I found the last review "No Beach...Don't Be Fooled" quite funny. Obviously these people did not do ANY research on this hotel before spending their time and money to go there. We did a lot of research and it was obvious immediately that there is no beach. Did they look at any of the traveler pictures or read any of the reviews? Over and over we read and saw pictures that clearly showed that there is no beach at Cozumel Palace. We loved everything about CP and we were fully aware that there was no beach before we went. All of the pictures posted on TripAdvisor and other websites are extremely accurate. What you see is what you get!

The resort is beautiful, the service is outstanding, the food was very good. There are three indoor restaurants as well as the outside grill which (to again contradict the last reviewer) had a dinner buffet EVERY night. They offered steaks, fish, chicken, pork chops and kabobs and would grill them for you on the spot. Our last night there, we ate at the Italian restaurant and we were served a specially prepared dinner of shrimp caesar salad (prepared at the table), rib eye steaks, large sauteed prawns and champagne. Even though our particular dinner combination wasn't on the menu they were more than happy to accommodate us. During our research, we read several reviews that claimed they would be more than happy to prepare special meals for you if you asked. I'm guessing that "No Beach" didn't read those reviews either otherwise they may not have found the menu so boring. We found the breakfast and lunch buffets offered a wonderful selection. The breakfast buffet was great and offered much more than "fruit, omelets and watered-down juices." At lunch, you do have the choice of the "no luxury" hamburgers and fries at the casual "little grill stand" outside by the pool, but we usually chose to enjoy the inside buffet where is was nice and cool. There we had lots of options including hand-carved roasted chicken or pork roast, green salad with hearts of palm and freshly crumbled blue cheese, fresh fruit and guacamole, pasta, steamed mussels with garlic butter and made-to-order quesadillas and pizzas (just to name a few of our favorites).

We had a wonderful week of sun, fun, relaxing, snorkeling, great food, tropical drinks and being treated like royalty. It was great to just jump in the Caribbean from the hotel deck and snorkel whenever we wanted to. For those who must feel the sand between their toes in order to have a great vacation, there are two man-made beach areas with sand at both ends of the resort where they had chairs, palapas and where we saw several children playing in the sand and having a great time. We also took advantage of the complimentary excursion to Chankanaab Park where we sat on the beach all day and enjoyed some great snorkeling. The complimentary glass-bottom boat trip was a lot of fun too. Book these trips when you first arrive, because they fill up fast. We also rented a jeep for a day and explored the rest of the island. The other side of the island is very different than the resort side and quiet beautiful. We walked into town one day and found an Alamo car rental office in the mall. It was $30 cheaper than renting through the resort and they delivered the car to us at the hotel the next morning.

After reading "No Beach...Don't Be Fooled" it appears that they developed a totally negative opinion of the entire resort immediately after discovering there was no beach. The room, food, and service could have been outstanding (which it was for us) and they would have been miserable anyway...deliberately looking for deficiencies and faults anywhere they could find them. Please rest assured that room service definitely was not knocking on our door "every hour" to clean or deliver towels. The room was cleaned in the morning and they returned in the late afternoon to turn down our bed and leave us fresh towels and chocolates.

It makes us feel better knowing that a huge majority of reviews, on all the websites we checked while doing our extensive research, agree with us. We are beach-lovers, but we found the Cozumel Palace to be a wonderful place with "NO BEACH."

p.s. Special thanks to Oswaldo (our favorite waiter) Ricardo (the tireless activities guy) and Luis (the friendly sommelier) for making our vacation so special!

My husband and I stayed at the Cozumel Palace for our honeymoon, and we were partly swayed by some of the reviews on this site, which were largely positive. I have to agree that the service was above average and the room was large, clean, and had incredible views of the ocean. But like one reviewer stated, there were several extremely boisterous Americans in the pool area for several hours at a time; sometimes they were so loud, we had to close the sliding glass doors to block the noise, and even then we could still hear their shouts and screams.

Another caveat is the fact that when you first arrive at the airport, your best bet is to run, not walk, to the exits and jump in the first cab you can find. My husband and I were totally unaware of the fact that the hotel will attempt to coerce you into attending a "90-minute presentation" on time shares at a separate resort, also owned by Cozumel Palace, on the opposite side of the resort in Playa Del Carmen. We were basically duped into giving this salesperson $120.00 for a "tour" of the new timeshare facility, except we were not aware that it was a timeshare tour since she didn't tell us this while she was explaining the tour package to us at the airport. We just thought she worked for CP as well, but when she told us "not to tell anyone at CP that she was taking us on this tour" we both knew something was not right. We ended up flaking out and not going on the tour, but the woman was persistent and kept phoning our room at Cozumel Palace til about 10pm the second night we were there, which was completely unprofessional and left a sour taste in both our mouths. My best advice is, do not stop for any reason once you get through customs and claim your bags. You will be tempted to stop, but trust me, the best thing to do is to run for the doors and hail one of many waiting cabs to your hotel/resort. If you stop, you will definitely be suckered into a seemingly legitimate deal that will only lighten your wallet.
We attempted to get our money back through the hotel, and as a result were promised a $200.00 voucher for hotel services like a visit to the salon, a massage or other amenities--but upon checkout when we tried to apply the credit to our hotel bill, the "manager" of customer services denied they'd ever made this offer, and stated that the voucher was only good if we decided to take, yes, you guessed right, the timeshare tour. GAH! What really burned us was the fact that the manager told us their reps could basically claim any promises, but they would not make good on them and we were treated like two beggars asking for a handout. We just wanted our money back! That was the worst part of this experience, by far.
I felt that the CP was a great place, good food, excellent room service and friendly staff...until this soured me on the hotel, the staff and its cheesy promotions of their other resorts. We've decided not to stay there or at any other of the resorts owned by this company. I think it's really a shame that they tried to dupe us into this tour and then reneged on the credit voucher by claiming that we still had to do the 90-min presentation, even though they never said this when they planted the offer, and plus, logic would dictate that if we wanted to do the tour, we would have done it with the woman who took our money at the airport-duh!!
So, overall we had a great time here, but just be aware of the vultures at the airport--you'll be glad you didn't go through this unnecessary aggravation.

