Our family of 4 (2 college age kids) has been going to All-Inclusive resorts ,for Christmas ,for 6 or seven years now. We also have many other trips to Mexico/Caribbean under our belts, and this was our 4th trip to Cozumel-first time at the Palace
There are trade-offs wherever you go and AI food is never the best. That said,we loved the Palace. The food is much better than most AI's,the service, and other positives included in reviews, all true. Christmas is the true test of a resort when it is sure to be at capacity;we have encountered short-staffing and surly employees elsewhere who obviously resented working during the holidays. Not so here. The "beach" is the downside. If you want to take long beachwalks go elsewhere. The small size of the Palace suited us but may not offer enough activities /variety for some. I would choose the Moon or Sun Palace for younger children.
I won't repeat all the superlatives from other reviews-we will be back! We took $100 in ones for tips,(these folks work hard for their money!) DO tip. On Xmas day a small stocking filled with Mexican candy was left in our room, they go the extra mile.
Watch out for the time-share vultures, they will approach you *inside* the airport when you arrive and are looking for your shuttle/taxi. They stopped us at the door and told us (authoritatively) "You must check with us first". Having just cleared immigration, customs, you may assume they are yet another official. Don't fall for it! You must stop at the booth where the guy checks your passport, then the place where you put your luggage through the customs inspection(where you push the button for the red/green light) and that is it.
We went out to dinner at Pepe's and felt it was a tourist rip-off. I had two (small, not very good) glasses of iced tea and was charged $2.50 for each. There is a supermarket across the street from the Palace where the locals shop. It has everything. We got the best price on Kahlua here. If you forgot/need something,go here. We got cough syrup (they have a farmacia),and bug repellant, cheap. (Bugs were not a problem on the property). Notes: yes,it is noisy -you can hear people in the hallways, wonderful guacamole,clean-someone is always cleaning! I look forward to going back!

Where to begin!!! We were 3 girls/very busy working-women looking for a low-key get-away from Dec 14-19, and it was more than we had expected. This was our first visit to Cozumel, and we did not even get off the island. The hotel is located just a few blocks from all of the shopping and the major chains of Senior Frogs and Carlos and Charlies. On Friday night we ventured out a block to a Salsa club called Neptuno and enjoyed the busy and vibrant atmosphere. Even though it rained on and off, some sun still got through. The reefs were beautiful and never crowded. The water crystal clear and calm. There were also daily cruise ship parades and the most perfect views of sunsets. The service was unmatched! Smiles everywhere! There was a very up-beat and positive mood throughout; from the second we stepped out of the cab to the moment we left.
Food: I am big into salt and spices, and this is really the only problem I had with the resort. The lunch and breakfast buffets offered enough variety, but ordering meals a-la-carte proved to be less satisfying. The Japaneese place had the most flavor, but Italian and Mexican lacked that little extra kick. Again, the service and the sincere smiles overshaddowed that flaw, and the fantastic end-of dinner coffee was a perfect cherry on top!
One quick suggestion: There is construction going on around the hotel, so try not to take a corner unit, even if it does give you an extra window; the noise was pretty annoying in the morning.
Otherwise enjoy! Next time we may bring the significant others along.

We stayed at the Cozumel Palace from 12-10-06 to 12-14-06. The hotel was more wonderful than we had hoped. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable, especially the jacuzzi. The weather did not cooperate for most of the trip. We are divers so getting wet was not an issue. Just some pointers for divers considering Cozumel Palace- you can rent dive lockers by the boat dock even if you don't use the hotel dive shop (Aqua Safari), and also you can rent a tank from Aqua Safari and do a shore dive right from the hotel. We did this our first day to check out our gear and actually had a nice dive. There was an octopus, cleaner shrimp, puffers, and so on. Not a lot of life, but if you take your time and look there was plenty to keep us interested.
We enjoyed the food and had dinner at a different place each night. We ordered room service for breakfast several mornings and that was convenient and delicous. The service really is as good as the reviews say.
The only negative thing I have to say about the hotel is that it can be very noisy at night. We could hear the nightly shows in our room like it was just outside. I would suggest a room set far from the stairs that lead to the lobby bar. Also, people going down the halls at night tended to be quite loud.
This was our third trip to Cozumel and we had the best time. We will stay at Cozumel Palace for our future trips.

