We just got back from a 5 night, 4 day stay in Cozumel at the Cozumel Palace and we just loved it! The place looks just like all the photos of it on this site. Although we did not get greeted with a cool towel and a glass of champagne, as others have, everyone we dealt with was very nice and went out of their way to help us. The room was spacious, clean and had the most wonderful view. The bed was very comfortable.
The food was good, especially the grill. In the evening they will grill you some steak or tuna or wahoo and it is simply delicious! We would recommend skipping the oriental restaurant, however. We didn't spend much time just sitting around the pool but when we did they were very attentive offering drinks and snacks.

We went on the trip to Chankanaab and would recommend it. The place is beautiful with many things to do from sunbathing to scuba. We also went to Tulum. It was a long day trip but we really enjoyed it. The ruins are set in a gorgeous place, breathtaking really.

We had just gotten our Open Water PADI certification before we got to Cozumel and booked two boat dives with Aqua Safari, the dive shop at the Palace. We were nervous but we felt very well taken care of by the dive personnel and LOVED the dives!

Our last day we rented a jeep and explored the windward side of the island. This is the side of the island to do your souvenir shopping as the prices are much better outside of the really populated touristy areas. That and the windward side is really lovely, undeveloped and wild.

We cannot wait to go back and will certainly consider staying at the Palace for a luxurious vacation!

One note of caution. The Paris Las Vegas is rated 4 stars on this site as is the Cozumel Palace. We have stayed at the Paris and do not believe them to be comparable. The Cozumel Palace is a seaside resort, very damp. The rooms are very clean, however they are showing some age and there is a bit of a smell as you would expect from a humid seaside resort. None of this would stop me from staying there again, it's just that I had a higher expectation based on the star rating.

My husband, I, and our teenage son stayed here for one week (4/5-4/12), and we all had a great time.
Room: We received a room w/ two double beds in a quiet area --far from the elevators--as requested. We had no problems at check in. Our room had a great water view and was generously sized. Our son would have slept in the hammock on the balcony, if we would have let him. We overlooked the "swim w/ the dolphins" business located close to the palace, which was an unexpected bonus. We were able to watch the participants interact w/ the dophins. In addition to the standard room amenties (iron, ironing board, safe, 2 kinds of shampoo and conditioner, mouthwash, lotion and lots of towels), the palace also provided bathrobes and slippers. The bathroom was likewise a good size. There is a kiddie swimming pool and small play ground for those w/ small kids.
Food: The food was very good. There is an elaborate breakfast buffett in the morning. Waffles, pancakes, omelettes and french toast are made to order beginning at 7:00 AM. The equally elaborate lunch buffett begins at 12:30 and ends around 4:30. Alternatively, you can get a hamburger and other hot sandwiches w/ fries outside starting at 12:00. Dinner begins at 5:30pm at the Mexican and Oriental restaurants. Dinner begins at 6:00 at the Italian and outdoor restaurants. When we ate before 7:45pm we never had to wait for a table. We had a 40 minute wait for a table when we came down at 8:00. At the outdoor grill you can select from several kinds of steak (new york, rib eye etc), shish kabobs, or fish (usually tuna or maui maui). If you do not want to wait for a table at the outdoor restaurant, you can get your food and eat somewhere else at the hotel or in your room. We ate at all of the restaurants and thought they were all good. We mostly ate at the outdoor grill because my son has a thing for steaks. I am surprised no one has commented on the desserts. They were the best I have ever had an an all-inclusive. There were always about 10 to 12 to choose from at the out door grill at dinner.
Miscellaneous: Do not bother getting pesos for Cozumel. Everyone takes dollars from the taxi drivers to the "Walmart" type store across the street. Also, because of other reviews, I knew to avoid the time share people at the air port. I was not successful because when a person in a "uniform" told me I needed to talk to someone before leaving the airport, I didn't realize that was a timeshare person. They are very aggressive and dishonest. Once you clear customs and get your bags, exit the airport. The timeshare person out and out lied to me. I told him I was not interested in attending a time share for a trip to Tulum because the Palace already provided a tour to Tulum. He stated that the Cozumel tour to Tulum involved a time share presentation as well, and he used to work there. I went on the Palaces' Tulum tour and there was no time share presentation.
Overall, I thought Cozumel Palace was a wonderful place to stay and a good value for what was provided, --especially if you do the tours or have teenagers w/ big appetites.

My family had a great time at the Cozumel Palace. The food is great. the filet is great at the italian restaraunt. the grill is where we went the most. tuna, grouper, rib eye,ny strip you name it it's there. The enviroment is great. We brought my 3 year old daughter and she didn't want to leave. my daughter was treated like a princess, yet the resort is oriented in a way you don't feel like your at chucky cheese. the Mayan fire show really topped off the entertainement. there is excellant snorkeling right at the resort you don't even have to leave. but if you do chankanaab is really close by. I had my first diving trip there. what a great experiance! i highly recommend this place!!

we just got back from a stay at the cozumel palace, and it was awesome. my kids (8 and 10 yr old boys) cannot say enough nice things about the resort. we were upgraded to a mezzanine suite because we are a family of four, and the room was gigantic and beautiful. two big beautiful marble clad bathrooms, 2 queen beds for the kids, king for us, great. however, there was a lot of noise from people walking by in the hallway, as well as noise from the proximity of the kitchen. not too bad, though.

