My wife and I along with 6 friends just got back from an 8 day visit to Cozumel Palace. It is a wonderful place. Daniel (Gorilla) the entertainment director was very fun, outgoing and kept the party going all day and night.

This was a mother/daughter trip for 8 days and we couldn't have been happier. The resort is beautiful and spotless. But the best part was the staff. Everyone was so welcoming and somehow managed to remember our names on sight. We were very active, taking many tours and activities yet relished our time by the pool. The view is breathtaking. Can't wait to return.

My two adult children, my husband and myself stayed for 6 days in August 2014. All of us enjoyed the stay, the service and the location. Our room on the 4th floor was very spacious and had a great view of the pool and ocean with a king sized bed. I would recommend staying on this floor as it is quieter, away from the noise and bustle of the lower floors. Rooms were very clean as was the entire resort. Service was excellent. The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. It seemed as though they truly enjoyed being there to help you. Food in the Asian restaurant was my favorite. Also, I was pleasantly surprised at the buffet meals. Lots of options especially at breakfast where there were made to order omelets and crepes. Lunch buffet had made to order tacos and burgers. Overall, definitely a good place to stay. Activities were fun and Gabriel from the Activities staff was excellent. I would recommend the Cozumel Palace and I would return.

We were staying at Playacar Palace but took a all day trip to Cozumel Palace. Caught the 8 AM ferry over and 9 PM ferry back. Service was great and we had three great meals and wonderful service. Special recognition to Francisco (better known as Roger), Fabulio and Alfrado for making our day special.

Room Tip: Note... I didn't sleep there but was force to make a sleep quality rating... however, we have st...

Stayed at CP first week of July 2014. First of all, I would like to state that the primary reason for traveling to Cozumel is to scuba dive. If you are a beach person, the island of Cozumel really is not your place, since most of the resorts on the island do not have a beach similar to what you would find in Playa del Carmen (particularly Playacar), or Cancun. With that being said, the resort was wonderful. I liked the fact that it was small and you could get from your room to any part of the hotel quickly. The credit the resort gives for diving, and other things is another plus.
There is a grocery store chain named Chedaurri, right behind the hotel, that has about anything you would need if you forget it at home. I have become a big fan of the palace resorts chain. I have stayed at the Playacar Palace (great beach, and location), and the Moon Palace (huge resort, huge pools, terrible beach) berfore. The service, and quality of food, etc. is hard to beat.
The only issue I might mention is the following: The only drawback is the distance from the hotel to palancar reefs, located toward the southern end of the island. On a 2 tank dive you leave at 8am, and would not get back to the hotel until after 1 pm. Having stayed at the Iberostar Cozumel previously, the hotel is located at the south end of the island, so you are very close to the reefs, and therefore are back at the resort quickly after your dives. The CP is a higher class hotel, and has more creature comforts than the Iberostar. It really boils down to what you are looking for.

Our family spent a week at The Cozumel Palace from 7-3 to the 10th.
This was our time at this resort, and we found it just gets better with each visit (if that is even possible) It is just an amazing place. The main reason- THE STAFF! They just go above and beyond.
We travel quite a bit, and no one treats you as well as the staff at the Cozumel Palace.
We need to make note of some amazing staff members who made our week just an incredible week:
Edgar- who greeted us like family. He and his co-worker Carlos helped us get a great start on our week by suggesting ways to maximize our week stay on the island.
Hugo at the vacation planners desk did a superb job of helping us to set up our weekly activities (spa, tours, ect) He was so gracious and professional each and every time we saw him during the week.
Big shout out for all the staff at the pool:
Roger (who was have become good friends with from our past visit)
Andres- who was there each and every time our glasses were down to half full.
Emmanuel- who took care of us like family.
Heri- who always had a smile on his face and really took care of all our needs with such professionalism.
Now to really give this resort it’s proper due- I have to really point out the heartbeat of this resort: Head Chef Massimo. One of the hardest working individuals I have encountered in any industry.
If you stay here- just check out the time you cross paths with Chef. He is always there as he and his staff do an amazing job! Such a warm and caring man as well.
We had the pleasure of attending the Chefs Dinner (well worth your resort credits) outside by the pool at night. What a special meal. We met some great Palace Members (from Arizona) so the fine company, the spectacular food and the outdoor setting – watching the sun set into the Caribbean Sea- made this one dinner we won’t ever forget- wow!!
We have seen others comment on the food at the resort as to its overall quality and variety. I will add my 2 cents. We found the food to be great- at every restaurant.
Big shout out to Russiell- who did a great job at the Mexican restaurant.
We also had Italian food as well as Asian while sitting inside the Mexican restaurant. Everyone did not feel like eating the same type of food, so if you ask, you can see the menus from the other restaurants. The staff is always so accommodating it was never an issue. (Want a really spectacular treat? Ask your server to make you Mayan Coffee- tableside) bring your camera- you will want to get that to show your friends back home!
We did the romantic dinner- and that is a great way as well to use some of your resort credits. You get a special meal that uses the outdoor setting to make it such a great night.
You are out on the sand- and get served by a small team that attends to your every need with such professionalism and superb detail. Again- you get to watch the sun set into the Caribbean- what more could you ask?
We had a special meal with Chef Massimo before we left, so I would like to say thanks to our special waiter- Alejandro (Alex) as well as his right hand man – Gabriel. They as well as Chef Massimo provided us a meal of a lifetime- just incredible!!
Last note for the staff at breakfast: You did such a great job each and every morning; we looked forward to getting up getting our day going over a superb breakfast.
Thanks to Jose for getting my day going with a SUPERB Omelet. Great chef and always has a smile on his face.
Thanks to the hardworking staff who served us and knew what we wanted before we even sat down: Fili and Gabriel.
To sum it up- this is a place were dreams come true! We are already making plans for our return visit.