We just arrived back from a week (5/18-5/25/08)at the Cozumel Palace. It was as beautiful as the pictures on the internet show. But the best thing were the people who worked there. They were so gracious, fun and attentive. We arrived from a long flight from Oregon and were greeted with a cold fragrant washcloth, and asked what beverage we would like. A employee then came promptly to us while we relaxed in the lounge and explained the hotel and details of our stay. We then went to our room and were greeted with a bottle of wine and an anniversary cake. I had mentioned that we were celebrating an anniversary when I booked. We had requested a room with a hammock and a view and we got it just as promised. The room was stocked with full bottles of top shelf liquors, and coke, 7-up, bottled water, beer, club soda, and seltzer. The 3 restaurants and the grill were excellent . They have plenty of choices and to please almost any palate. The restaurant staff was excellent, but our hats are off to Elsa, who acted as a hostess to all the different restaurants. She knew our names within one day. Found out from other couples she did the same for them. But she was so friendly and gracious. The activitiy crew were so much fun. They had plenty of fun things in the pool during the day from water aerobics, to bar tending classes at the swim up bar. The had shows every night that were alot of fun.

We signed up for tours to Tulum. Coba, and the swim with the dolphins. HINT, sign up as soon as you can because some tours only go on certain days, also sign up before 5pm. the day before. It is hot so bring a hat and water bottles when you go out. We had Jorge for all 3 tours and it was great. He expained about the Mayan culture and was very nice and helpful. They do depend on tips so tip accordingly. Also bring lots of dollars. If you tip your waiters and the people at the pool they REALLY work for you. We swam with the dolphins and that was so great.

So for those few reviews that were negative. Forget them, they either had some bad luck and maybe they were just were expecting something different. We were treated royaly.
Pat and Bill,
Eugene Oregon

My wife and I just returned from a short trip to cozumel palace and have to say we had a wonderful time. Everything from the food to the service that we recieved was top-notch. We have stayed at other all inclusive before and never has the food or the service been as good as we experienced here. The decor of the hotel was nice, maybe a little to subtle for some taste (everything was white and brown) but over all pleasent. The pool was nice but quite loud at times when some louder than average guest were enjoying their stay maybe a little too much. The snorkeling was great at the hotel, tip: take a little bread with you the fish will love it. We saw several fish, even barracuda, just right at the hotel. Enjoyed the spa, they had several services available and I do not think it was too pricey, what you expect to pay at a resort. The room was very spacious and always kept clean by the staff. The jacuzzi tub was awesome and used alot due to the rainy days we had while on our stay on the Island. Overall I would have to say that we were treated great by everyone at the palace, even though we were not members was never an issue. Would think of staying at another palace resort on our next trip.

My husband and I stayed at Cozumel Palace from May 25 through June 1 and we had a very pleasant stay. We were greeted at check in with pretty blue drinks. We arrived a few hours before check in and hung out in the lobby and at the pool for a while, waiting for our room. The oceanview king we requested several times wasn't available, so we opted for the oceanview double, which was very large and the view was nice, over the man made beach area. The sunsets were beautiful. The food ranged from average to excellent. The service at the lobby bar was outstanding. The service and quality of drinks at the pool bar varied quite a bit. The Italian and Asian restaurants had the best service and presentation. The Mexican restaurant was also good and we really enjoyed the casual outdoor grill one night. We generally had to wait 15-30 minutes if we went to dinner later in the evening but we didn't mind because we could just sit around the lobby and have drinks until our table was ready.

This was our second stay with a Palace Resort (we stayed at Moon Palace last year). We also visited Xpu Ha, Adventura, and Playacar during this stay. I'd have to say the service at Moon, Adventura, and Playacar were superb and surpassed the service at Cozumel Palace, but the service at Cozumel Palace was still very good. I just didn't see those tiny extra touches that make a big difference sometimes.

Shows were at 8:30 most evenings and were enjoyable. Don't miss the fire and drum show! The spa services were excellent.
We walked into town and had a good time, although the vendors drove us crazy. The prices at the gift shop were suprisingly very reasonable.

We snorkeled from the hotel and saw a sting ray. We also did the glass bottom boat ride and the snorkeling on that was wonderful.

We went to Tulum which was beautiful but the tour really didn't allow enough time to swim if you also wanted to see the ruins. If you want to swim, bring your towels with you. The lunch buffet at Xpu Ha was really good, but the animals looked tired and hungry and the resort was pretty deserted.

One of the best things was that with the resort being so small, we got to know a lot of the staff and several other couples that we kept running into throughout our stay. It was also very easy to get back to the room.

I'd definitely recommend this resort to friends and family.
