We love the Presidente!!! We have been there four times in the last two years all at different times of the year. The service in impeccable!!! So professional and extremely attentive to your every need. If you call for something to be brought to your room, someone is there 5 minutes later with your requested item. While lying by the pool, a cabana boy brings icy cold camphor towels to cool your brow. Wait staff constantly checks to see if they can get you anything but still manages to be discreet and not annoying. When housekeeping makes your bed, they make a swan out of the towels and decorate it with hibiscus blossoms...beautiful! You can have a massage in a palapa by the beach and a pedicure overlooking the ocean. The food is great and the breakfast buffet has a ton of choices...everything from simple fruit and cereal to sausage and omlettes. The rooms are simple, with natural stone floors and bathroom. The whole place is spotlessly clean. Great chilly air conditioner. They have their own dive shop and dive boats so scuba is super easy...just walk out of the hotel to the beach and hop on the boat. The scuba staff takes care of everything! And they know where all the good dive spots are. There is not a natural beach (go to Cancun if you want a natural beach, there are none in Cozumel) but the Presidente has an excellent man-made beach that they keep in pristene condition by raking the sand at night and decorating with pretty landscaping. The Presidente is not cheap, but it is so worth it if you are looking for a relaxing, pampering vacation with great scuba diving. (Warning, though, just like every other hotel in Mexico, the beds are hard, but don't hold that against the Presidente, its like that everywhere in Mexico.)

Well, What can you say to top the last two reviews. My Husband and I were at Presidente between Ivan and Jeanne. We had an outstanding week. I couldnt' even get my husband off the resort until the last two days! Definately a place to return to! We had Aldora Divers pick us up every morning for scuba. They were fantastic. Mateo was our DM everyday, and after the first day we were with another couple, just the four of us. It was like having a private DM! I think we saw eight different reefs in four days! As the previous review stated, watch out for the lady in the lobbly who decends upon you, just as all you want to do is find your room! Also, forgo the buffet breakfast as an option when you book the hotel (if you're diving) We did eat, but only something small and light. They serve at 7am, Aldora picked us up at 7:45am. All in all, I want to go back!

My fiancee and I were at this hotel Oct 8-12th and had a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful clean beach, snorkeling tours and relaxing attitude of all the employees. Beautiful warm nights and dining overlooking the fish in the water below us. This a very quiet hotel and a wonderful get away from the hustle of downtown Cozumel. While only having 2 restaurants the overall food quality was very good along with the service. This is not a 5 star fancy resort just a clean quality hotel. We also joined the Ambassador Club and everything was delivered as promised.Baskets of fruit and turn down service in the evening. One major disappointment was after a long flight, bus and ferry rides arriving and being very nicely greeted by the front desk personal an employee with a "Intercontinental badge" approached us with welcome drinks for us being "Ambassador Club Special Members" and sat us down to explain all the facilities at this hotel. After a 10 minute presentation she explained that they would like to meet for breakfast to tell us about other Intercontinental promotions. She requested a $20.00 fully refundable deposit and I insisted we were not interested in any time share or anything like this. She assured us this wasn`t one of those things and also there is a gift and being very tired agreed and gave her the deposit.Arriving at breakfast a slick man approached our table and introduced himself and sat down. Immediately he began to ask us very personal questions such as my yearly income, etc. While listening and answering these question for 15 minutes I nicely explained to him that we were not at all interested in his Club membership. He became quite annoyed and told us that we were not right anyway for this.We finally left him and felt very insulted by this event to "special members". We informed the management about this experience and they explained that they have had many recent complaints and to write the Intercontinental directly. While checking in beware! Overall the hotel in very nice and we would definately return.

Having just got married in Scotland, and having our cruise in the Carribean cancelled due to Hurricane Frances, my new wife and I were devastated when our honeymoon plans for our four star luxurious cruise holiday were at an end - our honeymoon looked as if it was ruined!!!

Having been diverted via Miami, and stranded at the airport in Boston, USA, we got on the Internet and desperately took our chances with booking an emergency alternative holiday.

Well, what a hotel!!!! The staff were unbelievably friendly, and helpful, the morning buffet breakfast (which was included in the price) was huge, and delicious - we looked forward to this meal every day! Room service prices were very reasonable, with ample servings (I like plenty to eat), and very tasty.