When we decided to try the Mayan Riviera for the first time for our Mexican vacation this year after several years travelling to PV and Cabo, we had several options for our RCI timeshare exchange. Three different Palace resorts, Allegro, Sol Melia, and several others made the choice difficult. I came here to tripadvisor to look at the user reviews for help in sorting them out. We prefer, smaller quieter, resorts that still have all the amenities and luxuries, and that afford easy accessibility to safe downtown areas for shopping, restaurants, sight seeing, etc. The Cozumel Palace seemed to fit our criteria perfectly. When I started reading the most gushing reviews, I began to think that they were written by the Palace management!
I am happy to report that these reviews were TRUE!!! From the moment you walk in the door, the staff seems to compete to be of service to you. Flowers, chilled, moist towels, and champagne preceed a friendly, articulate check in process that took place at a table with comfortable chairs near a huge window overlooking the pool.
The rooms are as advertised and pictured at the website. Marble, tile, and understated elegance are maintained immaculately. The bathroom was roomy and so completely stocked with everything from toothbrushes to bathrobes that I really only needed to pack deodorant and a hairbrush. In fact, every day my toothbrush was discarded and replaced. That's right, I used a new toothbrush every single day! The bed was firm yet comfortable, the sitting area was roomy, the balcony is large and complete with two chairs a table and a hammock, and the jaccuzzi... worked well :-) I must mention that our maid, Olga, did a wonderful job. If she came before we were out, she asked us what time we wanted her to come back. Every day we returned to find a different towel creation on the bed with rose pedals and chocolates. NOTE- we left our safe wide open by mistake one day, and nothing was touched! Gracias Olga!!!
This was also our first time at an all inclusive resort. I was worried that we would get bored with the same food all week, but that was not the case. The breakfast buffet varied daily and the short order cook made a mean omelet. The lunch buffet was indoors and served an international menu. We only ate there once, but the food was good and the service was efficient. We opted for the poolside grill for a few lunches/snacks. The tequilla tacos and fresh salsa hit the spot.
With four gourmet choices for sit down dinners, we never ate the same thing twice. All the dining rooms had excellent service, wonderful food and artistic presentation, but early on we met Miguel in the Italian room and he pampered us above and beyond the call of duty. He worked sixteen hours a day and seemed to be there for us no matter the meal or the room that we dined. He even recommended and had dishes prepared for us that weren't on the menu! Gracias Miguel!!
We ordered a late room service desert of chocolate cake and coconut ice cream the first night. The room service waiter was knocking on the door before the phone was cold. Moments later, the room service operator called to make sure everything arrived and was satisfactory! Very professional. (Ya gotta try that coconut ice cream!!!)
Am I gushing now too? I could go on about the facilities, guest services, pool area, activities, nightly shows, lobby bar, short walk to fabulous shopping, or the impressive parade of cruise ships that pass by on a daily basis, but I'll let you find that out on your own.
All in all, we were very impressed by the Cozumel Palace and will return as soon as possible.

  • Liked — SERVICE!!!
  • Disliked — Chaza Travel lost our airport transfer reservation, but cheerfully refunded us immediately.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Bring $100 in singles, While tips are included a few dollars to the right folks up front will go a long way. Also, the prices for souvenirs and jewelry at the Palace gift shop were very competitive.Ask for Gabriel. Make sure you get to Coconuts for lunch!!!

Cozumel Palace is beautiful! The rooms are so comfy and the hot tub in the room adds a fantastic touch. Everything about the room, pool, and resort is fantastic.

The staff is so wonderful and friendly. They will give you anything you need and always have a smile on their faces.

Get a jeep for the day and explore the whole island. The hotel will hook you up with one for under 60 bucks and it is worth it.

The only negative is the food quality. Breakfast buffet and grilled lunches by the pool are the best. Lunch buffet is good too...get a to go plate and eat your lunch by the pool while looking out at the sea.

The restaurants at dinner time are not too good. Appetizers, soups, and desserts are okay, it is the actual entrees that are not that good.

Drinks are always pouring and delicious though..try a banana monkey or mudslide.

We loved Cozumel Palace and were very fortunate to have experienced this resort and incredible staff.
