soem guys came up and did a Mayan Indian fire dance, it was neat adn then of course everybody gave them a couple bucks. They were dressed in full garb, painted faces, etc. We ate the Itialian that night. The appiatizers were small but tasty. I had pasta it was good. Hubby had shrimp with garlic wine sauce, this was his favorite meal, probably mine too.
Day 3, turned about being partly cloudy esp. in the AM. We walked the oppiste way of town, seems like forever, got some good exercise. The walk was probably an hour and 15minutes give or take. We ended up getting to other hotels, nothing looked like it even came close to the Palace. We did see one, that I don't remember the name of, sorry. It had littel coves adn a neat looking beach. On the walk we noticed a lot of rebuilding and workers. It would be neat to go back in about 2 yrs and see all the differences! We laid by the pool med day, water was rough and they had a black flag up all day. We ate at the grill again that night, I had chicken shishcobobs hubby, had steak again. We had some red wine that was pretty tasty nd sat with another couple we had met. The fire show was outside that night and really fun to watch. We were just finishing dinner so we had really good seats. Our waiter, Joe, was great lots of personality! My favorite guy so I had to get a picture! ( ;
Day 4 was partly cloudy, waves still roguh but bright yellow flag so people could snorkel, dive, etc. Hubby jumped in with people we met and was in for hours. I jumped in and out twice, not in for long, a little nervous but was happy I did it. I had a lot of supporters LOL. All our new buddies gave me courage! ( ;
We ate in town that night with a group of new friends, It's amazing how friendships form! We went to Senor Frogs, food and drink was good, no one got sick, we danced, swung on the swings and partied a bit. We always felt safe night and day, as a couple or in a group.
Day 5, Our day to go, yes, already! We ate breakfast, packed said, goodbye to new friends. I laid out a while, huby got back in the water and had a couple drinks! ( ; Check out was easy. They held our bags for us,as you had to be out of the room by noon but were given a day pass to use the resort until we left, very nice.
We have been to 3 AI's in Mexcio and this was the best and most professional by far. It was smaller than the other 2 but very clean and beautiful. We are not divers but met lots of them. The weather was not all tht great for diving the days wer were there. We enjoyed the people and socializing which I am very good at! LOL It was so much fun bonding with a group. Their were people their that didn't want to be bothered, no big deal deal, to each his own.
I enjoed the hot tub in the room everyday about 3 30, with a beer or 2! They always cleaned it out daily and look very sanitary. We loved the hamock and the view as well. We did have problems with the TV not working which we just gave up on afer day 2. I didn't watch Tv but it had a radio option I liked while hot tubing. The clock radio music really didn't come in all that well.
We would have liked to see the pool bar a little more active. The bar tenders avoided going down by the swim up seats unless you sat for a while and begged. The last day, when we were leaving, it was hopping early, go figure. The music was hit or miss to. The first day we had to ask them to turn it on. The rest of days it was not loud enough for me. The last day it was rocking on the activity side by the swim up bar!
The taxi cab ride upon leaving was scary to say the least, wow, we got a crazy driver! That was the only time my stomach was upset!
We left the resort 2 hrs before departure. We took off on time and all was right with the world, only problem is, wish I could have been in Cozumels world a little longer!!!
We like to see diffrent areas and resorts but if we would go back, we would stay a Coz Palace.
OK, long enough for all you review junkies?! LOL
Have a blast, we did! Viva Cozumel, Viva Mexico!!!
Will add photos later, not sure if we really have anything that hasn't been seen?

This is a wonderful, relaxing, beautiful resort! The service was, by far, the best I've ever experienced at an all-inclusive. You don't need reservations at any of the restaurants for dinner (all a la carte except for the outdoor Mediterranean grill, where you walk up to the grill and ask the chef for whatever kind of steak you want (or seafood or chicken) and get your own sides. The food was great. You can order room service 24 hours per day. The rooms were large, comfortable, had a great big jacuzzi tub for two, and were kept very clean. The staff here are absolutely excellent! Beach area is very small and manmade, and there's not much night life, except for a great house band that played every night until about 9:45pm in the lobby bar, and after-dinner shows that were very nice (but are over before 10pm), so this is not the place for the "all-nighter" crowd, but if you're looking to relax and be pampered, this place is for you!

Firstly, we booked our Palace vacation through an eBay seller who offered us a "members package" for a small fee. This package not only was hundreds of dollars less than any travel website, it offered many extras, including massages, manicures, pedicures, airport transfers, VIP check-in, and other amenities. I HIGHLY recommend this type of service. It was extraordinarily easy and very legitimate. (search "Cancunfun2005" in eBay's search bar... Thanks Dave!) I wouldn't book another Palace vacation any other way.

We arrived at CZM and made our way through customs and baggage claim. We headed directly out the front doors to a waiting Chaza travel agent. We were quickly transfered to our awaiting transportation to the Cozumel Palace. Upon arrival, our bags were tagged at the front door, we were directed into the lobby bar area and given a cool towel and a glass of sparkling wine, while a hotel agent took care of our check-in while we sat and unwound. A brief orientation later, we had our PREMIER bracelets on and sent off to our awaiting room.

Our room was fantastic. We were on the 5th floor, just above the infinity pool area. Our bags arrived, and the bellman gave us the room run-down. He opened our liquor cabinet, left, and we unpacked. The room was clean, neat and had plenty of storage. The jacuzzi was nice, but we didn't use it.