The resort was private, relaxing, and waiters were constantly serving us cocktails on the beach. Snorkeling for only $10 for equipment hire, gave us a whole day to take our time and smim amongst the amazing array of fish and also explore a barge wreck full of sealife, just off the resort beach! We didn'y get to Scuba, but maybe next time!

We had a fantastic massage one day, under a tent on the beach, to the sound of beachside waves, and this was reasonably priced too, compared to most 4 star hotels!

Most days we would laze at the bar, overlooking the crystal blue ocean, and sample some fantastic and affordable meals - the best mexican food I have tasted (and I love Mexican food and have sampled it from around the world)!

We didn't want to leave - it was like a dream paradise. What a hotel, and what amazing staff and cuisine. I'd strongly recommend this hotel to any couples or newlyweds looking for a holiday which is peaceful, very romantic, and unforgettable!

Well done Presidente Intercontinental - you really saved our honeymoon!!!!!! Forget the luxury cruise, as this is the place to go!!!! Miss the crowds and simply soak up this fantastic peaceful ambience, and exceptional service and friendliness of this hotel - it made our honeymoon feel so special! Five stars for all round rating from us!!

We got back Sept 17th from El Prez, Coz. We stayed there 7 days for our honeymoon. Before I say anything, the most recent review was correct - everything was great - service truly made it perfect. The people that work at the hotel totally deliver - and make it top notch. We rented a car in town and drove to the resort and had no problems at all. The room: They do really bring a fruit basket and a champagne set up (complete with floor stand/ice bucket and champagne flutes). We stayed in Room 5133, which is an oceanview (we opted to pay for the upgrade) and it was worth it. The only thing I'd recommend (and we'll change next year) is opt for rooms 5125 or less - still oceanview, just not as far of a walk from the lobby. We tipped housekeeping about $4/day and we found animals made from towels and fresh flowers in our room daily, as well as ample bottled water. They do have a regular housekeeping service as well as turndown service, which means they're in and out twice per day. The beach is right off the room, which is an AMAZING view - definately go oceanview. Food: Mostly, we ate at Cana Brava, which is the casual restaurant/bar on premisis, and it was incredible. Without getting too personal, we have sensitive stomaches and always ordered the hamburger/hotdogs/fajitas and had no problem. I ordered the fajitas once and it was wonderful - but I will say it's big enough for 2 to enjoy. The beer is ice cold and the chips and pico de gallo are to die for. Martin is one guy that works behind the bar (it's hilarious to get him cracked up) and he always takes good care of you. Happy hour is daily from 5-7pm and it's a welcoming place, especially when drinks, during that time, are 2 for 1. If you're sunning, a server will come by, to your beachchair on the beach, under the palapa, when you set your flag in the sand upright. They bill everything (including food and tip) to your room so there's no need to have cash on you. The service here really is incredible, you'd have to experience it to believe it. Diving: We dove with Blue XT Sea and had an amazing experience. The dive operation is very organized and our dive master (Pedro) was amazing. We each dove 6 tanks while we were there (despite Hurricane Ivan) and we still had an incredible time. Blue XT Sea was a recommendation from friends last year and we're so happy we chose to dive with them this year. They're very careful and SAFE. All of our dives were great! Scuba Du was the dive op on location and we heard good things about them as well,we just liked the personal attention with Blue XT Sea. Beach: The beach at El Prez was gorgeous! Snorkeling right off the hotel is incredible as well. We've gone to Coz for the last few years (first at El Cozumeleno, and then at Iberostar) and this was by far the best snorkeling and beach area. It's flawless and there's so much to see. They've even got a sunken platform area that's about 25 foot deep that has all sorts off sea life and it's right there off the hotel. All in all, El Presidente is the best experience we've ever had. We're happy we chose this hotel/resort for our honeymoon, as it was very romantic. :-) It was the first non-all-inclusive we've stayed at and it was a place that we'll definately come back to!! One last note, go to the other side (east side) of the island and visit other bars/restaurants (Mezcalito's, Coconuts). The view is wonderful and words can't describe the sunrises from Rasta's ;-) Write if any questions, we're happy to help. brandikile@excite.com