Room Tip: Look for a room away from the elevators and off the first floor.

I'll try not to repeat too much of what can be found on the hotel website.
Starting with the good:
A nice welcome of cold, fresh juice during check-in. Our room wasn't ready (we didn't expect it until 3:00 pm anyway) so we started with a nice lunch and then well prepared drinks in the lobby bar. Arian, who quickly became our favorite bartender, asked our names and later greeted us by name and asked if we wanted the same thing we had previously. Awesome service from him :). At 3:45 I finally went back to the front desk and they shuffled things around so we could have our room right then. Nicely accommodating even though we had to ask for our room that should have already been ready. We also spent some of our time waiting talking with a planner about how we would use our resort credits (more on this later).
The room was lovely, spacious and clean. We had an ocean view with a nice balcony. The rooms facing the street might be noisy if that is of concern to you. There was a bottle of wine, mini fridge loaded with soft drinks, beer, juice and water. Also 4 mid-range bottles of alcohol. Bottled water was readily available.
The facility was extremely well maintained - staff was constantly cleaning. The pool area was extensive with a swim up bar. Very small man-made "sandy beach" areas. A nice pier with ladders for ocean access. Snorkeling right off of the pier was enjoyable.
The entire staff was warm, welcoming and friendly.
The food was very good to excellent. Breakfast included a "European" selection of sliced meats, cheeses, hard boiled eggs and sliced tomatoes. The Bloody Mary and Mimosa station was nice. There was an extensive selection of both American and Mexican breakfast items. Freshly made pancakes, Belgian waffles, eggs cooked to order, crisp bacon, crepes, breakfast street tacos - all wonderful. A selection of yogurts, cereals, breads and pastries as well as fresh juices rounded out the offerings. Ask for a mochachino. Layered chocolate sauce, espresso and steamed milk topped with foamed milk - yummy!
The lunch buffet served inside was extensive and delicious each day. You could also sit outside and order from a menu. They had a nice variety of pizzas (cooked in a brick oven), burgers, fish, ceviche and similar items.
Dinner offered the choice of 3 indoor restaurants (Asian, Mexican and Italian). No reservations were required which we really liked. We only ate at the Asian restaurant and it was very good. The dinner buffet was served outside which we didn't really care for as it was quite warm. But the food was plentiful, a nice variety with a different general theme each night. Freshly grilled salmon, grouper, steak and chicken were delicious and were available every night.
We had especially great service in the buffet restaurant from Francisco (who knew after the first morning that I liked the mochachino made with skim milk and no foam), Ruben was always ready with a smile and his bantering was fun. Luis, the host, welcomed us for each meal with a friendly smile and quickly showed us to a table. (This man was there every time we were - very hard worker!).
Activities around the pool were hosted by energetic and happy employees. We didn't participate, but those who did seemed to have fun. The evening entertainment was OK. Not spectacular but not horrible.
Downtown is an easy walk.
Now the not so good:
The resort credits were a frustrating joke. There seemed to be an endless series of talking with the planner, going back to schedule once we had a room number, etc. A lot of wasted time. And no, you can't book anything in advance of your arrival.
We were anticipating using most of our credits to dive. Part of the reason we were willing to pay a bit more per night to stay at Cozumel Palace is that we thought our dive costs would be covered by the resort credits. But no, that wasn't the case. At all. The morning 2 tank dive is $79 - average cost in Cozumel. The dive boats were full for 3 of the 5 days we were there. The credits are only valid for the morning 2 tank dive. If you want to dive 1 tank in the afternoon or take a night dive, you have to pay for it. You can't use the resort credit for equipment rental either. See my separate review on Aqua Safari (hint - we cancelled our reservations with them the 2nd day.). Aqua Safari is now owned by Cozumel Palace. Their entire operation reflects very poorly on Cozumel Palace.
There are limited days/times for all excursions that you can use credits for. For example, going to Chankanaab Beach Park was $96 each in resort credits and you could only go on Monday or Friday and had to leave at a specific time (I think it was 8:30 am). We went on our own and paid a taxi maybe $15 and entry was $24 each.
Only $350 could be used in the spa. I had an excellent massage, full body scrub and mini-facial. That used the entire $350 available. It was difficult to book as the spa schedule was pretty booked. I gave up an afternoon dive since there was only 1 appointment time left for the spa services I wanted.
You could book a romantic dinner ($350). The chefs dinner was $99 each. We didn't do either. There were other excursions but I don't remember what they were specifically. Resort credits couldn't be used for Jeep, moped or car rental.
You can use resort credits for upgraded wine, both by the glass and by the bottle. The upgrade costs seemed pretty steep to me. The standard wine offering was fine for me.
You will pay a 16% tax on the resort credits you use.
They start clearing about 1/2 of the beach lounges early in the afternoon to make room for tables for the outdoor dinner buffet seating. It wasn't too much of an issue for us since occupancy wasn't too high during our stay but I can well imagine chairs not being available during peak occupancy. We didn't have any trouble finding open lounges during the day, but again, I can see this being a problem if the hotel is full.
Overall, I would go back. But I hope that they will change the resort credit process, etc. It was very disappointing, not only for us but for others we talked with while there.

Room Tip: Get an ocean view and avoid the ground floor.