the resort itself is quite nice, with standard issue beach recliners by the pool, and always able to find some open chairs. the pool is really beautiful, not gigantic, but the kids loved it. most of all, the service was outstanding. when eating in the buffet restaurant, out by the pool, wherever, someone was always there with friendly offers for how they can help you. drinks were great and quick at the pool, and someone always there to bring them. we really enjoyed the food at the breakfast and lunch buffets, but were a little disappointed in the restaurants. there is a mexican, asian, and italian for dinner, and we ate at all 3 and didnt really love any of them. decent, but not great, and the service is really slow. the breakfast, on the other hand, ruled. and we loved the lunch buffet. also, the dessert buffet out by the pool at night was super good.

we never do the entertainment at these places, but here we did and we really enjoyed both the mexican folk dancing and the family casino night. super fun and the staff is just so nice and friendly. also, you are just a 10 minute walk to san miguel de cozumel, the town, and my family really enjoyed exploring and haggling for treasures.

so, all of these reasons are why the cozumel palace is so great; here is where the big disappointment is from: snorkeling at the resort. do not come here expecting to enjoy the snorkeling at the resort. there is a small roped off snorkeling area in front of the resort, where there are just some algae covered rocks and some tropical fish, but NO CORAL. and you cannot swim outside the roped off area because it is a SHIPPING LANE! the snorkeling here is TERRIBLE! some reviews have been positive for this but make no mistake, we are avid snorkelers and if you expect to just stay here and snorkel, you will not like it. you have to head out to the reefs to see the coral and sights.

still, though, i give this place a 5 star rating because it is first class all the way: first class rooms, first class staff, first class drinks, and first class chow. my family and i loved it.

My husband and I just returned yesterday from a 7 night stay for our honeymoon. We booked in January through Funjet, for what we thought was a decent price. We arrived at about noon and our first impression of Cozumel Palace was that is was very nice. We were given glasses of champagne and offered cool towels. The front desk told us to have a seat in the lobby and they would come to us for check-in.
When it was check-in time, they told us that they had good news and bad news. Not really what you want to hear on the first day of your honeymoon. Well, the good news was that our room was ready. The bad news was that it was a street view room without a jacuzzi. Keep in mind that it states everywhere (the brochure, the website) that all rooms are oceanview and have jacuzzi tubs. There is no mention of the six street view rooms that you can get stuck with. He said that the computer randomly assigns rooms the day before and there was no other rooms available for us. I think he expected us to just accept this because he didn't even apologize or offer any compensation. At this point we asked to speak to the manager. The manager came over and basically repeated the same thing the first man said. He also stated that priority is given to Palace club members, and since we weren't, we were out of luck. He then told us that if we weren't happy, they could put us on a ferry over to their hotel in Playa del Carmen and we could stay there for the night. Are you kidding me? We had been up since 4 am, and the last thing we wanted to do was lug our luggage on a ferry. We told him this was not an option. My husband asked what the price difference was per night between the ocean view jr suite we had paid for and the street view room. The manager told us it was $40. Right. The manager finally offered to give us an $80 credit to use at the gift shop. We took it because we were sick of arguing and knew we weren't getting anywhere. The manager then told us that we had to vacate the street view room by 10 am the next day. We asked when our next room would be ready and they told us around 3 pm. What? 5 hours without a room? We told them we would be out at noon like everyone else.
The next day, we got our new room earlier than expected. What a difference. The room was twice the size as our first room and previous reviewers were right, they do look exactly as pictured. Nice robes, slippers, mini bar, king size bed, big jazuzzi tub, hammock on the balcony, large shower, and a great view. Just what we wanted. Although, we were a little disappointed when we talked to other couples at the pool and found out they had paid about a thousand dollars less for the week than we had.
After the debacle of the first day, the rest of the week went smoothly. I thought the food was decent, for an all-inclusive. My husband didn't care much for it. The buffet for breakfast was good. Made to order omelletes, french toast, waffles, pancakes, bloody mary bar, and the usual breakfast items. The Italian restaurant and the outdoor grill were good for dinner, but expect to wait for a table. The lasagna was good, and the fettucine alfredo was delicious. I asked if they could add chicken to it and they said no problem. The outdoor grill offered different cuts of steak, chicken, and fish with a small buffet. Room service didn't have as many food options as I expected, but was very fast and friendly. Any time we wanted more beers for our room, they were brought within minutes. The service everywhere at the hotel (except the front desk) was awesome. Super Mario by the pool and Carlos at the grill were our favorites.
I recommend renting a Jeep from the hotel for a day and touring the island. We visited all the beach bars on the other side of the island and had a blast. Probably the best time we had all week.
All in all, the hotel is beautiful and has a great location close to downtown and shopping. I hope they fix their front desk issues, as throughout the week we heard many people yelling at the front desk staff about "lost reservations" and unsatisfactory rooms. Our experince with check-in left a really bad impression with us, so we probably won't visit a Palace resort again.
