My husband and I stayed at the absolutely gorgeous Presidente from April 19 - 26, 2008. Everything was perfect from the moment we checked-in and were taken to our room by always helpful and smiling Leonardo. We stayed in an ocean view suite which was stunning! The room was very large with picture windows overlooking the Caribbean. What can I say... the in-room amenities, the flat screen tv, the decor, the sunken tub with the big picture window view, the room-service, the towel creations designed by the room staff, and the turn down service was all impeccable.
Marta, the concierge, was a delight to talk to each day. She helped us with great sightseeing and restaurant recommendations. Marta recommended Kinta's, and it was so good that we dined there twice during our week. Not to be missed!
Everywhere you looked at the Presidente, there is a smiling face waiting to see if there is anything you need. Ray and David at the beach bar were always fun and also great bartenders!
The guys at Scuba-Du took great care of my husband during his diving adventures. He's dove with them in the past and still rates them the best on the island.
My husband and I have stayed at this hotel twice before the hurricanes hit Cozumel. The renovations and remodels that have taken place at the Presidente are worthy of a 5 star resort.
Last but certainly not least, is Senor Suarez, who is the rooms director. He knew that my husband and I were celebrating a special anniversary and went above and beyond to provide treats and surprises for us in our room. Thank you so much, you made our trip memorable!
So for anyone wondering if the Presidente should be your choice, don't hesitate for a moment. It is the best hotel on the island with the best snorkeling right off the beach!

I never write reviews, but for the Presidente InterContinental at Cozumel I have to. My sweetheart and I just got back from a 5 day trip to Cozumel and we stayed in an ocean view room. The hotel has 3 restaurants, a spa, two beach areas and two pool areas. Our room was very clean, nice flat screen tv, free wireless internet, and a beautiful view of the beach! The room was contemporary and comfortable, but not ultra modern. My only complaint was that we had a shower, but no bathtub and no hot tub in the pool area. If you are wanting to stick to a budget, like we were, there is a grocery store Chedraui, in town. We stocked up on drinks, snacks and alcohol and this helped. A can of 7 up was $4.00. This hotel costs more than a few others that we looked into, but given the amenities and the snorkeling available, it was well worth it!

excellent, quite, relaxing, 3tips 1- room service coffee is free in am, 2 spa use is included except for massage, 3- order room service better selection and in some cases price is less, restaurants are a little high food is average, room and service excellent , by far the best hotel in cozumel, save money just snorkel and dive off the beach it was great, many of the so called dive boats anchor right off the hotel, ask for gabriel at scuba du he is great, in town museo above the museum cheap and great for breakfast, jeannies waffles(ie jeannies beach club) breakfast or mexican dinner-cheap, guidos for italian north of main square- mid range good food, the best right -on the main square across from the ferry dock la cannala 2nd floor enter through cuban cigar store left hand side as you leave ferry dock, no extra fees as others have said classic vacations took care of everything, next year again, and no time share lady- must be on vacation

My husband and I stayed at the Presidente from 4/26 - 5/3, and what a wonderful stay it was! We had an ocean view room, which was quite spacious, with a lovely view of the beach and ocean. Our room had a rather large balcony where we enjoyed our morning coffee, overlooking the sea. The hotel staff could not have been more attentive or pleasant. The Presidente is by far the nicest hotel on the island. The hotel grounds are immaculate (there is always someone working on the grounds, no matter the hour), and our room itself was very clean. You will definitely see a few iguanas sunning themselves outside on the grass (which my husband found pretty cool), but not to worry, they don't come near you!

There is wonderful snorkeling right off the hotel's beach (bring your own snorkel equipment so you don't have to rent it for your entire stay). You can literally step into the water and see all sorts of tropical fish! If pools are more your thing, there are 2 of them. The main pool is oceanside, and that's where the families tend to hang out. If you'd like to enjoy a pool without kids around, there is an adult pool tucked away in a courtyard, which is a really nice option. Beachside food/beverage service is very good- they make fantastic mango daiquiris!

The spa at the Presidente is just ok. I had an 80 minute massage, which was very nice, and a manicure and pedicure. I think the spa services are a little overpriced, and the spa atmosphere isn't as "spa-like" as it should be for this hotel (it's kind of simple and basic).

The restaurants at the hotel are very good. Alfredo's is excellent (try the fettuccine alfredo), as is the hotel's main restaurant (we had lunch under the giant palapa almost every day). They also serve a very nice breakfast buffet.

Recommendations in town: Pancho's Backyard is hands-down the best restaurant in Cozumel. Very nice atmosphere, huge drinks...the enchilladas con mole are to die for! La Choza, Prima, and Casa Mission are also excellent. The best shop in town is Los Cinqos Soles (you actually go through this store to get to Pacho's Backyard)- wonderful pottery, glassware, silver jewelry, etc. The cab fare to town from the hotel is only $5, so we pretty much went into town every night for dinner and to do some shopping. If you like sweets, then you definitely need to save room for dessert and seek out the street vendor in the middle of town who sells the Churros! Amazing!

You should definitely rent a Jeep one day and explore the other side of the island. You can check out the private beaches, have lunch at the Rasta Bar, see the ruins, etc.

All in all, we had a wonderful time. We will definitely be back to Cozumel, and when we return, we will definitely be staying at the Presidente.

  • Liked — Laid-back atmosphere, the beach, being only 10 minutes from shops/restaurants.
  • Disliked — The spa was nice, but it could be better.

We just got back from Cozumel and one of the highlights of the trip was our stay at the Presidente Hotel & Spa. I have been to many 5 star hotels all over the world and this one ranks among the best. This is definetly the best hotel in Cozumel and I would highly recommend this place. The rooms are very nice and clean and the ocean view rooms are well worth the money. The grounds and property are very clean and there is always staff working on the property. The two pools are very nice and there was never a big crowd so it was very pleasant. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and they were always there if you needed anything.

I plan on staying at this hotel on all my trips to Cozumel and I would highly recommend it for a great vacation!!