We did however, use the rest of the facilities. The Mrs. utilized her manicure/pedicure almost immediatly, and she scheduled our "couples" massage. She utilized my manicure/pedicure later in the week. The pool was clean, the pool bar was well kept and never "too busy", though the pool area was almost always full. In the mornings, the pool seating became an issue, because many people got up early to "reserve" their choice seat without ever showing up during the course of the day. I would recommend to anyone who is going to a Palace resort to bring along some inexpensive personal belonging (old flip-flops, t-shirt) to place on your poolside chair in the morning. If you are the type that MUST HAVE your preferred chair each day, just putting down a resort towel and nothing else... you risk losing your spot.

The food was good. Not amazing, but passable, considering it is an AI. We ate outside, poolside on two nights; at the Mexican place twice; and the Asian and Italian places once. We never left hungry. The tableside service was excellent. Very attentive, and our glasses were never empty. In my opinion, the service we received at the Cozumel Palace far exceeded our previous service at the Moon. Maybe it is due to the recent hurricane that they work so hard.

We stayed at Sandals Grand Bahamian previously, and tipping there was not allowed. However, we tipped HEAVILY at the Palace due to the epic efforts put forth by all staff. Wait staff, bellmen, bartenders, cooks, guest services, entertainment... everyone. They really appreciate it, and a very large part of their income comes from gratuities. I brought $100 in ones, plus fivers for meals, and used them all. Well worth it!!!

We went snorkling almost daily, and scuba diving on three different days. (Blue Angel. Well worth it! "Pumba" was the BEST!) We also took the initiative to go over to the Aventura Spa for a day. WOW! If you go through the Palace, you will be offered a presentation (time share) along with free transfers to the Adventura Spa and Palace Money. We didn't want to sit through all that, so we took the ferry ($10 per person, each way) and a cab ($14 each way) to the Aventura Spa. Again, well worth it. A nice break.

The Palace is a place where you can get dressed up each night and not feel out of place. Some men wore dressy shorts and some women wore capris, but most men wore slacks and collared shirts and women wore skirts or dresses. Why not? You are on vacation! We also enjoyed some of the evening shows. Couples night, casino night and the Mexican fiesta was a lot of fun.

Upon check-out, there was a bit of a mix-up. We left our bags in the room under the premise that they bellman would pick them up. He didn't. We eventually were reunited with our bags; transfers accomplished and we were delivered to the airport on time.

Hints: 1. Use the internet/phone provider across the street if you need to communicate with the outside world. 2. Bring tip money. 3. Sunscreen. 4. Try "Pepe's" for some delicious seafood for a night away from the Palace. YUM! 5. Take your own bags down during checkout.

All in all, I had a marvelous time.

We stayed at the Cozumel Palace from 2/24 to 3/3/07. My wife and I have stayed at AI's all around Mexico and this place blew the doors off the other resorts. We experienced none of the trouble that the other reviewers have talked about. Check-in was fast, even though our flight was 2.5 hours late, with champaigne and a quick overview of the resort. Our room was immaculate with a great view and the most comfortable bed that we have ever had on vacation. The pool area is small, but nice with plenty of chairs and pretty good snorkling right from the resort's pier. We thought that the food was awesome! We ate at the Italian restaurant 3 nights and the grill twice. The service was phenominal, we were pampered through every meal. I cannot say enough good things about this resort. While you do have to deal with the noise and people typical with ANY resort, we were not expecting a private beach with a butler. I would not hesitate to recommend this AI to anyone interested in Cozumel -- it is worth the extra $$.

  • Liked — The service was great--we were waited on hand and foot from the second we arrived.
  • Disliked — Swim up bar is in the shade all day, but I don't know if they can move the sun or not.

My fiance and I just returned from a quick, 3 night stay at the Cozumel palace. We had just wanted a quick weekend get away and this was the perfect place. I read up on this resort alot on this website beforehand and it really helped us out.
We arrived at the airport..beware of men in offical looking uniforms telling you to "come this way"..most likely they are just trying to see you something (tours, timeshares..etc). Find your included transportation (most likely a van) and be on your way. If not, you can get a taxi right outside. It should only cost you $8 per person, they try to get you to pay roundtrip but you do not have to.
When we arrived at the palace, we were greeted with a glass of Champagne and a cool face towel. We were then quickly checked into our room. The room was very clean and spacious We were on the 3rd floor. It was not too noisy despite what others have written. I also did not think the music by the pool was too loud at all.
The service is great, the staff is very helpful and friendly. A little tipping goes a long way, a few dollars here and there.
I personally thought the food was pretty good. Their is plenty and it is always available whenever you desire it.
The gift store in the hotel is a bit pricy when you compare to others in town. There is a big Walmart like store across the street. We didnt go but heard it was much cheaper.
We rented a Jeep for the day to tour the island, you can rent it right at the front desk for about $55 for the day. It was well worth it! We toured the entire Island, its basically one road all the way around..really easy. There are lots of cute little Bar/Beach clubs along the way. I would definitley recommend driving to the other side of the Island (the ocean). There are places to stop for food and the water is beautiful, very rough though, large waves.
We spent one night in town, went to Carlos and Charlies, that was a good time. Most of the cruise ship people are there right off the boats which stop accross the street.
All in all we had a great time and would definitley love to go back again, I would greatly recommend this hotel!
